Daggers Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 If your idea of music is mindless rap/funk/R&B then you may as well go find a different thread now. This band discovered a real form of the blues during Screamadelica and this is one quality piece of compact disk...or it will be when I buy it tomorrow having spent the day listening to the download. Two tracks in particular power out of the album as wonderful blues/pop crossovers and unlike the Tricky album that bored me so much a couple of days ago this demanded to be repeated as soon as the final track died the first time around. It's not Screamadelica though. That will never be equalled.
James. Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 I saw them on Saturday night in Serbia. Oh yes. Screamadelica is one of those albums. You know what I mean. I really don't listen to them as much as I should. I used to listen to Vanishing Point and XTRMNTR quite a bit... loved the way they moved effortlessly to a darker sound (probably something to do with Bobby's heroin addiction). Tunes like Swastika Eyes, Pills, Kill All Hippies, Burning Wheel... all quality. Will have to check out this album... missed out on some of the set they did at Exit so not sure if I heard any of their new stuff.

James. Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 I challenge you to mention Serbia in each of your next 25 posts. I'm still trying to get Cuba into all my posts. Anyway I can't help it if I went to the best music festival in Europe. Primal Scream were great to be honest, although they were (surprisingly) beaten by The Streets in terms of the best live act that I saw. You may scoff at The Streets but Mike Skinner really does know how to work a crowd (a crowd in Serbia that is ).
Trav Le Bleu Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 When it comes to longevity no "bands" hold a candle to Primal Scream. Screamadelica is an awesome album that covers a span of genres on a galactic scale. Their music since has been consistantly top-quality. They never disappoint.
stez Posted 16 July 2008 Posted 16 July 2008 i have every primal scream album. but i'm usually let down (except vanishing point, XTRMNTR and evil heat) i need convincing first
Daggers Posted 16 July 2008 Author Posted 16 July 2008 i need convincing first I'm reckoning that if you don't gain a lot from anything after Screamadelica then you may wish to give it a miss. Or listen to it first?
hairy Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 There is great song on the B side of the CDS too called Jesus Is My Air - O - Plane. The cover of Hawkwinds Urban Guerilla is class too. They have been going 25 years this year. I am glad they have moved away from the darker stuff that Kevin Shields influenced them into. Saw them in London a few months back. They played Loaded, Movin On Up and Higher Than the Sun as their encore. Mrs H was made up.

Finnegan Posted 17 July 2008 Posted 17 July 2008 Almost as good as: "Just what is it you want to do?"
Finchy Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 This new album is great!!! Can't go back is just a classic Scream song. They will never beat XTRMNTR though. What a perfect album that is!
