bigneville Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 S'all bollocks anyway we've never had a situation where we've had the full quota of people turn up, except for Saturday, but even then the games could of been upped to 7 a side if need be.In general you get your name down you'll more than likely play. I think the only problem with getting your name down is, it can be started by anyone at anytime, and therefore details of the match might not be sorted. I suggest we put someone in charge of creating an official sign up list, so the lists can only be started when we have a date and time. As it seems with the likely demand at the moment, we're never going to be short for an event.
Katy Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 I don't mind being official list maker. I am around practically all the time anyway these days.

Exactly. It always comes together and I personally have not seen anyone miss out or moan about missing out. foxhateram came from miles away and managed to get a game so its all good...
Joe. Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 I'm not playing, but I thought I'd just suggest this anyway (even though I think it's already been said). 1. Set a date first. 2. People then start a list of who can definitely attend. 3. Once list is complete draw names. It could be done as just one squad, or with more people with one team playing a half each? I say this way because otherwise, new people are never going to be able to play if they want to because priority would always be given to those who have played previously. Just a suggestion like, don't shoot me down.

JoeyB Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 It all depends on the location and time of the game, like i said all the other ones have started at 12/2 and i dont finish work till 12/1 so it was hard for me to get their, but if it was 5pm on thge 27th or whatever i could attend

AoWW Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Sorry, but no I'd rather not name and shame. Tempting as it is. Is obvious which way the voting is going to go anyway. I was only trying to 'fight the corner' of those who can't (for very good reasons - mainly geographical, particularly with the cost of travel) get to these kinda games regularly. Seems to me pretty unfair that they're effectively ruled out of being involved in the future. The commitment some people have shown in travelling many miles to get to maybe just one or two of these games is pretty impressive in my opinion - yet they'll only have a minimal number of caps against their name. I know there are several others who would like to be in on a game sometime but haven't yet been able to get to any. Unlucky for them, eh, as places will go to the 'regulars' (the majority of whom live in/near Leicester so, in all fairness, it's been easier for them to attend). And, no, they probably won't even be looking in this thread to vote and give their opinion - why would they? I can understand why those who've played in the most games feel they should take priority. But I also feel there's alot of narrow minded 'as long as I'm ok' attitude going on. The point I've raised though seems to have been spectacularly (and conveniently, by many) missed. I just feel that some people will be unfairly ruled out by this system. End of. That's fair enough. Who are these several others then? Can they not speak for themselves? One of the big things are, is that if we're going to try and make a good crack of this, we need to be able to know and trust that when people say that they're going to turn up, then they will, because others could miss out if not. See above. Sorry, didn't occur to me at the time to keep a list of people who've ever expressed an interest in 'one day' becoming involved.... I'm not playing, but I thought I'd just suggest this anyway (even though I think it's already been said).1. Set a date first. 2. People then start a list of who can definitely attend. 3. General Smuts Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 1. Ashley2. Tevez 3. Sparky 4. OriginalRobboFox 5. Cobbo 6. Ched 7. Ld3 8. Unc Alb 9. Tommeh 10. Bert 11. Maybes 12. C-man 13. Allard7 14. Finners. 15. Flynny 16. Joe 17. Singh 18. KilworthFox 19. JME 20. BigNeville 21. Fez 22. Syston_Fox 23. Wilksey 24. Mablo 25. General Smuts 26. Scoweh 27. Joeyb 28. Tomassi? 29. Hull Fox? Not sure if there was anymore names after this but from what i gather: Except for allard7 and JoeyB (who a lot of us know anyway) and NathoDarkevic whose expressed interest - all those on the list have been before and can be relied upon to turn up if needed. Other than that i think Tomassi and Hull Fox wanted in too.
Joe. Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 I would just like to confirm once again that I can't play. So you can take me off that list Smuts.

Hullfox Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 I don't envy whoever needs to sort this out but I'll happily remove my name from the ever growing list. It's gonna be hard for anyone new to break into any of the fun and as AOWW quite rightly says, the lists grow quite quickly and those people (or their friends) who aren't on at the right time are bound to miss out. Personally I'd have loved to be involved in the TB match but by time I saw it there were 23 interested so I didn't add my name, then it transpires only 17 turned up so that seems unfair to those who could have been there. The games are good occasions and they should be there to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. The fact that AOWW (who travels bloody miles to support the events) is receiving shitty PM's because she made some valid points is well out of order.

If anyone has a problem with anything that anyone does. Grow some balls and say it in a public space.
Ashley Posted 9 July 2008 Author Posted 9 July 2008 Who actually sent these PM's? She said she wasnt going to name the people who sent her the PM's. People who sent them need to have a word with them selfs, like its been said she's made some valid points no need to give her greif over it.
Scow Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Whoever sent the PM's should have the balls to explain why they've done it - pathetic. As I've said before, I felt that priority should be given to the regulars (mainly down to reliability), however, I also agree with the sentiment expressed by AOWW. It's a tough balancing act, though as pointed out by a few already, we've not had this problem yet with actual numbers turning up. They'll always be drop outs.
syston_fox Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 Tis really, I share the name and shame view. yup!! Whilst these days are great fun, there's no need to resort to abuse over someones opinion on the matter!
Flynny Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 All we need to do is ask people not to put down other people's names. Apart from that this has worked out fine every other time, I don't see the problem.
Finnegan Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 I'm going to keep saying it 'til more people agree, tbh. Manwell's said it, I think sparky might have at some point and AoWW probably hinted on it, too. End of the day it's really not that big a deal. I mean people will turn up and get a game, we're always inundated with "OH I'LL PLAY!" and always get somewhere between 15 and 22 odd people turn up, which'd be fine. I strongly doubt there's going to be some gargantuan rush for a place to play a Forest fan's forum given they'll spend all day taking the piss about League One anyway! The more seriously you take this, the more you end up pushing away people like Hullfox and AoWW who turn up almost religiously time after time, not for the football or the obnoxious over seriousness - but for the social and the banter with the friends we've made on FT. You do that and you just defeat the point of the whole shit in the first place.
C-man Posted 9 July 2008 Posted 9 July 2008 People keep saying that loads of people will drop out, but I can't see it now. I lost count of how many people said 'I can't believe everyone's turned up, I thought it was going to be 4-a-side!' or something along those lines. Although I think the regulars should get most game-time, it would be nice to integrate some more posters into the equation.
Ashley Posted 9 July 2008 Author Posted 9 July 2008 Just an idea how to pick the squad? Team Manager (If someone decides to manage us) asks another 2 people from this forum to help him/her select the team (Foxestalk board of directors ). The board of directors take the names from the list look at each candidate then put them into the hat, names drawn out of the hat, Players will make the squad if they've played before and a reliable. Newcomers will make the squad if they will deffently be there however if they let us down they should be excluded from the next up comming event, same goes for people who have played in games before?
