RedOnRed Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 But he'd be leaving a team of Fourth Division cloggers for a squad including a smattering of U21's, internationals and Championship winners with a true vision of returning to the top flight. Given a guarantee of professional and financial support, and the Premiership-level surroundings he would go on to, it offers a realistic next step in his career. This isn't to say I believe he is going to come here, just that Franchise offer little reason to stay beyond having a big ground they can not (nor will ever) fill unless they field U2 and Coldplay in the starting line-up. Before you deride clubs that you think are below yourselves it's worth remembering that you too are now in the lower divisions and may now not get the same attendances that you're used to. For the second season running we had the second highest average league attendance last season and peaked at about 14,500 for a single gate. Not bad for being in the bottom division. We also took over 30,000 to Wembley which wasn't too bad again under the circumstances. As we go up the divisions our support is increasing and building momentum just like any club does really.

Joe. Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Just out curiosity RedonRed, are you an ex-Wimbledon or "new" MK Dons fan?
RedOnRed Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 At least we're a proper club! People call us a franchise but what exactly is one? Does relocating make you a franchise? If so, many clubs are a franchise like Arsenal that relocated about 100 years ago from Woolwich to Highbury. Some people might say that you're owned by a foreigner that currently owns the franchise. Maybe just offering a team a home that's been homeless for 13 years and bringing them out of administration makes you a franchise? Just out curiosity RedonRed, are you an ex-Wimbledon or "new" MK Dons fan? I'm a "new" MK Dons fan if that's how you want to label it.
Joe. Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Maybe just offering a team a home that's been homeless for 13 years and bringing them out of administration makes you a franchise? Fantastic. Big hand to MK Dons, those kind, generous people.

Eh? I suggest you look in to what a 'franchise' is. Besides this isn't the place for reasoned debate... this is OUR forum. You can't keep away from it. Our history isn't the best in the game, but it's obviously immensely attractive to you - you just can't keep away. Ricky Otto.

Joe. Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 I'm a "new" MK Dons fan if that's how you want to label it. It wasn't a dig by the way. I was just interested as to how/why you supported them really.
RedOnRed Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Fantastic. Big hand to MK Dons, those kind, generous people. I've been down this road too many times before about how hated and despised we are. Some people come on our forums to make a full time job of it. I'm just interested in the Ince situation.
Daggers Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 At least we're a proper club! We are a club. Milton Keynes aren't a club and never will be - they will never be respected by those indside or outside of football, a parody of a football club. Something that was never meant to be and will probably never last. I look forward to seeing what their attendance is when they drop into the GM...and beyond. Just out curiosity RedonRed, are you an ex-Wimbledon or "new" MK Dons fan? He, like the rest of them are all a bunch of armchair Chelsarsemanpool "fans". They never went to games until someone delivered a team to their front door. Plastic town, plastic team, plastic fans. Wankers - every single mother****ing one of them.
The People's Hero Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Maybe just offering a team a home that's been homeless for 13 years and bringing them out of administration makes you a franchise? Shame you didn't afford Maidstone United the same generosity. You bastards.
Daggers Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Shame you didn't afford Maidstone United the same generosity. You bastards. They didn't "offer a team a home" - they bought a position in the league.
RedOnRed Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 They didn't "offer a team a home" - they bought a position in the league. Perhaps you could get Mandaric to buy you a position in the league if it's that easy?
Fox You Forest Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Perhaps you could get Mandaric to buy you a position in the league if it's that easy? 1894 we got ours.
Joe. Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 1894 we got ours. MK Dons are like the annoying kid at school who tags along 110 years later.
RedOnRed Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 MK Dons are like the annoying kid at school who tags along 110 years later. It's a weird metaphor but I think I get it.
Daggers Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 MK Dons are like the annoying kid at school who tags along 110 years later. Sweet.
RedOnRed Posted 6 June 2008 Posted 6 June 2008 Anyway, I get the point...you hate the MK Dons and think we're a franchise and shouldn't exist etc, etc. In fact you were telling me the exact same stuff relentlessly about a year go. But that of course doesn't stop you incessantly wanting our managers which is what we're talking about right?

We'll happily take them off your hands until you give us a decent one if that's alright with you lot

We'll happily take them off your hands until you give us a decent one if that's alright with you lot Yeah, but little do you realise that Ince is in fact an android designed to self destruct at the slightest interaction with an over zealous chairman within just four matches. On delivery you will find that inside his head it's none other then our chairman laughing ghoulishly whilst pulling a few levers until...kaboom! Like a kid in a candy store you just can't say no though.
