I mean, "I love the place and I've met my fiance". I must agree, Hayles was as useful as a handbrake on a canoe when with us.

You seem to be forgetting that we were in a relegation dogfight, and if he didn't chase every ball the fans would be furious. Of course his manager is going to tell him to hassle and harry. If every one of our players had given the effort that Barry has put in over the last few months we'd be safe, easily. You also seem to be forgetting that without Barry at Barnsley we would have been relegated after the Sheff Weds game.

Ive seen him have 1 decent half for us away at Barnsley , last week agaisnt Sheff Wed he was awful and the technique for that 1st half shot yesterday was sunday league standard . I know Stoke are a dfficult team to play against but we were lucky to get away with keeping it 0-0 with that pathetic approach.

Barry is a good, skilful footballer, with a good CV, who has helped at times this season, but didn't you feel that yesterday he was either not on his game or just not right for what was needed on the day? As said earlier, surely better coming on as a sub , and as impact player ala an ageing Teddy Sheringham and as BH did to some extent coming on at Norwich away, hitting the post and unsettling their defence with touch and brains. From early in game yesterday his touch was off and passes over or under hit. As game wenton I feltl Ollie was just sticking by BH longer game went on hoping he would dig out a gem from the history books but it was never going to happen for BH. I was screaming for MF to come on a lot earlier, and hey, with the crap teams he's had to play in over the last few seasons, and his goal at Villa, surely he deserved an earlier introduction? There was more chance of him working something up with Hume, or at least running his young legs out for a final 30 mins "do or die". Ah well, all this is out of our hands as mere fans - we've just got to keep supporting.
