General Smuts Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 Coach & Horses near the station has been reccomended to me. We like?
Guest Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 When in London, don't go to the pubs near to the ground. This plan has worked well in the past.

James. Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 Pick a pub any pub.Fez???? If you're getting to London early Brick Lane is pretty much on the way. 10 min walk from Liverpool Street Station which is only a few stops on the Central Line from Leyton. Just a thought. Lots of cool bars round there (and obviously cheap curry houses)...
Sparky Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 We always stop at Baker Street and hit the weatherspoons right outside , think its called Metropolitan . Bargain beers and food then move towards whichever ground we are at around 115
Guest Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 I'm thinking Bank/Monument - you can get onto the Central line, and it should be easier for those coming from Darn Sarf. Either way, we have Wetherspoons vouchers.
Fosse Boy Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 Shame that Boris has said we can't have tinnies on the tube any more...
Daggers Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 Just near Liverpool St is The Old Bank, a superb building, and just down the road is one that is just a doorway in an alleyway that suddenly widens out and decends four floors...tres Harry Potter. I'll not be there, gay wedding y'see.

We'll miss you.
Daggers Posted 18 September 2008 Posted 18 September 2008 We'll miss the gay wedding but will be thinking of you while we are in Leyton. Nice. Cheers.

Either way, we have Wetherspoons vouchers. It's dead round there at the weekend. Aside from Brick Lane which I mentioned earlier there's loads of places around Liverpool Street. Spitalfields market is excellent for drinking and eating and is only 5 minutes from Liverpool Street station. If you want to keep on the Central Line but go further into town then there's obviously a lot of places near Tottenham Court Road. Or, if you want to go craaaaazy, you could check out Bethnal Green and Whitechapel for some old style East End pubs.
The People's Hero Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 Have you all come to a consensus? My brother and I will be travelling up from Maidstone. Rumour has it that Bellend Sebastien will be putting in a cameo too... So there's a good reason to get this all sorted.

James. Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 I've been told... Wetherspoons at Bank.Does this not suit? I won't be there as I'm not drinking tomorrow and I want to sit around at home in my boxer shorts until at least 1:30pm. I was just trying to give people a few interesting alternatives to bloody Wetherspoons. Nevermind!
Alexikokopops Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 Right then, I'm taking this by the scruff of the neck. Options are as follows: 1) Wetherspoons by Bank. Cheap, easy to find, but it's still a Wetherspoons (although I could have a platter for lunch again...) 2) Somewhere around Liverpool Street Station. Less then Wetherspoons but I have no idea of any good pubs around there (the Old Bank was mentioned...?) and no idea about FOOD 3) Go to Liverpool Street and walk towards Brick Lane. Curry, a variety of pubs, but also a ten minute walk from the tube station (which will put off the lazy people) 4) Spitalfields Market. Excellent for eating and drinking, five minutes from Liverpool Street. Again it's an unknown quantity. That is my (lame) attempt at taking things by the scruff of the neck. BAM! Someone else do something now. We're going to end up at Spoons aren't we?

Carl is pushing this option, as it does "proper" beer and "fizzy, gassy stuff". I personally have no preference. The only thing I am looking for is good company. I have heard that the area around Liverpool Lime St can be a bit problematic as it seems to be some gateway for football fans crossing London, but if anyone knows different, or if anyone can recommend a decent boozer, then let me know. If it don't do "proper" beer, Carl will just have to lump it. To be honest, I am a big fan of exploring and finding random pub, but can see the logistics around this option being far too complicated!

Liverpool Lime Street is a little far from the ground, what with being in the north west of England and all... You're all blatantly going to Wetherspoons!

To be fair we don't have Fez with us before the game. We can't be expected to organise stuff on our own. We seem to have managed to choose a pub. He can still be proud of us, right?

We tried! We're all for trying a different one! Unfortunately we don't have Mr London (you) or Mr Organise-Everything-For-Us-So-We-Don't-Have-To-Think-At-All (Fez)!

We're driving straight to East Landaaan I think so we'll probably find something around there.
Guest Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 Liverpool Lime Street is a little far from the ground, what with being in the north west of England and all... Oh bugger. This means I've booked the wrong train tickets for someone at work then. That'll teach me to multi-task.

The People's Hero Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 Oooops. Are we sticking with the Wetherspoons at Bank? Lisa, what time will you be arriving?
