DB11 Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Where's DJ?I wanted to give him a crap mark! Gotta play at least 45 minutes he said before
Daggers Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Gotta play at least 45 minutes he said before Aha
thybluefox Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Gotta play at least 45 minutes he said before Didn't max gradel play less than that? He's still there?
DB11 Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Didn't max gradel play less than that? He's still there? See below: Winger Lloyd Dyer managed to claim a second place spot and veteran Paul Dickov rounded off the top three. Matty Fryatt seemed to make less of an impact in his 45 minutes of player ending with the flop of the match award. (Note. 45 mins is the minimum to be considered for these awards).
davieG Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Gotta play at least 45 minutes he said before Aha Didn't max gradel play less than that? He's still there? It was 45 minutes to qualify for an award e.g MOM etc. Gradel played 45 minutes. I think it's 15 to qualify for voting.
mikelcfc Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 not to be picky or anything but are you saying that say a player scores a first half het trick and assists a fourth goal , but for some reason is substituted after only 40 , he cant be selected as motm????

Them's the rules - and without rules where would we be?
mikelcfc Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 we wud be able to give dj a crap mark.. thats were we would be and.... if there were no rules then the 3 goals we had dissallowed would have stood and we wudnt have got relegated
Head Honcho Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 A 9 for Dyer and 7 and 8s the for the rest of the team. DJ was only on for a short while but he really isn't getting with the programme. He was at sixes and sevens for all his time on the pitch and just looked out of place.

