Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 No it ****ing isn't. It might be easy where you're from, but where I am I looked around Town, applied for several places, and either heard nothing back or was unsuccessful. There were no vacancies available for what I was interested in. When I have no experience i'm not going to stand much chance am I. Alot of places will take you on at Christmas with a view to a full time job. Many of my friends are still in jobs they took around the Christmas rush.
SamL Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Get used to it. I will. Same thing is happening to my mum at the moment, she's just finished Uni. It's just the World we live in at the moment, jobs are hard to come by. Anyone looking for a job at the moment just needs to keep persevering with it.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Anyone got these back dated payments yet? Still waiting on mine.
SamL Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Anyone got these back dated payments yet? Still waiting on mine. Nope, I'm still waiting to be sent a form that I can take into college to be signed.
DB11 Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Same thing is happening to my mum at the moment, she's just finished Uni. Wtf how old was she when she had you
Uncle Albert Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Wtf how old was she when she had you Ever heard of mature students?
SamL Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Wtf how old was she when she had you Fool. As Uncle Albert pointed out, she was a mature student.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Nope, I'm still waiting to be sent a form that I can take into college to be signed. That contract pt.1 thing? I never got that, just a confirmation that the payments would be made, which as of yet haven't. I'm a bit worried that I'll never get these payments because I haven't had to hand in a contract.

I'm a bit worried that I'll never get these payments because I haven't had to hand in a contract. Yeah you get a confirmation of the amount which you'll recieve and you should get a two part contract with it as well. Part one of the contract you sign and keep for yourself, while the second part you hand to your college and they send it off to the EMA people.
DB11 Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Fool. As Uncle Albert pointed out, she was a mature student. Mature you mean older than the normal Uni student?? Oh. No I've not ever heard of them either.
potter3 Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Mature you mean older than the normal Uni student??Oh. No I've not ever heard of them either.
Asha Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Mature you mean older than the normal Uni student??Oh. No I've not ever heard of them either. Really? When people go to university later in life to get a degree? It's not always 18-21 year olds. My old man just finished a psychology degree thing, and he's 43.

Part one of the contract you sign and keep for yourself, while the second part you hand to your college and they send it off to the EMA people. Did you get them both together? So far all I have is a black and white letter saying "your application has been processed and your payments will be made". No sign of the contract. This is really pissing me off.
JakeShingler Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 I've kinda followed this thread (not loads) but people saying that they can't get a job is load of crap.I'm 15 and I've got a Saturday job that pays £40 a day and then I referee twice on a Sunday that gets me £23 a game so that is £46 a week just working at the weekend. People seriously don't have time to do that? That's just a crappy excuse saying you need the EMA cos you don't have enough time to find work. Im the same as you but i play my self on Sundays and do not no were to get a saturday job.
Brainy Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Im the same as you but i play with my self on Sundays and do not no were to get a saturday job. thats kind of your fault.. what do you wanna do when youre older jake?

So far all I have is a black and white letter saying "your application has been processed and your payments will be made". No sign of the contract. This is really pissing me off. I have it as well, it's an A4 sheet with 2 identical contracts on it, one which you sign and one which you keep. As soon as you give this in, you can start recieving payments and will get backdated payments within a few days.

Yeah I know what it is I've been getting it for the past two years. I'm just pissed off that those ****s at fooking EMA HQ can't be arsed to do anything right. I asked for an application pack for this year, which they said would be sent in no more than 7 working days. 4 weeks later, it arrived. And this was after I'd rung them up several times requesting application forms.
SamL Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Mature you mean older than the normal Uni student??Oh. No I've not ever heard of them either. You don't have to be 18-21 years old to go to University, you can go at any age providing you've reached the entry requirements. Adults wanting to go may want to change career, or further themselves with better qualifications. Use your common sense here. If I'm seventeen, my Mum is hardly going to be 18-21 is she?

So far all I have is a black and white letter saying "your application has been processed and your payments will be made". No sign of the contract. This is really pissing me off. I haven't recieved either yet. I sent off my application around the end of July but sent a photocopy of the evidence they need. They sent it back 2 weeks ago saying that they required an original. I don't remember reading anywhere that they needed an original. They need to get their act together anyway.

It's a joke.
SamL Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 They really do. It's a joke. Their excuse is that they're trying to implement a new system of dealing with applications. Why do this when it's their busiest time of the year? It's a joke.
Alexikokopops Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 Are you sure you weren't just on a drug trip and confused the thing you had to sign with 600 bars of Neutrogena soap?
Guest Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 I will. Same thing is happening to my mum at the moment, she's just finished Uni. It's just the World we live in at the moment, jobs are hard to come by. Anyone looking for a job at the moment just needs to keep persevering with it. I was in the same boat last year, and my parents (both made redundant) have also struggled to find work. Thankfully we all have jobs now. What really pisses me off is the lack of communication. You could understand that if a job was popular, companies may not want to pay for postage, but when you're asked to apply online or by email, it is more than a little churlish not to have the decency to let someone know that they haven't met the requirements, or whatever.

That's good to hear. My mum's applied for numerous jobs, been to quite a few interviews but is constantly being told she's over qualified or she isn't experienced enough for a job. She hasn't even been told she's been unsuccessful in some of the jobs she's applied for. You'd think the employers would have the decency to inform her. I'm at college at the moment and was hoping to get a part time job but most of the places where I live have been laying people off. This is why EMA could come in handy at the moment, I still haven't received anything from them though. I understand that University students are also struggling to get hold of their funding. I've heard that it's down to the LSC trying to implement a new system for dealing with applications, what a stupid time to do it when it's going to be the busiest time of the year.
