JoeyB Posted 25 October 2008 Posted 25 October 2008 1) JPT and Carling cup your adding, thats pathetic. We're in league 1 and we can't win home games and that means we won't go up.2) I said it last season that we would go down, you all laughed. 3) I said Harry Worley was a bad signing and we were building for league 1 and you all laughed. Seems to be a patten here. 4) NP got a month to save his job, now with Dowie out of work. 1) would you rather we won and drew games or lost and drew? 2) we only laughed at you because your a twat! 3) He hasn;t played so can't be a league 1 signing! 4) He wont, just because we have drawn 3 games in a row its bad! Dont forget we haven;t lost in 8!

Take out the JPT and Carling cup and home form is still better this season. What is your obsession with Iain Dowie? Every time he's out of work you come on here going on and on and on and on about him and how he's the best thing around. And the only pattern emerging here is that we all laugh at you.... but you knew that already!
Narborough Bod Posted 25 October 2008 Posted 25 October 2008 Pearson made one verey very good decision today, bringing Mattock off about 1 tackle before he'd have been sent off. Had Mattock stayed on, their winger was going to get at him for the rest of the match and it was looking pretty certain that another booking was coming his way - great decision by the boss!!

xxinxsxx Posted 26 October 2008 Posted 26 October 2008 Seven games unbeaten, third place in the league with a game in hand on the top two. What's not to like?Well, actually quite a bit. Tuesday night's fortunate draw against a mediocre Walsall team suggests that the wheels on the Pearson bandwagon are beginning to loosen. If the performance had been a rare lapse, then perhaps we could have shrugged it off. But it wasn't, and we can't. Our excellent away form has led many on here to overlook the dire displays in the last FOUR home games, which have been as dull as anything endured during the horrors of Holloway, Megson, Kelly and Levein. The central problem that has bedevilled the side in the last four miserable years - a complete lack of creativity in central midfield - remains as intractable as ever. Neither Matt Oakley nor Andy King merit their current "chosen men" status any more than Stephen Hughes or Andy Johnson did under previous regimes. Tackling, forward passing, and dribbling past opponents are all alien concepts to this less-than-dynamic duo - which make them easy prey for the hoofers and hackers who dominate midfields in this league. This weakness is starting to affect other areas of the team. Even Tunchev, the one player of genuine quality in the current side, is starting to suffer from lapses in concentration which cost us goals. The sooner Pearson decides on a first-choice back four, and sticks to it, the better. Rotating the defence only brings instability, both individual and collective. On the wings, while Gradel and Dyer have shown glimpses of real quality in the opening weeks of the season, neither of them inspire confidence in their ability to maintain consistency over a 46-game campaign. They may flatter to deceive in warm conditions, but when the long midwinter trips to Carlisle, Hartlepool and Yeovil loom, will they be able to pass those tests? The jury is still very much out on this question In these circumstances, it would not be a complete surprise if the attack, which has been surpringly potent to date, suffers the type of drought which dragged us down to these depths in the first place. Both Howard and Fryatt have proved with previous clubs that they can be prolific in this division. Yet their technical limitations and lack of mobility mean that well-drilled defences can often contain them with ease, as we have witnessed again too often in recent weeks. Fortunately there are plenty of other options available in attack, which Pearson may need to explore before too long. For all kinds of reasons, we need this manager to be successful. But the consistent failings that his side continue to display so often at the Stadium of Junk indicate that it is far from guaranteed that this will happen. SPOT ON .(Please write it in a letter to Nigal)

Having been to most games home and away this season its completely obvious to me whats going wrong - quite simply a case of too many missed chances. The defence are solid and we wont concede too many this season The midfield, though room for improvement, are supplying the forwards with chances The strikers are not taking any where near enough of their chances - Howard was woeful on Tuesday, missing a couple, and Fryatt seems again to be playing with little confidence THIS SITUATION MUST BE ADDRESSED IN THE TRANSFER WINDOW, or we aint going up automatically We must bring-in an on-from striker, preferably from League one for a couple of million if needs be, because the Howard/Fryatt partnership is dissolving fast

