The People's Hero Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 The cricket is going astonishingly well. I wonder when we'll declare and have a few at them. Come on the England. BARMY ARMY!
Fox You Forest Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Bell 200 - England around the 575 mark would be my guess at a declaration. Unless there all out before that.
The People's Hero Posted 11 July 2008 Author Posted 11 July 2008 Bell 200 - England around the 575 mark would be my guess at a declaration.Unless there all out before that. I will bet that regardless we have a few overs at them tonight. Bell's not exactly hanging around at the minute though is he?!
Fox You Forest Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Yeah around an hour or so tonight, Depending on the weather and light of course.
SamL Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 I've been very impressed with our play over the last day and a half. Collingwood failed to score runs yet again so I wouldn't be surprised if he's replaced for the next test. Bell has also been out of form but he seems to be coming into a bit of form which is good. I'm guessing we'll be looking to have a good hour and a half at them tonight.
The People's Hero Posted 11 July 2008 Author Posted 11 July 2008 Bell really needed this. I'm pleased for him though. Really pleased. Collingwood has lost his way big time, I think he could do with a break from international cricket personally.
Fox You Forest Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Collingwood surely must get replaced by Flintoff in the next test, It's a crime if anyone else loses there place for Flintoff to come in.
Milky Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Collingwood surely must get replaced by Flintoff in the next test, It's a crime if anyone else loses there place for Flintoff to come in. Wrong. Why not get rid of one of the bowlers, and keep the 4 man attack with the benefit of a longer batting lineup.
The People's Hero Posted 11 July 2008 Author Posted 11 July 2008 Wrong. Why not get rid of one of the bowlers, and keep the 4 man attack with the benefit of a longer batting lineup. Because Collingwood offers very little with the bat at the moment.
Milky Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Because Collingwood offers very little with the bat at the moment. so you want a 5 man bowling attack?
The People's Hero Posted 11 July 2008 Author Posted 11 July 2008 so you want a 5 man bowling attack? I think when Flintoff is fit enough and ready, it needs a complete re-look, not necessarily just a 1 for 1 swap. That said, I would be surprised if Collingwood is still in when Flintoff is back. Surprised and slightly annoyed. He looks like a man who needs a break from it.

Shah is knocking on the door. perhaps swap him for colly.
Joe. Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 It's nice to see Bell posting a good total, he's needed it for a while now. Also a mention to Broad who's looking very handy with the bad today. You forget how decent he can be sometimes.
Milky Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Broad could well be an England legend one day. no pressure.
The People's Hero Posted 11 July 2008 Author Posted 11 July 2008 Broad could well be an England legend one day. no pressure. I think he's got to do a LOT wrong to not become a very good England player for a long, long time. Legend? Quite possibly. Having said that (and not wanting to piss on his parade) but I'd like to see him bowl the aussies out over there etc etc.
Fox You Forest Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Wrong. Why not get rid of one of the bowlers, and keep the 4 man attack with the benefit of a longer batting lineup. You wouldn't be losing anything in batting anyway as he isn't scoring any runs. What bowler has underperforemed with the ball to the same extent as Collingwood has with the bat? to justify dropping him. Either way it's going to be very interesting how they juggle it around to fit Flintoff in. I agree about Broad he just looks quality and seems to get alot better every game.
SamL Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Great play by Pietersen and Bell, especially the latter. Even Broady got in on the act of scoring runs. We're now in a great position, if we can bowl South Africa out cheaply, we'll be in with a great chance.
Maybes Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Let Bell get his 200 and declare. Get them in for 30mins to an hour tonight, would be my plan of action.
SamL Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Rain has stopped play again. We're in a very strong position in the match, the only thing stopping us challenging for the win could be the weather.
Uncle Albert Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Collingwood should be the man to go WHEN Freddie fit to play. Colly needs a bit of a break like the one that Strauss went on and has come back. Bell and Pietersen were brilliant and to have Broady come in and knock up 76 is class. I agree with Rob's plan of action, give them 30 mins tonight and hopefully take a wicket.
Fox You Forest Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 Rain has stopped play again. We're in a very strong position in the match, the only thing stopping us challenging for the win could be the weather. And the South African batsmen.
SamL Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 And the South African batsmen. What I meant was that to win the match, we've got to take 20 wickets but the weather could prevent us from doing that. But yes, the South African batsman will have to play their part. As for the argument as to who Flintoff should replace, I'd go for Collingwood. Collingwood looks like he needs a break from cricket at the moment and he's in such poor form. If we go into a match with a 4 pronged attack, Colly usually has a bowl anyway.
Fox You Forest Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 I bet he's so gutted out on 199. Still a brilliant knock.
Finnegan Posted 11 July 2008 Posted 11 July 2008 What a berk. Sits there all day, knocks up 199 and then tries the spectacular.
