MONreborn Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 The same source that told me we had interviewed Nigel Worthington ( and then wortho turned the job down apparently!), has told me we are started negotations with Paul Dickov returning to City. Would you accept this? I'm not sure, he left in bad circumstances after saying he would be here for the next season, but i'm sure he would bang in the goals in league 1, depsite his age.

And as far as the bad circumstances in which he left. Meh! But he scored something like 6 goals in 5 games i think for Blackpool last season so id definately have him back for a season at least!
Brenfox Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Yes i would love him here. The past is the past & we need to get out of this division.
Benji Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 yes please shows he still has what it takes to be a success in the championship so definitely for league 1
escape2victory Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Nah he can do one. Sure he might bang in a few goals next season, but im fed up with these short term fixes. Same with if we signed Darren Moore. Both wud probably do a job for one season, but we need to look long term, lay foundations for seasons to come. Put faith in youth.
RowlattsFox Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Its funny that we have threads with people saying all our strikers are shit but whenever we are linked with a stiker people say "another striker ". I can't see this happening myself, don't think we need him although he could do a job for us.
MONreborn Posted 23 June 2008 Author Posted 23 June 2008 It's clear, IF we do indeed go ahead and sign him, it would cause a lot of controversy. Rather like Thatcher, people will either hate or love, with no inbetween. I think he would be fine, get him in for a season, with a bit of a coaching role too. A strikers coach, teach some of the youngsters how to actually score, a choice between barry hayles and Dicky, I know who i'd go for!
teblin Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Did well at blackpool last season, 6 goals in 11 games. If he could come here and give us 20-30 games might weigh in with 10-15 goals. He's getting on but could do a job, but would like to see us build for next season aswell as this.
Simi Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 He just does what Hume does in a sense. They wouldn't be much of a partnership. If we keep hold of Hume, no need for this, he can Dickoff.
RowlattsFox Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 If dickov does come then hayles has to go, no room for the both of them. I think the coaching role would be a decent idea.
Ricey Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Would take him, he would score scores in League One. He's of the best 'turn and shoot' strikers I've seen and of course never gives up.
Cheese Me Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 If dickov does come then hayles has to go, no room for the both of them. I think the coaching role would be a decent idea. Yep. I'd take Dickov back but only after a clearout. Decent shout on the coaching role although if I remember rightly he couldn't score himself until he came here and got knocked into shape by Alan Cork? Personally I want to see more of Ash Chambers up front next season alongside Hume (maybe with Fryatt on the sidelines too) but a bit of experience helping out can't be bad. Blackppol want him though so can't really see him coming to leicester to be honest though (just realised how depressing that sounds)
billyfox1 Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 I'm not sure, he left in bad circumstances after saying he would be here for the next season, but i'm sure he would bang in the goals in league 1, depsite his age. I'm sure he didn't take too kindly the chants of "Savage is a w*nker, Dickov is a rapist" when we played B'burn.
Matt Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Nah, We're not gonna try and resurrect his career for him only to fuk off. He go to America (Read a rumour the other day and American team was interested in him) and fail or retire over there instead. He didn't want us a few years ago, We don't want him now.
smokey Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Nah he can do one. Sure he might bang in a few goals next season, but im fed up with these short term fixes. Same with if we signed Darren Moore. Very good point and i agree with putting some youth in the side, but if him and Moore only signed 12 month deals i think it would be good business for one year in League 1.
Shrenchel Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 The things people were shouting at him as they headed for the exit at blackpool I'd be fooking suprised if he ever wanted to come back here again.
DB11 Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008  He isn't going to come back, or even dare come back But yeah I'd love him here
dandannieldanok Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 or even dare come back Why, do you think Paul Dickov is scared of a few chav fans
breadandcheesebrother Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Why, do you think Paul Dickov is scared of a few chav fans He'd be a replacement for Hume, which suggests the latter may be sold. Shame because there are other strikers i'd rather see leave. Dickov and Howard playing to their full potential (of course with Howard, this is very unlikely) would tear this division apart.
lavrentis Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Paul Dickov used to be my hero... Ahh my number 22 shirt
DB11 Posted 23 June 2008 Posted 23 June 2008 Why, do you think Paul Dickov is scared of a few chav fans No, but I guess a lot of people will chant bad things at him and he can't be bothered with it every home game
