You're asking a lot. Some of them can't get sufficient match time even now and not having a proper reserves side makes the situation even worse.

Look at DJ. Bit part player for the six matches so far and now facing a fortnight's break after tomorrow's game. It's already starting to affect his performance as was clear to see with some of his close control on Saturday.

Kishishev's another. At least he could and did play in the reserves last season but this year what can he do? He's unlikely to be first choice in midfield so all he has to look forward to is a possible appearance in cup games or on the bench.

They are just two examples but there are others and it's not a situation I envy Pearson. He's fortunate in having a genuine shadow player for most of his first teamers but cursed in having no real chance to play them anywhere and keep them sharp.

Seems to me he's going to need the wisdom of Solomon to keep everyone happy because the huge difference between now and the situation in recent seasons is that it's good players being left out every week, not bad ones or kids who could be quietly ignored as "too inexperienced".

In the days of Levein, Kelly and Holloway there might have been discontent but sidelined players were still well enough paid and hardly ever had any prospects of leaving for better things or even anything comparable.

But the substitutes and leftovers of today's side could be playing for any number of clubs and perhaps even in The Championship. People like Porter, Campbell, Wesolowski, Henderson and Kisnorbo when he returns (or whoever he displaces).

Last season we had Kisnorbo and McAuley at centre-back and no-one else justified a look in. In a month or so we'll have Tunchev, Morrison, Hobbs and Kisnorbo. Which two of those are going to be happy on a bench?

If Pearson can keep all our players, and keep them positive, it will be a tribute to him indeed. But it's a tough call and I hope he pulls it off.

I'm glad that someone has that much faith in his abilities that he could hold down a job in a Championship side - but could you let me know which match you've ever seen him demonstrate these qualities since he's joined us Thac as it must have been one I missed?

Getting Hobbs on a pemanant deal may be hard after his caps for Liverpool last season.

I'm increasingly aware that I'm in a fast-dwindling minority of fans who still believe that Campbell has something to offer.

And, while I've been in a minority before but have never had any doubts about the likes of King, Porter or Gradel, I just might have it totally wrong about Campbell.

To me he's one of the hardest players to evaluate partly because he never gets a consistent run in the team.

His whole career at Leicester has been bitty. Either because of injury or because he's never really been first choice.

I see a player who's quick, elusive, and who can get into dangerous positions but his end product is erratic at best, his ability to cog with the team questionable and his overall contribution disappointing.

But are his frustrating performances due to not playing enough, not playing in the attacking side he'd have now, because he was injured or because, for one reason or another he's just not going to be good enough?

We kept Fryatt despite his poor form over the last two seasons. But Fryatt was always going to score in Division One.

My instinct would be to keep Campbell too - he offers something different in any case - but I do ask myself could we do better?

Ashley Chambers might have provided the answer but injury cost him dearly which is a pity.

PS: I cannot recall Campbell playing an outstanding game for us but then he's still not played that many and has been subbed on or off in nearly every one.
