Giving up smoking

in my experience if you need/resort to aids like patches and so on you will probably end up back on them stick it out it does get easier.

you will start to get a cough and loads of crap will probably come up but after a few weeks you will feel loads better!!

what I found helps is that if you set your self mini targets like 1 week 2 weeks 1 month 2 months and so you are aiming for something.

you need to be strong though because once the craving has gone you still think , could do with a smoke.... best way is to probably avoid smokers for a while

keep it up mate!!

When I could no longer remember how long ago it was since I'd had a smoke I knew I had the giving up thing licked.

I can strongly recommend heroin to anyone going through a similar experience now

This might sound like appaulingly bad advice but the two times I've actually managed to get through the first 3 weeks of not smoking I necked a cocktail of pain killers when the cravings were at their worst :giggle:

Everytime I have tried it, it tastes disgusting tbh.

My Dad has recently given up, but my mum is still a heavy smoker.

Best of luck to you though, if you want to do something then with determination and willpower you can do it.

I've never smoked and never will. But apprently the best method to stop is to take an empty packet of fags, fill the box with water, leave it for a week. Then after the week smell the box, the smell is apprently so bad it never makes u want to smoke again. Worked for one of my mates dunno about other people.

Just got back from Huddersfield, after leaving for there at 6am this morning ........Going there the traffic wasn't to bad until you hit sheffield (2 lanes nightmare) and coming back was down to 20mph for about 8 miles (the longest 8 miles of my life) fookin stop start, stop start, some twat nearly ramming into me as he was weaving in and out of cars. It was 14 miles to the nearest service, and I thought then, as soon as I hit the services thats it I'm getting some fags....

But I didn't I went into the services got a WIMPY and coffee and set back on me way.....makes me angry now thinking that one ignorant twat nearly caused me to start back up again, I wish idda taken his number plate and tried (somehow) to track the ****er down!

excellent stuff!!

it will start to get easier soon

I was meant to quit. That plan fell through.

All the best of luck to ya for quitting.

It is hard work.

All the non-smokers who say "it's easy" don't actually know what it's like.

I was going to go out this week-end but know if I do, get pissed I will end up going out side with the smokers of the group and end up smoking again, so I am staying in this week-end to resist any temptation!
