Samilktray Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 I really hate this country. When I move I hope the economy crashes and everyone gets aids.
Wycombe Fox Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Yeah! ****ing benefits system stinks. I know a family down here that gets £3 a day extra because their child is a fussy eater!! ALL KIDS ARE FUSSY EATERS - GET USED TO IT! Same family gets an extra £300 a month because the same child has behavioural difficulties! ALL CHILDREN WILL HAVE BEHAVIOURAL DIFFICULTIES IF YOU DON'T PARENT THEM PROPERLY - GET USED TO THAT ****ER TOO! And where's that parent's incentive to sort the behaviour out when they're going to lose £300 a month by doing so? In the meantime I'll just toe the line, work my butt off and bring my children up to respect society, your neighbour and your neighbour's property. Pretty difficult when you don't seem to get any respect back, just continual shafting! RANT RANT RANT!!
James. Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 This country really is a f**king joke. What a total mess. Everywhere you look things are just getting f**ked up.
Joe. Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 To be honest though, people who don't 'earn' EMA may possibly be better off for it in the long-term run of things. I have to live on what I earn from my two jobs a month which gets me by OK, but I know others who just live off what they earn from EMA because it's easy to. In the future when this is taken away from them they'll have a bit of a shock when they finally have to go out and earn their own money instead of having it handed on a plate. Those who don't get it may be better off for it in terms of money management...

While there is a valid point in there... and it's often a good tonic to take this attitude, it still shouldn't be this way.

I fully agree, and like you too, i have too jobs, work stupid hours just to get by, but i am not going to make much of a comment in here, because i get roastings for it.

I know, the whole system is shocking, but it seems in life you either get nothing or you get everything given to you by the government.
Master Fox Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 You won't have to worry about a thing my love.
Guest Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 The joke is, I go to the doctors this morning as I have an ear infection and a throat infection and the adult equivalent of glue ear. He's given me something for each (different prescriptions) and also my two asthma medications (on different prescriptions).£7.10 per prescription. £28.40. Thanks doc. Would putting it on one fu cking slip have been more trouble for you? A pre-paid prescription certificate for 3 months costs less than that I would be stuffed without one of those during the hayfever season.

Why didn't one of either the doctor or the pharmacist tell me this? I might write a letter of complaint. That will make me feel better.
Tabou Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 I've never been without a job since I was 16, maybe even before that actually.I've washed pots, served meals, poured pints, sold mobile phones, sold building-exterior-wall-coatings door to door, worked as a typist, a tutor, an assistant (dogsbody basically) to an academic department and now work in insurance. There have been very few points in my life (apart from when at uni) when I've had only one job. The joke is, I go to the doctors this morning as I have an ear infection and a throat infection and the adult equivalent of glue ear. He's given me something for each (different prescriptions) and also my two asthma medications (on different prescriptions). £7.10 per prescription. £28.40. Thanks doc. Would putting it on one fu cking slip have been more trouble for you? And my fu cking ear hurts. I actually fell over in my flat this morning through lack of balance. I've been told not to drink because of the antibiotics.. the only good thing about not drinking is that you know you're always good to drive. So then they tell me I shouldn't drive either as my balance/co-ordination is off a bit. Great. I'll sit in my empty flat, drinking tap water, sobbing in to my exorbitant prescription notes. I have had EXACTLEY the same thing. To the point where it became so painful, I drove (not the best idea) myself to the walkin hospital at 1am. Absolute agony. I picked up prescripition the next day (for the second time, got some shit pain killers from my GP that didn't work but cost me £14.20) and had to pay ANOTHER £14.20! When the guy asked "do you pay for your prescripitions?" I said... "Yes. I have paid like £8,000 tax and NI last year. So yes I have already paid. But I'm sure you will still screw me for the £7.10 per set". I had 2 jobs when I was 16. I made a bloody good living too, for a 16 year old. And got 12 GCSEs, and 4 Alevels.

You can get an NHS receipt, and you can back date your PPC so you can claim back the money you have spent, but you can only do this at the time you use the prescription. If you have a repeat prescription, the pharmacist should tell you all about PPC's. It's how I found out. Maybe I should mention it at work......

I do have a repeat prescription now, they've finally got a handle on my asthma so looks like I'm on two medications for that for a while. It's strange, I drink a lot. My body is falling apart but my liver seems to be doing a fine job.
SamL Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Unfortunately, my drugs and alcohol will have to wait a few more weeks. My application form has just been sent back stating that I didn't send the required documentation. They've taken 6 weeks to tell me that.

I've been told that due to this ear problem and due to repeated problems with my throat and sinuses I need to see a specialist at some point in the future. It's all fun and games at the moment.

Thats another thing that annoys me, i have a life long illness "Ulcrative colitus" and yet when i leave education i will have to pay for my medication. Surely i would be best off just not taking the medication, saving me money, but becoming ill, if you can see the point im trying to make, in the badly worded sentence

I sent it back AGAIN missing required information, thankfully though they didnt send it back a second time.

It pisses me off that if you're diabetic you get free treatment, yet asthmatics don't. Both are serious, life threatening conditions, you would expect them to be treated the same.
lavrentis Posted 26 September 2008 Posted 26 September 2008 Hmm I have changed my mind about this. Tbh, I think everyone should get the same amount EMA or nobody should get it. Just because my dad earns bla bla bla money doesn't mean that I shouldn't get it. After all, how does the government know what is coming to me! Quite ridiculous.I know this tit goes to college a few days a week and gets paid for it. I go to college every day and do not. How does that work!