Thracian Posted 26 October 2008 Posted 26 October 2008 ultra's post is starting to look ominously correct . http://www.foxestalk.co.uk/forums/index.ph...=54402&st=0 Ultra knows his football and his comments have been food for thought but I don't think it really stands up. At least not convincingly. Had we won 3-0 yesterday would anyone be seriously disgruntled? Yet that is what could have happened despite our "lack of creativity". King got the ball in the net (disallowed), Fryatt and Dyer missed one-on-one's, we had a fair tally of shots and there ere moments when Fryatt might have won a penalty and Gradel might have scored from his favourite position had he not been cynically tripped. There were stacks of crosses into the box, good and bad, but despite all those factors we didn't score. And there were easy chances the previous game too, not least a couple that fell to Howard so how anyone can argue that we're not making chances or getting the ball to our sometimes flying wingers I don't know. I'd agree with Ultra that our two wingers won't have 46 consistent games. Which wingers will? But would anyone swop our two wingers for anyone else's in Division One cos I wouldn't. And that could include Adams and Porter as back-ups. Had he asked if there was more we could get out of those wingers then, yes, he'd have a point. And I'd say that was down to supporting runs from people like full-backs or one of our strikers and these are just not happening at the moment while they were happening at the start of the season when everyone was competing for their places. It certainly has nothing to do with the wingers not being likely to play well in winter. Ultra mentions Pearson picking a settled back-four. But that's theoretical wishful thinking. Pearson should have quality alternatives for every position and no problem at all using anyone he chooses. But the idea of having a fixed back line is nonsense. KIsnorbo and Mattock have been injured, Gilbert is injured, Hobbs has been moved, Morrison has been sidelined and these are all part and parcel of a manager's lot. If our success or failure is goint to depend on a settled team then we might as well give up now because that just doesn't happen in modern football and certainly when you are playing three times in eight day then having a two week break. Injuries and tiredness problems are inevitable. Ultra offers a lot of concerns but no solutions and to my mind solutions are unlikely at least until the January transfer window because I've never been one who sees loanees as the answer and nothing that has happened this season has changed my views on that. We have a squad of players and it is time we used them to our best advantage. Most seem to agree that is not the case right now but disagree as to the reasons. It is the manager's job to find out which answers are best but I don't think he'll help himself by doing nothing.

It is the manager's job to find out which answers are best but I don't think he'll help himself by doing nothing. A 3-0 win yesterday would indeed have gone a long way towards dispelling concerns held by me and many others. The fact is, though, we didn't get it. Before they tired in the final half-hour, the visitors more than held their own and had a fair few chances to take the lead themselves. Their passing and movement often put ours to shame. Other teams, even in this league, will be more ruthless with their end product than the cobblers were yesterday. My plea for a settled defence can hardly be described as "wishful thinking" when Pearson has shown in other areas of the team (goalkeeper, central midfield and up front) that his chosen men will keep their positions come what may (a tactic which was virulently and rightly condemned when practised by previous managers). Bringing back both Kisnorbo and Mattock yesterday was an error which Northampton could easily have punished. Many successful teams practise squad rotation on a regular basis, with the exception of the defence unless forced by injuries and/or suspension. A settled defence provides the rock on which all such teams depend. As a reasonably successful defender himself, it's a little surprising that Pearson doesn't seem to grasp that. Despite our current crop of injuries and loanees, we still have one of the biggest squads in the division. And that strength in depth should be tested sooner rather than later. With games coming thick and fast over the next few weeks, can the manager afford to do anything else?

Agree with that, on the whole I thought they were the far better side. The performance for me was far more concerning than the result. I can handle 0-0's from time to time if there are positives to take, but there were none evident yesterday.

It is the manager's job to find out which answers are best but I don't think he'll help himself by doing nothing. I Agreed up until then. Why do we need transfers to fix problems? have people forgotten about COACHING a team? This sqaud is young and therefore has lots to learn, However because they are young they can be taught. It bugs me when people say oh our strikers are rubbish we need new ones in january, or oh we need new midfielders because ours arent doing the job. Why do you need new players? We need to encourage KING who is more then capable, to become a more attacking CM with a more free role. i.e a type of role that has been given to players such as Izzet in the past. The strikers need to be taught/told to make runs across the defense rather then straight through. They also need to cross over with the wingers on occasion to fool the defence. Fryatt is still young and has the potential to be taught, Howard should know better but he is a lazy striker anyway (always has been, its part of his game). From what i have heard we created chances yesterday and were unlucky not to get all three points. I think the Pearson interview was rather harsh but hey. I think Shooting and finishing will be on the cards in training this week, and if nothing improves next game. I can see Pearson losing patiance with Howard imparticular who missed a hat full again i hear. I can see a few changes in coming weeks if things dont change. TRAINING is what is required. Not new players. I garuntee improvement from this side before january. I also see very few players if any players coming in january. Foxhateram
Floating Fox Posted 26 October 2008 Posted 26 October 2008 Oh, so it's my fault we've been so crap for the last FIVE home matches is it? YES. You are a moron, our club would be far better off if you stopped supporting us.
Ultra Posted 28 October 2008 Author Posted 28 October 2008 What a hypocrite. You clearly don't have a clue about what being an ultra is really about.
