syston_fox Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 yeah but it comes out of 1 pocket . Not yours though
Alexikokopops Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 Haha awful night! Shocking atmosphere, shocking football, pathetic stewards. It had it all, Im glad you remembered I went Its made the trip well worth it now. It seems not everyone's happy with my memory skillz though Exactly, my wee friend. We aren't that short and unnoticable, are we? Pipe down, everyone just assumes you're at all matches anyway! Exactly... and you've forgotten about me as well. I was sat with LD3 and JME (for his 10 min spell) just in front of you! I referenced you in my post but managed to miss you out of that list of people. I'm pretty special. Who else have I forgotten? Ha.
Corky Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 I'll have to remember to sit in silence and not breathe too loudly. Thanks in advance for the warning
syston_fox Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 I referenced you in my post but managed to miss you out of that list of people. I'm pretty special.Who else have I forgotten? Ha. I may never recover from this set back
Floating Fox Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 I loved Layer Road, it was a brilliant ground.I should be there on the 30th all being well, can't see much of a following from our lot though. How you lot getting there? I know it'll be a shit game, a shit day, but I fancy a mega treck in t'car.
SamL Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 £20 for my dad£(under 18 price) for me £20 for my brother over 18. Petrol about £20 burger there and drinks £10-£15 (as for 3) and 2 programmes (£6) some fish and chips on the way back (£10) Pretty simple really, don't spend as much on programmes, food and drink. If you took food/drink with you, you'd be able to afford to go to more games.
Alexikokopops Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 how do you all afford to go to all these away matches? I go to a good amount but for us were spending £100 every time we go! £100? Good god. How many off you go? £20 for my dad £(under 18 price) for me £20 for my brother over 18. Petrol about £20 burger there and drinks £10-£15 (as for 3) and 2 programmes (£6) some fish and chips on the way back (£10) I think the reason we can afford to go to so many away matches is because we're only paying for one of us instead of three Plus Lincolnshire is an impossible place to get out of.
lildave3 Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 How you lot getting there?I know it'll be a shit game, a shit day, but I fancy a mega treck in t'car. Tommy offered to drive us. Atmosphere convoy I say.
Joe. Posted 19 September 2008 Posted 19 September 2008 How you lot getting there?I know it'll be a shit game, a shit day, but I fancy a mega treck in t'car. Going with Tommeh as far as I know.
Teeno Posted 20 September 2008 Posted 20 September 2008 We had a mini bus go down to the game last year and ended up getting distracted and ended up in Southend for the night and missing the match. If I get some money through before the game I think I'm gonna try and get to it.
ColUInPeace Posted 24 September 2008 Author Posted 24 September 2008 Bit of an update. I have discussed some issues with the club and they have now relaxed the stewarding to an almost non-existant level, sacking their previous stewarding company Zephyr and now running on only club stewards. This lack of stewarding is very good meaning we can stand and do almost whatever we want however it also means hightened police presence: what they do is seek offenders of varying rules and then nick them after the game. This caused major trouble at our last home game, MK Dons, where there was a crush in the east stand as the police would not let anyone leave. They were hitting people with their batons and a bit of trouble erupted. I doubt this will happen again but just a warning: the matchday experience is a whole lot better than when i last posted, however. I have been asked a question regarding away fan friendly pubs so thought i may as well answer here as well if anyone's wondering. Due to the new ground we dont have many 'official' and designated pubs yet. I would avoid The Drury along Layer Road and the wig and pen. Other than that you have near enough full range. I would advise the Playhouse, Riley's and The Norfolk. Problem with Riley's, however, is that its mostly full of chavs who can't get served in pubs. Many steps have been made to make the Colchester United experience better and the club have been suprisingly responsive and positive. The Operations Manager has been in contact with myself, the media manager, other fans, the safety officer and the stewards to hopefully allow us to put on the displays we want. Enjoy the trip and the game.

ColUInPeace Posted 24 September 2008 Author Posted 24 September 2008 http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/67/...folk/Colchester Yep near North Station
Sods Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 The Norfolk's up near North station, right? Glad to hear the club are listening to their fans as well. That made me laugh.
lcfc_jme Posted 24 September 2008 Posted 24 September 2008 The Norfolk's up near North station, right? Glad to hear the club are listening to their fans as well. . Colchester have treated their fans quite disgracefully since relegation, really.
ColUInPeace Posted 25 September 2008 Author Posted 25 September 2008 They have indeed but they're beginning to get their act back. Sacked our manager after a 12 minute long chant of 'williams out' and also sacked Zephyr when we asked as well as changing the goal music.
norfolkfox222 Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Coming from Norfolk i only think its right that me and my mate will go to the Norfolk Pub! Could you let me know how far the new ground is from that pub cheers.

You will have to travel with home fans but if you get one of the first busses you will have very few people around you except possibly me!

Grand , think I'll work my way across town, start in the student's union, move on to The Playhouse, then The Norfolk, then to the game. Marvellous!
CatkinCUFC Posted 25 September 2008 Posted 25 September 2008 Go in the Norfolk lads, its the best pre match boozer now. Christ only knows where the best place to park for an evening kick off, as we havent had one with away fans yet! One option may be to park at colchester leisure centre/mcdonalds/megabowl (or whatever the franchise is now) and walk to the norfolk/bruff close from there. might be any idea to try and be reasonably low key (ie no leicester city flags left in the car!) but i have never had any problems with parking there and not using the facilities.
ColUInPeace Posted 30 September 2008 Author Posted 30 September 2008 Enjoy your trip and game, look out for E8, we're gonna be on fire!

We parked on the industrial estate. E900. No problems what-so-ever, although I did think I'd come back to fine a clamp on my car! I feel sorry for your fans. Horrid stadium, Stupid prices. Hope your club goes to hell and you can start again fresh. Saying that the fans to our right were pretty noisey.
