Kilworthfox Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 IMO IF we can beat Stoke we will stay up. Therefore it is in our own hands. The worst case senario would be that Southampton would win both their matches (not very likely) that all of Sheffield Wednesday, Coventry & Blackpool all win (which is also not very likely) Therefore it is almost guaranteed if we take care of our own business at Stoke which can happen depending on which Leicester turns up. Stoke are in good form recently but are prone to odd results like us, here are their results since March: 16 points from 11 games QPR 3-0 Stoke 02-03-2008 Stoke 1-1 Burnley 08-03-2008 Norwich 0-1 Stoke 11-03-2008 Watford 0-0 Stoke 15-03-2008 Stoke 1-1 Blackpool 22-03-2008 Sheff Wed 1-1 Stoke 29-03-2008 Stoke 1-2 C Palace 07-04-2008 Coventry 1-2 Stoke 12-04-2008 Stoke 2-1 Bristol C 19-04-2008 Colchester 0-1 Stoke 26-04-2008 Compare that with our form in the same period: 14 points from 11 games Cardiff 0-1 Leicester 01-03-2008 Leicester 0-1 Preston 04-03-2008 Leicester 0-0 Bristol C 08-03-2008 Southampton 1-0 Leicester 11-03-2008 West Brom 1-4 Leicester 15-03-2008 Leicester 0-2 Hull City 22-03-2008 Leicester 1-0 S****horpe 29-03-2008 Sheff Utd 3-0 Leicester 05-04-2008 Leicester 1-1 Colchester 12-04-2008 Barnsley 0-1 Leicester 19-04-2008 Leicester 1-3 Sheff Wed 26-04-2008 Looking at those results gives me some hope especially the Crystal Palace where Stoke lost at home I am trying to help you guys stay optimistic as it's crap going through the week with this over you, stay positive and the useless fookers may pull it out of the bag! Or Southampton continue their dreadful form, I don't care Southampton's results since march: 11 points from 10 games Southampton 1-1 Ipswich 01-03-2008 Wolves 2-2 Southampton 04-03-2008 Blackpool 2-2 Southampton 08-03-2008 Southampton 1-0 Leicester 11-03-2008 Hull City 5-0 Southampton 15-03-2008 Southampton 0-0 Coventry 22-03-2008 Cardiff 1-0 Southampton 29-03-2008 Southampton 2-0 Bristol C 05-04-2008 Charlton 1-1 Southampton 12-04-2008 Southampton 0-1 Burnley 19-04-2008 It really is in our hands! & Southampton are in awful form so lets be positive :fox:
Ozwin Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 We always do well against the bigger teams in the division.
lookwhaticando Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 It seems oh-so-simple. That's what's so worrying, really.
Tilley Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 I feel more confident playing Stoke away then I would if we were at home, I think, no one expects us to win, so maybe, just maybe we can pull it off. Hopefully.
turkish14 Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 you've cheered me up a bit It looks like recently there away form has been better than there home form,Where our away has been slightly better then our home form, you never know we may just get out of this mess
Kilworthfox Posted 27 April 2008 Author Posted 27 April 2008 We always do well against the bigger teams in the division. Oh god! Stoke > Leicester Never

Tilley Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 West Brom beat Southampton tomorrow. Were losing to Stoke. Southampton are drawing 1 - 1 with Sheff Utd. Our final whistle goes, waiting for Southampton score, Stern John last minute goal

StroudFox Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 This is what I have been saying for several weeks now. I think we can get a result at Stoke. We often get results against teams at the top of the table and Southampton's form is even worse than ours. I have been saying this and people have been thinking I am mad . Maybe I am trying to convince myself into believing it too but I still have faith. City are so unpredictable. I think it will all be a lot clearer as well after monday's game when we can see if Saints have got the ability to win and pull themselves out of the relegation zone or not. Come on City - you can do it!!
Finchy Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 This is the kind of thread we want to see! Yes, yesterday was disgraceful etc etc but we don't need to be told that we're going down over and over again, especially when there is still a chance we can stay up! Maybe a very good chance by 2moro night. Leicester 4-1 Watford Bristol 0-2 Leicester Leicester 2-0 Ipswich Leicester 1-0 Palace West Brom 1-4 Leicester We CAN beat good sides! Come on City! Keep the faith!
STUHILL Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 This is the first time I've not felt optimistic about us winning a game. I'm always the one that believes we will do it. BUT after yesterday and the golden opportunity our players had to be heroes, I really can't see them beating Stoke. They had the best chance to Win and secure our status, we were 1-0 up and looked comfortable. They completely crumbled and showed no fight, only pathetic desperation in the end. I really think to beat Stoke, we will need so much luck. I will be more interested in the Southampton game to be honest though, i believe that will be our only chance! Hmm... quite a depressing feeling this, for the first time ever, I have lost that almost 'foolish' optimism that we can actually Win!!
maddog Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 We will lose this almost certainly but i think we will get lucky yet again and Southampton will lose Monday, then only draw at home to Sheffield United. We may get to the Prem quicker if we go down, we could do a Bristol City.
Finchy Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 We will lose this almost certainly I'm sure just about everyone said that before West Brom
filbertboy Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Nothing that our football team does surprises me any more so I think we can get a positive result at Stoke and that the other scores will go our way. Come on the foxes !!
maddog Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 I'm sure just about everyone said that before West Brom TBH i really thought we would win this as i thought Stoke would be guranteed promotion by now. But fecking Hull won didn't they so Stoke still need something
Webbo Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 TBH i really thought we would win this as i thought Stoke would be guranteed promotion by now. But fecking Hull won didn't they so Stoke still need something They would still want to win the championship though.
maddog Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 They would still want to win the championship though. Yes but they wouldn't be trying as hard if they were already guranteed promotion, even though they could still finish 1st. It's means nothing to finish 1st in this division, it's not like the Prem where you qualify for Champions League and get £60m+ ( stating the obvious ). As long as you are promoted. My point is they would be trying a lot harder if they needed to get a result to be promoted which is what they do need. So we are fooked. But when i think about it Stoke are shit and we should beat them
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Pulis quote from todays Times; "We won't set out to beat Leicester; We only need a point."

Finchy Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 Never play for a draw! Anyway, you never know, we might just get that little bit of luck we need, like at West Brom when they had a player sent off.
maddog Posted 27 April 2008 Posted 27 April 2008 They only need a draw to guarantee promotion that might take the edge off their game I Id love to say i've watched a load of Stoke matches, know their game and know how their play. But all i know about them is good darts players come from there, and they have Vincent Pericard.

Stoke get alot of headed goals by big centre forwards. Unfortunately Kisnorbo is out because he'd of dealt witht that kind of attack reasonably well, hopefully Bruno will put his nightmare behind him and become what we know he can be on Sunday.
