lildave3 Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 League One mate, £23 adult ticket, 23,351 is an excellent effort IMO and even the atmosphere was half-decent. I agree. Especially with the atmosphere bit, L1 looked and sounded very good and even the kop was quite good. For the kop's standards anyway like.
davieG Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 From OS Leicester City today sent out a heartfelt message of thanks to their supporters after registering a crowd of over 23,000 for their opening game of the League One campaign. That figure gave the Foxes the fourth biggest attendance in the country on the day - despite their third tier status. In fact, the likes of Coventry City, Charlton, QPR and Crystal Palace were left in Leicester's wake, while the next highest crowd in League One was at Huddersfield, where just over 15,000 fans were present. Meanwhile, the Foxes also confirmed that the newly named Spion Kop had been a complete sell out at the Walkers Stadium on the day. Chairman Milan Mandaric said: "This sends out a clear message not only to our rivals in League One, but also to everyone else in the game - we will not lie down and die. "There is a real feeling of unity in this city. We have all dusted ourselves down after what was a terrible year, and have come back stronger." And manager Nigel Pearson echoed those sentiments: "The reaction from the crowd on the day was incredibly positive and they will play a big part in helping us to get out of this division."
Basingstoke Fox Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Bloody hell weve still beaten most of the championship, its just quite funny now!
moseeds Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Beat forest's attendance as well they managed 21,571 according to skysports website
purpleronnie Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Beat forest's attendance as well they managed 21,571 according to skysports website Was on tv though, but I did expect a bigger crowd.
Corky Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I think it was a good effort. A few would have been on holiday as well, so nearly 23 and a half thousand, after the last five years, is a good turn-out. If we stay near the top it will probably rise.
Corky Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 I don't know if anyone else read the Mercury yesterday, but that survey on local kids supporting Leicester was quite concerning.

Floating Fox Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 Very impressive attendence to be fair. Saying that only 3 clubs in the championship had a higher attendence, there was only 1500 away fans instead of the usual 3k and we didn't have any poxy offers on, top effort from our fans. Won't be long before the negativity sets in though.

Guest Posted 10 August 2008 Posted 10 August 2008 23,352. Respectable without doubt but a long way short of the club's 25,000 prediction. What bullshit they come out with. Not that far short of it to be fair. I was impressed with the turnout and the atmos was better than usual
