RedOnRed Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 I think Allen played a big part in laying down the foundations that has got you into this mess. But having said that, I don't think you'd be in the position that you are in now if you still had Allen. That may sound confusing, but one thing about Allen is that he's very good at squeezing the pips out of players and making them go that extra mile...basically they're just too shit scared of him not to. We escaped relegation a couple of years ago in the last few minutes of the game with other results falling in our favour too. So anything's possible. Best of luck in your last game.
Joe. Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Ultra I actually think you want us to be relegated just so you can be smug and say "I told you so". We know your views on Holloway, you don't have to repeat it in every thread going.
RedOnRed Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 *last game. Sorry, last game. Are many of you going to make the journey over to Stoke for the last game?
Joe. Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Sorry, last game. Are many of you going to make the journey over to Stoke for the last game? 1,600 of us. Purely because that's all the tickets we've been allowed to have. We could have taken 3-4k there easy had we been given the tickets I think.
Tilley Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 1,600 of us.Purely because that's all the tickets we've been allowed to have. We could have taken 3-4k there easy had we been given the tickets I think. Easily . Ah well, fingers crossed it's on the television.

Even we'd expect a bigger allocation then that and expect to take more.
Ultra Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Maybe it's more pro-stability, maybe because he's still better than Megson drawing his way into League One. If we go down, no one man would have saved us, this season has been a comedy of errors, right from Allen sacking the bloke that recommended Nielsen and Hellings. No doubt, he made tactical decisions today that I disagreed with, none of these were defensive. You can't blame the manager for us conceding at least two of those three goals. Neither did he, as has been said, cause Hume to miss his penalty. Hume has been our regular penalty taker all season, and that miss rests on his shoulders and his alone. There is no singular cause to our downfall this season, Milan's chop and changing, Allen's attitude, Megson's negativity, Ollie's, at times, odd ideas, we haven't been, nor looked "safe" at any point this season, despite what some would have you believe. We have to look now to the Stoke game, get three points (we're statistically better against good teams than bad ones). Then Milan can either sack Holloway and STICK BY HIS NEW MAN next season, or we can actually slow things down for a bit and let people find their feet rather than looking for quick fixes all the time. One of the features about following this club is that there will ALWAYS be a section of the fanbase, who against all logic, will defend the manager no matter how shameful his record may be. I've seen it with Pleat, Taylor, Kelly and now Holloway. The fact we've failed to string TWO wins together all season, despite the millions at the manager's disposal, should be damning enough evidence of his ineptitude. In addition, our record of just ONE win (and three goals) in the last six home games, despite four of those games being against teams who were below us at the time, gives us no reason to believe that things will improve next season. Holloway is a lame duck. It makes no odds whether he's shown the door before or after the Stoke game.

I reckon possibly 8-9k if we had been allocated that much to be honest, to take 6k to Barnsley and with Stoke being the last game of the season and the one that could decide our future I reckon we could have taken many many more fans.
RedOnRed Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Time to give the job to an ex Fox. Is there one that fits the bill and is big enough to rise to the challenge?
Nath Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Time to give the job to an ex Fox. Is there one that fits the bill and is big enough to rise to the challenge? Barry Hayles
lildave3 Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Time to give the job to an ex Fox. Is there one that fits the bill and is big enough to rise to the challenge? eek. Get ready for Walsh/Taggart respones

Joe. Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 Time to give the job to an ex Fox. Is there one that fits the bill and is big enough to rise to the challenge? Many would say Steve Walsh. But I wouldn't be so happy to go along with this- he's all talk and has no coaching or management experience. Just because he was a good player for us many people think he would be a good manager. Apart from him there isn't really an ex-fox "clear favourite" for potentially becoming a manager.
ousefox Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 The 2 main things he did wrong today... 1. He did nothing when we were being ripped apart after kisnorbo came off in defence cos we had no pace at all and at corners N'Gotty was told to stay back with there pacy striker when weso should be put back cos he is not tall enough to head it. 2. He took hume and hayles off for campbell anf fryatt. Put one of the wing and decided to put Mccauley upfront why did he not just leave hume or hayles on a bring off crappy stearman

For the record, I wanted rid of Taylor, Levein, and, eventually, Kelly not long before their respective reigns ended. I like to think that all other options are exhausted before I call for the managers head. I don't get this vibe from Holloway yet.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 If we're on the subject of bringing a new guy in in the summer (regardless of our status), what about looking at: Ince Royle John Collins All would fancy their chances (especially in League One considering our resources).
Corky Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 I've just got back from that match and I'm completely depressed. What a great eve of my 18th birthday. I'm not going to criticise Hume for missing the penalty, I wouldn't have had the bottle to take it. Once again Holloway persists with Howard despite him doing nothing yet again. Hume was terrorising their defence, Hayles was playing quite well, but he took them off instead of Howard? This reminds me of Taylor with Akinbiyi, too stubborn to admit his own signing isn't good enough. So angry at the performance. We gave Wednesday too much time and space on the ball. I really can't see us getting anything from Stoke, we have to hope Southampton get less than two points from their last two matches.

Then Milan can either sack Holloway and STICK BY HIS NEW MAN next season, or we can actually slow things down for a bit and let people find their feet rather than looking for quick fixes all the time. IMO, our downfall today centered around two things... 1) The attitude of the players once Sheff Weds had equalised. You could literally see their confidence drop away, they looked broken, like they'd lost the match already. We do not have a team with a winning mentality, we do not have a team which believes in themselves. 2) The tactical changes to the formation and the substitutions which left us with no shape and a bunch of players who weren't really sure what role they were supposed to be playing. At 2-1 down, even with the missed penalty, we might still of been able to salvage something from the match, yet, the subs and the change in formation led to nothing but a complete mess on the pitch. Both of these things are down to Holloway. Moreover, we've seen it thoughout his whole tenure. The same mistakes keep happening and the same mental capitulation keeps cropping up. Holloway has had plenty of time to get things right, he talks of stability but all I see see is him continually destabilising the team. He's failed miserably and I simply can't see how any team can flourish under these conditions, even in League 1.
eldiablo Posted 26 April 2008 Posted 26 April 2008 "We now need West Brom to beat Southampton on Monday evening. If they don't then we have got to go to Stoke and get something. "I have told the players they had better be ready for the hardest week of their lives. "They have now got to make sure they face up to that challenge." is wat holloway came out wiv after da game! wat a load of bullshit i fookin h8 him! oooooooo we have got to go to stoke and get something, fook me sorry holloway if u cant b arsed then fook off back to bristol!!!
Thracian Posted 27 April 2008 Author Posted 27 April 2008 bring in walshy and taggart for the last game Beaglehole knows far more about our players than Walsh does but I wouldn't wish the last game on him. The time for a new manager was six or eight weeks ago.
