So why is LD3 a mentor. Why should he replace James? Not doubting the fact he should be a mentor or anything just asking.

There is no reason for James to be replaced. Especially by LD3 who, despite 'hating' this competition, is clearly desperate to join in... shame he didn't pick a better song!
