Acetripper Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Lovely to see you boys top of the League before we play you on Saturday. We done! I'm hoping it gives the Terriers an added incentive mind you. It seems an absolute age since we played you, was it mid 90's? Of course you're seen as 'big boys' in this chip'ole League but Forest and Leeds made the claim and it took some time for them to adjust. That said, it looks like you're doing well enough. One or two of your players sound familiar but who should we watch out for on Saturday? From our side - If we play like we did against Oldham last Saturday we stand every chance of beating you. However, we're still bedding-in 9 new players and it does take time. Lets hope for a good game either way! Regards AceT (HTFC)

Weren't Huddersfield predicted to be a top 6 side this year?
Harborough casual Posted 1 October 2008 Author Posted 1 October 2008 i think after last nights result we may reqire more tickets,1900 is not going to be enough,or am i wrong ?
Acetripper Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 It's truth we were expected to do better than we have but Stan Ternent and Ronnie Jepson have completely changed the playing personel and way we actually play. Last season we had eight young academy graduates in the team, which I believe was something of a record at our club. In the close season management brought nine new players in and in the first week of the season Stan declaired he'd 'rocked the boat a bit' at the club. None of us knew that he really meant until the last few weeks. Basically, he wants every midfielder and defender to be more or less interchangable. Which means he picks a team according to the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition we play. That factor alone has meant we've had a very dodgey start to the season. However, there were signs at Oldham Athletic that we'd started to 'gel' together as a team but there's along long way to go yet. Still, there are 38 matches to play and we can only improve! AceT
davieG Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 This is our team from the last two games: City: Martin, Gilbert, Tunchev, Hobbs, Powell, Adams, Oakley ©, King A, Dyer, Fryatt, Howard. Subs not used: Henderson, Wesolowski, Morrison, Gradel, Berner. All those in bold are new to us this season, A King is ex academy and only played 5 games last season, even Howard and Oakley only played 20 games for us before this season so our team is as new to each other as yours is. As for playing a different style this season we're Camembert to the last 4 seasons of used school chalk.
davieG Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Pearson also revealed the latest on absentees Paul Dickov and DJ Campbell ahead of Saturday's trip to 15th-placed Huddersfield Town. "Paul had a minor operation on his back yesterday and will be out for a few more weeks while we've just got to wait and see with DJ. From OS
Tilley Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Four wins, on the bounce, in the league? Not happening.
The Blur Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Might be attending, happen to be staying at my potential mum in law this weekend I'm treating this as a sign that the weekend I go to Huddersfield happen to be weekend Leicester also turned up to play there!
Harborough casual Posted 1 October 2008 Author Posted 1 October 2008 Leicester have been given an extra 800 tickets taking the total to 2604 for this week-ends game
Bert Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 You need to watch out for Akinibiyi coming off the bench.
The Blur Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Leicester have been given an extra 800 tickets taking the total to 2604 for this week-ends game Would that tickets to be taken away from Huddersfield's 2000 remaining tickets?
Acetripper Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 I'm really looking forward to this one! I'm meeting up with four Leicester fans and another mate who's a Celtic fan for a few 'brighters' before hand. The Celtic fans says he's only coming to watch me! Weird! As well as playing top of the league team I've a feeling we're on the up too so it should be interesting. It seems you like to play proper football which should suit us and that coupled with a big crowd by 3rd Division standards it all bodes well. I seem to remember in 1995/6 season I won £75 at the home game with Leicester by naming the first scorer and the final score which was 3-1 but I can't recall the scorer - Marcus Stewart maybe! May the best team take the points on Saturday! AceT
harpendenfox Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Huddersfield's another Club with a gobby chairman http://www.htafc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News...1408363,00.html Don't you love the ego of these fellas, like Ashley with Sports Direct, Simon Jordan with his phone company, who have the good fortune to do well in business then think they can transform the fortunes of a football club when they click their fingers. I guess at least this one can claim to be a lifelong supporter. Anyhow, lets hope we leave him fuming at the home crowd's cheek in booing off their favourites after a drubbing at the hands of the mighty Foxes Dean Hoyle is the founder and owner of Card Factory, a chain of greeting card and gift stores in Great Britain. Hoyle, from Wakefield, set up Card Factory in 1997. As of 2006, the company had 300 shops, employing over 5,000 people. Hoyle was born in 1967 and is married to Janet Hoyle.[1] Hoyle is a lifelong Huddersfield Town F.C. supporter. He joined the board of Huddersfield Town on 10 April 2008 and will take over as chairman, and majority shareholder, of the Club at the end of season 2008-09. The outgoing chairman, Ken Davy, retains a minority holding wikipedia
Acetripper Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Dean Hoyle formally takes over as Huddersfield Town Chairman at the end of this season. However he's already financially supporting the club with new players and their wages. He's a genuine Terriers fan of over 30 years and that actually counts for a lot after what we've had to endure over the years. We hit 'financial meltdown' in 2002 after milti-millionaire Barry Rubery (who was Leeds fan) pulled the plug on the money flow. He was worth a reported £350 million but got cold feet when our manager Steve Bruce wanted more money for new players. Rubery had already spent £10 Million. As a result and after two relegations and administration we were perilously close to liquidation. Now, Dean Hoyle might be gobby, I don't know, I've never met him but what I do know is he represents a potential change of fortunes for our club and I for one am pleased about that! AceT
Daggers Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 Don't you love the ego of these fellas Actually - I like the fact that he's slagging the stay-away fans and those who don't make any noise. A chairman who appreciates those who chant? Heavens to Betsy! Whatever next - clubs honouring their promise to give season ticket holders an exciting monthly benefit?
Guest Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 your the sort of KNOB that wont even go to the game, but give it the big one here,TWAT Totally unwarranted. <_<
chris164 Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 For your information, I am going to the game and I asked about the tickets as I might have to buy the home tickets from Huddersfield stadium and sit in the home end because I won't be in Leicester this weekend so I can't get any tickets from the stadium and if I ordered it online then it would be delivered to my home in Leicester which as mentioned I won't be thereGet your facts right before stirring up things KNOB Don't worry re. tickets as our away end hold 4,000. When you've sold the initial lot you'll either get the rest of 'em or they'll be available to pay in at the turnstyles. That's what we did with Forest anyway.
davieG Posted 1 October 2008 Posted 1 October 2008 OS Leicester City supporters travelling to the Galpharm Stadium for the League One clash against Huddersfield Town on Saturday will see their side wearing the new 2008-09 Black Away Kit for the first time. Over 2,000 fans have already snapped up their tickets for the game - which pitches the in-form Foxes against Stan Ternent's Terriers. And those supporters will get the first glimpse of the new kit in action - following its release during the summer. City have enjoyed a near perfect start to the season on their travels - dropping just two points from a possible 12 to date. And boss Nigel Pearson will now be hoping that the good run continues after watching his side battle out a 1-0 victory at Colchester on Tuesday evening.

AceT I'm having a quid on you lot to win 3-1. The last time we played there, we were unbeaten away in the league as well. (You were unbeaten at home too)

(You were unbeaten at home too) We had some smashing wins in that run as well- Sunderland, Derby, Norwich and West Brom spring to mind.
Acetripper Posted 2 October 2008 Posted 2 October 2008 When I come to think of it, it was 75-1 odds just for a 3-1 home win for the Terriers. First scorer didn't come in to it! In other words, you were expected to win and win well. A bit like this Saturday really! AceT
