Looking for first job

Its more about who you know these days i find.

So ask around family or freinds too... could help.

I love how you're giving advice on how to get a job.

That's almost as bad as, well almost as bad as me giving advice on how to get a job.

Where did you do work experience? Maybe if you go there and ask they might help you out, thats how I got my first job.

I know that getting a job in the Kiosk's at The Walkers is pretty easy but that will of course mean you won't be able to watch home games, but it'll fund your away days.

I was at Alliance and Leicester, and recently they've been laying people off like there's no tomorrow. They don't want new people there atm apparently.

Knowing how to get a job, and getting one are two different kettles of fish.

Places in the Highcross centre are still available. Im 18 and had plenty of interviews for different stores etc, so you should be alright, might be a little late now but worth a try :)

Not sure what to put in my CV for skills, qualities and hobbies.

It's interesting how when I think about it I find I don't have any.

Also, in a CV do you include a picture?

I'm new to this sort of thing.

Two hours a week? Some customers will spend more time in there than you

You sound pretty similar to me.

Ive managed to get myself an interview at B&Q tomorrow morning. It'll only be work experience so 2/3 days a week for a few weeks. Hopefully i'll impress and be considered for full time.

*and I dont think you need a picture on your CV  I havent anyway.

Try the your nearest wacky warehouse, barrel o laughs.

I worked there a full year, but had to give it up once I served Paddy McCarthy and he was interested in a party and I asked would a saturday do! At the time it was a mistake but looking back I felt McAuley deserved a start.

I got my first job at a major supermarket when i was 15 stayed 3 and a half years and there was always a bevy of young female talent on offer. Managment wore always happy to have you chop and change shifts as required and pick up more during the holidays.

No picture neccessary really.

For hobbies try things like sports, cinema, reading and socialising. More detail and fitted to you though obviously.

Skills e.g. Hard working, fast learner blah blah blah.

CVs are mostly greatly exaggerated or even outright lies. :/

It's the interview that's important.

Played on finding somewhere ;) Hope it gets easier/more fun for you.

I've completed my CV now and probably Saturday will go into town and start giving them to managers. Sent a couple online but to no reply yet.

I'm in the same boat, except I didn't do work experience, I just went into the office on the last day and told them I wasn't doing it. Got a bollocking but the 2 weeks was awesome at school, just sorting stuff out in the PE department and playing with everything. Plus the teachers brought in Ice Cream for us and we had a right laugh. I reckon I'll put it as work experience on my CV, 'filing and sorting' as it technically was.

I need to write up my CV but keep putting it off.

Today went better except for one moment with a customer.

I was asked where something was when I was heading to get a drink, obviously being new I wouldnt know, but we agreed that I went and found someone who did. I found somebody, but they were distracted by somebody else and ended up not helping her. I walked past this woman about 10 mins later who said to me (snottily) "i've found some help myself". Took me a few seconds to realise she was being serious, which was good as when it hit me that she was serious, I whispered back "fook you."

Is B&Q any good? Am fed up of working at Next and need a job closer to home. Might crank off my CV.

You're probably better off asking somebody who's been there longer than I have.

I guess it depends if you have any real interest in DIY stuffs. I dont (lol) but i've accepted to work there a few days a week (as im desperate) but so far i've enjoyed it.

Don't really have too much interest but I know a bit about Hardware and stuff like that. What's the pay like?

Looking for a job starting soon for this next school year...to fund my planned regular away games.

Anyone know of any places with vacances/somewhere worth asking?

Not looking for anything major like.

Tried McDonalds, and got rejected.

Damn. Judging by your strapline I thought you were an aspiring burglar! :D

I wouldn't know. I'm not getting payed for this, just the £30 EMA every week from my college course type thing.
