Asha Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 I think the fact that if this were an 'end of the world' thread it wouldn't have just 8 pages. Clearly bollocks.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Scientist prepares to turn on Large Hadron Collider.
Floating Fox Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 We'll I've had a Warsteiner down the pub tonight.. Thats how every self-respecting man should go.
Uncle Albert Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 NSLL I think your scared. He is upset that he will never be able to meet his true love. Poor sod.
Porky Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 S'alright guys. We can pretty much relax tomorrow, as they're only going to fire a beam through the collider. Thus meaning no collision...I hope. However, do remember to mark down October 21 in your diaries, as that's the day they will start the high-energy collisions and possible annihilation.

Foxhateram Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 Ow I am playing Badminton that day. Bastards. we are going to be fine. Its something that has been radiculously hyped up by un-informed journalists (To sell Papers) and miss-informed personel. There is absolutly nothing to worry about. We are not going to have a Half life style storyline on our hands. http://askanexpert.web.cern.ch/AskAnExpert...ckholes-en.html

fox123 Posted 9 September 2008 Author Posted 9 September 2008 I find it ironic that a Scientist working @ Cern who changed the world in giving us the World Wide Web, could end the world (should you wish to believe that) working on the LHC!

Birthday.
Foxhateram Posted 9 September 2008 Posted 9 September 2008 I find it ironic that a Scientist working @ Cern who changed the world in giving us the World Wide Web, could end the world (should you wish to believe that) working on the LHC! I guess they just see this as a step forward for science, it would answer so many unanswered theories in one big swoop. He also clearly states that the black holes that could potentially be produced would not harm the Earth. he is also certain that there will be no effect on the Earth. I remain skeptical. Is there anything else that could reassure me? "Yes. The most important thing perhaps is that, like you, we CERN’s scientists also have families, parents, children, and friends. There is no way that we'd put their lives at risk. And we are not talking about accepting "small chances", like 1 in 50 million or whatever. We are talking about wanting to be absolutely certain that absolutely nothing can happen." You and me both know that scientists will not put out certain statements unless they entirely sure. They are like polititions they are always covering their backs with words such as potentially etc.... uinless they are entirely confident and sure of what they are saying.

Oh I agree I think that it's the people that want to believe in what they believe is the creation of the Universe that are making these ficticous rumours up about the end of the Earth and all that bollocks....it only takes one doubter! He's got the whole World in his hands, so to speak!
Porky Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Yes then. Birthday. How unlucky...having a birthday the same day as Earth's destruction. At least you'll go out with a bang, eh? Edit: So, you say a large one may cause destruction, what about a Super large one?. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Large_Hadron_Collider

Asha Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Let’s assume you have just bought a new electric shaver. I have never seen you shaving and therefore I fear that by shaving yourself in the morning, you could actually trigger a chain reaction that blows up the universe.
Bellend Sebastian Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 Scientist prepares to turn on Large Hadron Collider. I've completed Half Life and Half Life 2, so if it all goes tits up today, stick with me and you'll be alright
