Bert Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 When we first signed him, I was very sceptical about what he may bring to the team, we knew he was talented, but with his talent, apparently came an attitude problem. Anyway, 10 games in and I've yet to see any bad attitude from the man, and he always seems to apply himself in a very professional manner, and has been so far this season one of our most consistent performers. Very quick, with a great engine, solid in the tackle and supports the attack well. What are everyone else's views on him?
Tilley Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 The guy is phenomonal (ok, maybe a bit over the top) But, yeah I see your point Bert, everyone mentioned an attitude problem, but I haven't seen this. He looks proud to wear the shirt and puts in 110% all the time, bar Howard he was motm for us on Saturday imo. I think we have a fair chance of signing him too, hopefully.
JakeShingler Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 Yeh i think hes done really well coming up here and just fitting straight in i dont think hes a had one bad performance.
Webbo Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 I'd love it if we could sign him. Pearson's best signing imo.
Sods Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 My mate who is a sick Oxford fan, thinks he was our best defender. <_<
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 October 2008 Posted 20 October 2008 I agree fully. If there is one name that would be first on most people's team sheets it would be Gilbert. He's been so consistent since he's arrived, never being anything less than committed, athletic, and aware of the game. The quotes he comes out with and his general demeanour on the pitch tell me that he wants to play for us, he wants to give everything, and he hates losing games. I'd be ecstatic if we got him permanently.
SamL Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 I've been very impressed with him as well so I wouldn't complain if we signed him permanently. Personally, I think he's been one of Pearson's better signings.
Southern Fox Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 Decent player but does ball watch a bit Was at fault for not clearing ball properly on saturday and was also the defender that got beaten in the air for Huddersfield equaliser. A lot of strong attributes but a long way off a completely polished performer IMO
DB11 Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 What about this??? Just for the ones that said we've seen NO attitude problem as of yet.
Ric Flair Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 I rate the lad and I think he'll improve as he get's older and wiser. His only fault at the minute is he sometimes get's drawn out of position and Adams hasn't been helping him in that respect, where as Gradel for all his supposed weaknesses has bailed Gilbert out at times this season. Tranmere and against Huddersfield, Gilbert lost his man and they scored. But I am really pleased we have him and he's great going forward. I hope we can sign him permanently.
Fox You Forest Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 What about this??? Just for the ones that said we've seen NO attitude problem as of yet. I wouldn't say that has anything to do with an attitude problem, More a young lad having a good time and getting a bit carried way. I think he's an excellent player, He should be top target in the summer should we get promoted.
Head Honcho Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 What about this??? Just for the ones that said we've seen NO attitude problem as of yet. Didn't realise he'd been found guilty Coming from personal experience drunk and disorderly is such a lazy way for the police to arrest someone. A good brief and Gilbert will get off this charge no problem.
Tilley Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 Hope his injury isn't too serious. Was pretty awful before he went off.
Joe. Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 Hope his injury isn't too serious. Was pretty awful before he went off. Really? I thought he was our best player to be honest.
Tilley Posted 21 October 2008 Posted 21 October 2008 Really? I thought he was our best player to be honest. Yeah. He gave it away, alot. Him & Gradel looked allergic to each other, he left the back post wide open for their first, & allowed the cross for their second.