TrickyTrev Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Just got back. Fantastic and well deserved result. If anything we could have had more. Martin 7 Almost nout to do but claimed a couple of crosses well and his distribution was good, always finding the head of Howard. Gilbert 7 A bit more reserved away from home than his cafu-esque displays at the walkers. His pace and enacity mean that he wins a lot of ball for the side and is a very solid full back indeed. Excellent signing it must be said. Morrison 7 Couple of nervy moments in the first half but an okay performance. Hobbs 8 Just wins everything in the air. I hope we have a shot at signing him next summer because he is good enough to lead a Championship promotion charge. Tunchev 7 Solid if unspectacular in what is evidently his secondary position. Dickov 6 Few nice touches and passess but I'm still not convinced by him as a winger. Worryingly, he seemed to to tire in the heat. Unlucky to get booked which prevented him from getting properly stuck in. King 9 Easily the best I have seen him play. A couple of cracking passes, including one through to Dyer in the first pass with the outside of his right which was particuarly delicious. A bullet effort in the second that would have been a screamer if it were half a yard the otherside of the post. When his confidence was up and he was given the time to play he looked a class act. May be worth persisiting with when he is not perfomring or looking lost in the hope he can begin to play like this reguarly. Oakley 9 Far, far, far too good for this division. Great goal, passing, movement, anticipation and leadership. Dyer 9 Two cracking goals and a threat all afternoon. Loved how much he wanted a hattrick in the last 10. Levi who? Howard 8 Scored a perfectly good goal and won every header he contested. He even outpaced somebody down the right in the second half! Fryatt 8 I was moaning when he stepped up to take the free kick that he always drifts them too gently and never threatens. Proved me wrong! Great strike, although the keeper will be dissapointed to concede on his side of the goal. Ran well all afternoon and showed good skill. Could have had another but for a fine save inthe first and a close miss from atight angle after having rounded the keeper. Gradel 7 Looked lively and gave us better shape. Set up Howard's "goal" with a fine cross. Hung on to the ball for too long on a couple of occaisions though. He is an exciting winger though and if we want him to do exciting things we have to accept that sometimes his ideas will not come off. Powell 6 Looked like he was still fit enough but one dreadful cross when in loads of space. Think he'll be more than dependable till Mattock gets back.
Jimmy Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Them's the rules - and without rules where would we be? France!
RoyFox Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 It was 45 minutes to qualify for an award e.g MOM etc. Gradel played 45 minutes. I think it's 15 to qualify for voting. David Martin 7 - didn't have to do much, chelts had nothing up front Kerrea Gilbert 8 - very good, way above league one class, very fit, very assured Aleksandar Tunchev - 7 played l back, out of position, did fine Michael Morrison - 8 really good, cleared all threats worked comfortably with Hobbs Jack Hobbs - 8 - ditto Paul Dickov - 6 played right wing, why he played instead of gradel I don't know Lloyd Dyer - 9 great performance, I stood in the chelt end as we sold out - even the chelt fans commended him. took on everyone, superb running and ensuring there was a constant outlet for the defence and oakley/king 2 goals showed composure Matt Oakley 8 solid captain performance, well taken goal Andy King 7 - getting better kept it simple Steve Howard 7 Matty Fryatt 7 Max Gradel 7
dilko2008 Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 He even outpaced somebody down the right in the second half! my word i would have wanted to see that
syston_fox Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 7 to most, 8 to Tunchev and Big Steve and 9 for Lloyd Dyer. Might seem a bit harsh keeping the ratings low in most cases but it was almost a training match against a very poor Cheltenham side.
Thracian Posted 30 August 2008 Posted 30 August 2008 David Martin 6 (One excellent save to his left, a few more basic saves and two or three mistakes that might have been costly including an attempted throw-out almost blocked on the way out of his hands by an attacker he wasn't aware of and a daisy-cutting kick-out which could well have landed at a striker's feet) Kerrea Gilbert 7.75 (Top notch again. Very sharp, one vital clearance, gave his opponent no joy whatsoever and found time to assist in attack. For me we're not missing Stearman one bit). Aleksandar Tunchev 6.75 (Excellent defending early on but was rounded too easily on a couple of ocasions when, fortunately, their winger twice hit his final ball somewhere between the town centre and the racecourse). Michael Morrison 7.75 (Commanding. Cheltenham's strikers were like hacks against our thoroughbred defenders) Jack Hobbs 7.75 (Together with Morrison just swallowed every ball that was aimed down the centre with the minimum of fuss and, with the others, calmly set new attacks in motion) Paul Dickov 6 (He's a quality striker but I've still to find anyone who understands us playing Dickov out wide. He had his moments and almost created a goal for Fryatt but with Pearson having the choice of Gradel, Adams and Porter out wide it verges on the insulting to pick Dickov there and we might well have won by six had we fielded our strongest team throughout). Lloyd Dyer 9 (Two well taken goals, endless involvement in tormenting the Cheltenham defence, kept his width well when it was needed and was constantly available to keep moves going. Almost worth a 10) Matt Oakley 7.75 (He and King ruled in midfield, particularly as the game progressed, and his first goal of the season was a long-range beauty. It was again pronounced hoiw the two shared the burden of going foward and holding back. Andy King 8 (Masterful. In defence and attack King did exactly what was required. So unlucky not to score with a shot that was brilliantly tipped over and another pildriver that whistled narrowly wide he also put on corner on Howard's head that he nodded narrowly wide, made Dyer's last goal with a precision pass and almost put him in for another goal earlier. Defensively he mopped up so many situations with calm reassurance. Steve Howard 7.75 (Looks to be enjoying his football again. Won everything. Had what looked to me a perfectly good goal disallowed from Gradel's inch-perfect cross and should probably have scored from King's corner. Did so much to keep Cheltenham occupied and to make himself available exactly where he was wanted). Matty Fryatt 8 (Don't know which bright spark wanted Fryatt dropped but Matty helped himself to a cracking fifth goal for the season from a 25-yard free kick that looked a goal from the split-second he struck it. Beat the keeper and pulled another shot narrowly wide and did so well to recover a lost cause after being tackled and pull the ball back for Oakley's goal. Cheltenham had no idea how to subdue him from start to finish and it was great to see him make a point of shaking his strike partner's hand when he went off). Max Gradel 6.5 (Quietish generally but was denied the perfect assist with a precision cross that led to Howard's needlessly disallowed header and almost fed Dyer a goal but the latter fired wide, two contributions that emphasise my belief that, however he plays, he always makes things happen and represents danger). Powell and DJ (not involved long enough). Referee: (Just another opponent we had to cope with). Pearson 7 (I feel grieved to give him such a low mark for taking us top of the League cos he seems to be building something special. But playing Dickov wide again offered no benefits that I could see. And using DJ and Powell so late served no purpose for anyone unless perhaps it gave them a bigger win bonus for taking part or something).

Bringing on DJ made perfect sense to me as the game was already won and he needs to try and get a goal to boost his confidence.

He ran for everything, set the pace of the game and came off just at the right time.

Today was the perfect opportunity to have given him 20 minutes.
