It's only a suggestion, but as some kinda compromise...

Would it not be possible that half the places go to those with the most caps - those that are left who've put their name down get drawn 'out of a hat' for the remaining places? (So, if 22 players were needed: 11 places go to the highest capped players, the remaining 11 are drawn at random by DavieG or someone similarly trustworthy - same format can be applied however big the size of team and similarly adjusted to take account of reserves, etc.)

Ok, i was bored and should have been doing other things so (based on the list of people who've put themselves down for this game) I've added the caps alongside for those I know of. Those where I haven't listed number of caps was because I wasn't certain and couldn't find where you'd said how many you have. Feel free to edit the list to add yours in. As I was trawling through posts I started to add those who aren't on the LTLFFC list too, just so there's a record. Again, add yourself and your number of caps if you're not on there.

Hope nobody thinks I'm treading on toes. Just thought a list might be useful and, like I say, I was bored.

Thats a much, much worse system, which only enforces the flaws you've mentioned previously. What you get with that is a system where an "elite" of people who've played a lot rack up more and more caps while everyone else scrabbles for places.

What was wrong with first come first served, really? That was the least likely to cause trouble of everything we'd done and was what was happening before anyway. The only thing that needed changing was not putting other people's names down.

First come First Served is bad also, people who have turned up to most games might not be on the forum and the time is was posted. Also a neutral should post the game list if this was to happen, not a member because they get on there first.

They're most likely to be on out of everyone. Some will miss out, some won't. It's the fairest way all around, much fairer than anything else and how it's been done before. If you do a caps system, in a few games time there'll be about 30-40 people with 2-6 caps and no-one with any less will get a look in even if 10-20 people don't bother.

I suppose you could have the external games as a cap system and the internal (O21 v U21 and 6 a side tournaments) as an "everybody's welcome to play" kind of thing. That way everyone has a chance to play in some form or another but the games against other forums and the like are for the core members who have been a part of this whole thing from the start and helped make it into the fun day that it always is.

Thats because most people have voted for what favours them rather than whats fairest, as people (me included) are apt to do.

Thats quite possibly the best suggestion of the lot actually. Gives other people a way in but rewards people who've stuck with it.
