Joe. Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Saw these yesterday at Leeds, Helicopter was as Smuts described it, epic. Such a class tune live. Looks like I need to get my hands on this one, I'll get onto downloading it now.
Matt Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Just got it, Currently on 3rd track, It's great so far, I have the same opinion as pretty much everyone Silent Alarm is still brilliant and still listen to it quite often now, A Weekend In The City was quite poor, but Intimacy is back to their Silent Alarm form.

Seeing as I have mastered about 6 chords to date, it could take some time.....
Mark Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 I would kill to be able to play it on my guitar. Seeing as I have mastered about 6 chords to date, it could take some time..... Try and play the intro, its straight forward and will give you some satifaction
Guest Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Try and play the intro, its straight forward and will give you some satifaction I looked at the tabs, and sat down and wept, I am afraid. Am I giving up too easily?
Mark Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Oh if you've only done chords then I'm guessing you've not done any lead yet. Anyway, this is the little riff they play at the beginning of the song. The numbers are the fret. e|------------------------------------------| B|------------------------------------------| G|------------------------------------------| D|------9-9--7-7--4-4-------4-4--11-11--9-9-| A|------------------------------------------| E|-7-7-----------------5-5-----------------| ---1-1--3-3--1-1--1-1--2-2--1-1--3--3--1-1--| I've added the fingers you can use below to play it. It's the best to start with as you have to move up and down a few times and thats not easy just starting out.

Cheers for that! I'm one of these funny buggers who can read tabs/music/etc, but then get totally confuddled when trying to play it. This may be down to me playing left handed. It was the same when my footy coach tried to teach us the Cruyff turn.
Samilktray Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Downloadin Silent Alarm now.Been told its there best album. It really is there best album having now listened to all 3. Only other Indie band (if you class Bloc Party as indie) that I've really liked was Arctic Monkeys, and there make them look so bland and boring. Anybody know if there gonna be doing any gigs around Leicester anytime soon?

syston_fox Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 Where are you kids downloading it from and.........................is it free.
Guest Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 The Cruyff turn is easy, how on earth can you get confused doing that? It's easy if the bloke had just demonstrated and left us to it, but oh no, he had to start talking over the top, and I get me left and right muddled up, and I ended up on me arse more often than not.
Flynny Posted 25 August 2008 Posted 25 August 2008 I've listened to it three times again today. It's brilliant. I still reckon the opener's the best track n'all.
Joe. Posted 26 August 2008 Posted 26 August 2008 Anybody know if there gonna be doing any gigs around Leicester anytime soon? I doubt it to be honest, I think they're probably a bit bigger than Leicester now. We really do need a bigger music venue...
General Smuts Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 www.isohunt.com Then using uTorrent downloadering it up.

They played DMH durnig the Silent Alarm tour and Kele Okereke punched me in the face. Russell (the one with a better fringe than me) signed my ex-girlfriends shoe. And one of my friends cried when we met them cos she was 'soooooo happy'. Nutjob.
Darkzzz_ Posted 27 August 2008 Posted 27 August 2008 OK it is slowly winning me over after a few more listens. I still think the first album is the best and I also really liked the second album as well to be honest. I will need to keep listening for it to completely have me under it's spell.

General Smuts Posted 28 August 2008 Posted 28 August 2008 Can i ask why he punched you ? He punches everyone nowadays. Eddie Argos, Johnny Rotten, Me. He'll get himself a reputation. The story - as he walked out a doorway putting on his coat and swinging his arms wildly he promptly cracked me in my bonce while i walked past the doorway ringing for a taxi.

Bit of an idoit he was then.
Flynny Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 It's a good 8 song mini album.Starting at track 3 Track 3's the worst! Generic "look we're still bloc party" with no ebb and flow to it. Dull, done by rote, pandering, etc, etc.
Guest Posted 29 August 2008 Posted 29 August 2008 The verdict of the Glen Parva jury is "it's no Silent Alarm, but is still quite good".
Tilley Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Only started getting into Bloc Party over the last few months, Now have all three albums on my iPod, they are awesome. This album is very good.
