Stig the Lawnmower Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 According to fossils and foxes the most consecutive number of wins we have had is 7 (league games only) in 1908, 1925, 1962 and 1993. surely this season must be our best chance of improving that, or am I being a tad optomistic? its early days yet, but if leeds are our biggest threat we have 19 games before we face them. two wins so far, our next five are Tranmere (H) win Cheltenham (A) must win Colchester (A) may be difficult Millwall (H) resounding win! Leyton Orient (A) win I would think but plenty of other opportunities after that Consecutive games unbeaten is 19 in 1971, that would be hard to beat, but other records such as most points, most goals (not at this rate) must be within reach What do you think? Mind you, my edition of fossils is year 2001, did we get more than seven consecutive wins last season?!! <_<

I still think your disrespecting the opposition to some extent and thinking this season will be 'easy'.
lildave3 Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 More chance of doing the unbeated run than consecutive wins.
Stig the Lawnmower Posted 22 August 2008 Author Posted 22 August 2008 One win so far. (League)Second win was a cup match, Third draw. I still think your disrespecting the opposition to some extent and thinking this season will be 'easy'. not disrespecting the opposition by any means. but I still think we have the opportunity this season to do well and you HAVE to be optomistic after the shit we've put up with recently, otherwise what have you to look forward to?
Matt Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 not disrespecting the opposition by any means. but I still think we have the opportunity this season to do well and you HAVE to be optomistic after the shit we've put up with recently, otherwise what have you to look forward to? Call me a pessimist but after the shit we've put up with recently is exactly the reason I am looking at the facts and keeping my feet on the ground, for what 4, 5 years now? Every season (Pre season) I have been excited - "This is the season it will all change" I have been telling myself, even mid-table i'd have been happy with, no fook it, bottom half of the Championship just out a relegation battle and i'd have been happy - but every season I have been disappointed and felt embarrassed by my team, however i've stuck by them (Like all of us). I have been excited for this season, I am excited and impressed so far but I have learnt to ground myself a little more, not get carried away and look at the facts more. Before looking at a 7 wins a row, lets get 2 first? Something we have been looking at for the past year.
Alan Young Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Sounds lik a bit of chicken counting going on to me.
Spiritwalker Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Yeah lets get 2 first but really we should tear this division up so there's no reason we shouldn't break some records along the way.
Ricosas Adianski Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Haha Give us city fans 2 wins and the optimsm shoots up. Even if it was against Stockport and The franchise.
Spiritwalker Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 I'm not one to say I told you so but I did say get your money on Leicester to win this division at 5-1 and now the odds are tumbling.
Legend_in_blue Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 We should expect to beat the majority of teams comfortably in this league. I wish some fans would stop being so cautious with regards to this and saying stuff like disrespectful and arrogant and such like. We are the biggest club in this league. Along with Leeds. We should be running the show so to speak. We should be going out there and showing all who's boss. Why should we be playing second fiddle to the likes of Carlisle, Colchester or whoever it happens to be? No chance. We have the resources, we have the setup, we have the squad. All it needs is professionalism and we should find ourselves out of this league with 10 games to go. So far, we've made a positive start. Keep it going. So far, I'm impressed.
Matt Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 I hope we go up obviously I really do, but 1 league win, 1 league draw, and 1 cup win, and some people are saying told ya you should have got your moneys on us to go up... 2 GAMES
Nationwider Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Let's hope we can build on our current 0 consecutive league wins tomorrow.
Chairman of the Bored Posted 22 August 2008 Posted 22 August 2008 Don't tempt fate! But I would expect a run of wins from February (ish) until the end of the season, bar Carlisle at home, which will be a draw.
Webbo Posted 23 August 2008 Posted 23 August 2008 I know it's early days yet but I get the feeling we;re on to something special this season. Assuming a) We improve as the season continues. b) All the teams are as bad as the ones we've seen so far. I think we could break some club/division record such as record points, most games unbeaten etc. Don't all jump on me at once I'm just saying could.

Stig the Lawnmower Posted 23 August 2008 Author Posted 23 August 2008 OK, here we go consecutive wins ......... one (record seven) consecutive games since defeat ......... three (all competitions four, record nineteen) clean sheets ........... none (could have been four - record is seven) long way to go!!!!
