Scow Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 I've just posted an article about Ince on Foxes Online. Just in case you haven't got newsnow.
Number 6 Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 It depends on how Ince judges his next season to go. If he thinks it's going to be a real struggle to keep MK's in league 1, then he may see us as a better prospect. If he feels he can build his squad and make them a solid league 1 side then he will probably stay. Ince is an ambitious man, and the way he might see it is that he could be managing in the Championship in 18 months (with either side I know). Personally I would love him here, but don't think he will come. MK's had such a good season I don't think he'll be ready to move for at least another season. However, the only thing putting Ince off would be the managerial merri-go-round I think, and, if he is confident in his abilities as a manager then why wouldn't he want to come? Oliie knew our track record with managers, and the state the club was in, but was confident and ambitios enough to take it on. It takes some balls to do it, maybe Ince has them.
Guest Posted 4 June 2008 Posted 4 June 2008 He's secretly a Tigers fan, and after the 4 weeks he'll have to spend in the job before getting the sack, he figures he can spend the rest of his saturdays watching them with a fairly hefty bank balance
Raj Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Why would Ince even consider coming to Leicester? Er...cos we are a MASSIVE MASSIVE club and only a fool wouldnt want to join the fun.....er...in League One.....
teblin Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Maybe too much of a big deal is beiing made about the departure of managers at the club. All of the mangers that have gone seem to have gone for good reason(granted we don't know the Allen reasons). IH had to go, Megson left for the Prem and the other perminant managers where slightly out of thier depth (in my opoinion). Theres alot of reasons why Ince would come here, he will be financially backed both personally and as a manger in terms of team development. If a manager is confident about his abiltity there would be no reason why coming to leicester would be an issue.
Babylon Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 The same reason Holloway left a club higher up. Quality Facilities Large Fan Base Financial Backing The players - although they did cack last year, a manager with confidence would look down the list and feel he could do something here Higher Profile The wages The only major reason to not come is currently MM. If he got to speak to them and explained the departures we have had, maybe they would feel differently.

If he got to speak to them and explained the departures we have had, maybe they would feel differently. Exactly. And for me all these factors just SCREAM stepping stone. If he takes us up and puts us near the playoffs he will walk into a job in the premiership, or at least with a just relegated team with parachute money. He will not do that from L1 with MK Dons.
Ric Flair Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 This stability malarky that people go on about, it's not as if Ince has been there for 8 years and built the club up from nothing and therefore has the freedom of being able to stay there if he wants for life like Wenger, Ferguson and Allardyce when he was at Bolton or Curbishley at Charlton. The reason Ince has stability at MK Dons, is because he's done well there. The reason managers haven't had stability and job security with us is because they've all done very badly with us and therefore they've been disposed of. Most ambitious managers with belief in themselves wouldn't be worried about the past failings of others here.
Shipman Out Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Ince is on his way up and taking the Leicester job and doing well would be a great stepping stone to bigger things, Ince himself has said many time his target is to be Inter Milan manager within 6 years, he still has a friendship with there President (Morrati?) If Ince came, took us up and even got us to finish in the top half of the Championship then it will be seen as a success and he could move on up the ladder. Im not convinced he wont stay at MK Dons at least for the first half of the season. I couldnt stand him as a player on or off the pitch but he has something special a Motivator of players who are not as good as him he can speak to them turn them into winners something Hoddle and Gullit struggle with. His job at Macclesfield showed Class and BALLS! to take it. I think Ince is the best thing we could ever wish for in our position, If wed just lost our manager in the Premiership id want him. I hope it happens WELL DONE MILAN!
Tilley Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Or, A Challenge Or he might just stay at MK Dons, & Billy Davies will come
breadandcheese Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 I think Ince would have to be a fool to come here. He could make the play-offs with MK Dons next season, as they've got some good backing and decent players. Even if he doesn't do that but is in and around the play-offs, he will have done enough to move onto a bigger Championship team when a job becomes available (teams like Wolves, Charlton, Birmingham could all have job opportunities in a year's time). With Leicester, it is more likely to be a poisoned chalice. Milan will most likely interfere, which Ince will not appreciate and if he doesn't achieve, will be bombed out with a damaged reputation, see Martin Allen as a perfect example, a man with a damaged reputation. I tend to take the view that if Ince is seriously considering us, he's a fool and not bright enough to manage us. I actually think this is more likely to be Milan getting us some press coverage, to the benefit of both parties (it gets Leicester exposure, shows we're making the right noises as a club; it gets Ince exposure, appearing in the media as an up and coming manager in demand).
Lovejoy Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 According to certain papers this morning, Ince Is Blackburn's no.1 target to replace Hughes. Surely we couldn't compete with Blackburn?
Lichfieldfox. Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 He won't come here with Blackburn sniffing around unless they appoint Allardyce.....................but I hope he does of course
Koke Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 He won't come here with Blackburn sniffing around unless they appoint Allardyce.....................but I hope he does of course Blackburn are massive... They can do much better than Ince. The Premiership will be too much for him.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 Here instead of Blackburn? I doubt it. Besides, Ferguson reckons he is "a proper charlie".
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 I really rated Inc as a manager until he got linked with us..... .....Now I think he must be shit! On a serious note I don't think we'll get him but I think it'd be great if we did somehow.
Ash Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 If Ince looks at the BIGGER picture, Can you honestly see MK Dons being a stable Premiership team with in the next 5-7 Years - No . Now can you see Leicester being a stable Premiership team with in the next 5-7 Years - Possible!
thecannon Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 I'd like to see him here. But he has just been promoted with MK Dons to league 1, he has no pressure on him what so ever with them. So if he took the job at Leicester, there would be soooooooo much pressure on him because we are expected to go up straight away and even win the league. So if he did come and didn't get us up, everyone will hate him!

So if he did come and didn't get us up, everyone will hate him! I don't think that's true for one second, first of all not everyone expects us to go straight up, well there is Mandaric, secondly if the team perform well, win more than they lose, score a fair few goals, provide some entertainment then I think a large percentage of fans would see that as acceptable as a first step in our rehabilitation.
RedOnRed Posted 5 June 2008 Posted 5 June 2008 If Ince looks at the BIGGER picture, Can you honestly see MK Dons being a stable Premiership team with in the next 5-7 Years - No . Now can you see Leicester being a stable Premiership team with in the next 5-7 Years - Possible! Hmmm, I think you're probably wrong on both counts. Come and visit our ground when you play us and get a feel for the setup.
