Steven Posted 14 April 2005 Posted 14 April 2005 Injury Boost For LeveinCraig Levein has revealed a near clean bill of health ahead of Saturday's Championship clash against promotion chasing Wigan Athletic at the Walkers Stadium. The Foxes boss was without Darren Kenton (mumps), Keith Gillespie (ankle), Richard Stearman (ankle) and Jordan Stewart (shoulder) for last weekend's 1-1 draw with Brighton at the Withdean. But Levein confirmed in his pre-match press conference that those players were now fit and he had no fresh worries ahead of the Wigan game. He said: "Darren Kenton and Jordan Stewart both came through Tuesday night's reserve game without any problems so they will both be available for selection, as will Keith Gillespie. "Richard Stearman is back in training which is god news for us. He can obviously be added to the squad fairly soon. "Other then Lee Morris I think everyone is fit at the moment. We have got a lot of games coming up so that is a good position for me to be in at this stage of the season." The only downside for Levein is that he will be without Stephen Hughes, who is suspended for the game after being send off in the Brighton draw.
emmalcfc Posted 14 April 2005 Posted 14 April 2005 It did say in the Harborough Mail, that the swelling on his ankle had come down a lot by the Monday after the Millwall match, and that he was expected to be out for 2 weeks. Great news that he is back in training earlier than that.
MON Posted 14 April 2005 Posted 14 April 2005 I'm surprised Blake hasn't been given a chance if he is fit. Blake and Moore up front, Connoly just behind, being the link man. With Joey, Williams and hughes in midfield.
davieG Posted 14 April 2005 Posted 14 April 2005 Thats what we like to hear 92790[/snapback] So does CL Leicester manager Craig Levein has been hailing the development of teenage starlet Richard Stearman.Stearman, 17, who can play at right-back or centre-half, hit the headlines when he scored on his fifth senior appearance for the Foxes as Millwall were beaten 3-1 earlier this month. But Stearman's delight turned to distress later in the afternoon as he sustained an ankle and cheekbone injury in the same game. The knocks have kept him sidelined for a fortnight. But Stearman, who had been expected to miss the remainder of the season, has now been passed fit to play against Wigan at the weekend. Levein said: "Richard has been a real plus point for us and it's just unfortunate he had to go off against Millwall. "He's got good pace, gets up and down, he's eager to learn and is decent on the ball."

Moore doesn't need a chance from what i saw at the Reserve game, a bit of effort would be nice to see.
Scow Posted 14 April 2005 Posted 14 April 2005 Excellent news. Hopefully he'll get a few more appearances before the end of the season. I have a feeling Levein will utilise him at right back next season - It may take some time for Stearman to bulk up in order to play in the centre of defence.
Ric Flair Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 Stearman is the only good thing that's come out of this season. Obviously Levein and his new signigns have improved us but as far as i'm concerned this season has been a shocker. Stearman on the other hand has been a revelation everytime he's played. 3 starts and 3 man of the matches in my opinion, quality. I think his game against Millwall has finally convinced Levein that he's definately ready for first team football and there's no doubt we'll see alot more of him this season and next season. The problem we do have is we already have quite a few right back's, but it's essential Stearman plays in my opinion. He puts all the senior pro's to shame half the time, I remember him bailing Dublin out of the shit against Reading twice. Thankgod for Stearman that's all I can say. Let's hope he's in the epicentre of our team for years to come. I have no doubt in my mind he'll be good enough for England one day within the near future. Super, Super Rich, Super, Super Rich, Super, Super Rich, Super Richard Stearman.
dynamite foxes Posted 15 April 2005 Posted 15 April 2005 cheers Wednesday, he is so shit that he was on stanby for the under 21s despite making 2 starts, but no of course Wednesday have got some good up and coming players.
