eaststandtom Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 The same source that told me we had interviewed Nigel Worthington ( and then wortho turned the job down apparently!), has told me we are started negotations with Paul Dickov returning to City.Would you accept this? I'm not sure, he left in bad circumstances after saying he would be here for the next season, but i'm sure he would bang in the goals in league 1, depsite his age. he was adamant about returning north wasnt he? getting desperate that no one else wants him? still more fight than the others i might swallow my pride if he does come back
Burnsy Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 He wouldnt come back here as his wife hated Leicester even before what happened in spain and what the wife says goes.
Guest shearfox Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 He would be a good signing but I doubt it would happen
Jimmy Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 No, but I guess a lot of people will chant bad things at him and he can't be bothered with it every home game I doubt it, football fans are fickle creatures, everyone thought Ronaldo would be hounded out of Man Utd after the last world cup but by HT of their 1st game he was their hero again, the same would happen with Dickov as soon as he scored
Sods Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Theres only one Dickhead. If he comes back he can make it up to me by scoring 20 goals. Still a bullshine dickhead though.

Exactly, I used to adore the bloke, but when he pissed off after stating openly, on the pitch, that he was staying, he went down in my estimations. Will still cheer him if he scores goals for us. He won't come back though.
smokey Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 He wouldnt come back here as his wife hated Leicester even before what happened in spain and what the wife says goes. Thats true! It was his wifes decision to move back up to Manchester, i doubt she will come back here when theres a contract on the table around the corner at Blackpool!!
lavrentis Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 FEED THE DICK FEED THE DICK FEED THE DICK AND HE WILL SCORE
hackneyfox Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 Apparently he did want to stay, there were shenanigans behind the scenes which forced his departure, or so it has been claimed on Bentleys Roof
Vardinhio Posted 24 June 2008 Posted 24 June 2008 I still have 22 on the back of every city shirt because of this man. People dislike him because he said he'd stay when a microphone wa thrust in his face on final day of the season. He could hardly go "nah, I'm off". He got good support from city through the whole La Manga thing and of course he was grateful for that. Look at it in the sense that he probably only had the chance of a few years at most at the top, he had to leave for the benefit of his career not to mention the torrid time his family probably had through the la manag incident which he was innocent during! Of course he wont be back, I'd love to see it though. My favourite LCFC player, always 100% effort unlike any other player I've seen. Goals to top it too. Brilliant player!, Legend!

I agree with the sentiment in the main, he did a really good job for us and like 95% of football players aspired to remain at the highest level so he left us with no real acrimony. Also, I don't care that he celebrated against us for Blackburn, he was merely enjoying a very important goal in front of the home fans, there didn't appear any goading of Leicester fans to enrage us at all. I think some people need to drop their grudges, people move on, especially in football. I'd take him back if we shifted at least 2/3 of the strikers already on the books, he's shown that he hasn't lost that goal-scoring instinct.
stevie909 Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 just been released by man city, another possible free?
JoeyB Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Would love him back. Never stopped running. scored goals wound defenders up sound as guy aswelll yes please
MikeyT Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Would love him back.Never stopped running. scored goals wound defenders up sound as guy aswelll yes please My sentiments exactly. Lets get him in on a 1 year contract.
Thracian Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Six goals in 11 appearances for Blackpool suggests he could hack a season in Division One and the big thing he could offer us is a runner to the near post. It still astounds me that we've been so lacking at the near post for seasons now a fact that only adds to our blatant lack of imagination from corner kicks. Title winning football is not just about having a good team and an inspiring manager, it is about paying attention to the little things and making sure that you capitalise on every goalscoring avenue possible. Dickov would give us one more dimension. And a guarantee of goals if he could avoid injury.

LcFcD3C93 Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 would be a great signing and cant be know worse than our current bag of crap up front. Was my hero when i was younger
sdb Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 problem is he probably hates us seeing as we despised him as soon as he left (for a much better option - and yes i know he said he'd stay but wouldn't you infront of 30,000 people?")

Hope you arent speaking for every City fan, as i dont feel that way at all!
sdb Posted 3 July 2008 Posted 3 July 2008 Hope you arent speaking for every City fan, as i dont feel that way at all! no, nor me - but he's got pretty rough receptions from many of our fans since he left. he'll go to a championship side anyway
