Dr The Singh Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Whenever I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself, I just look at something Ultra's posted and think.. hey, it could be a LOT worse. I've just read it and it sort of makes the credit crunch, world poverty, acts of genecide, my deficiencies seem quite meaningless!!!
Thracian Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 That central midfield pairing has scored 4 goals this season so far, and I'm sure there's a couple of assists thrown in too.Who would you like to see in there at present? For one reason or another there's not a lot of options. Plus, for a team with a midfield that's dominated so easily, we are in a mighty lofty position. Why? It's not like these players are new to these positions. I'm fairly sure they're all familiar with the responsibility to pick up their man - the mistake for both goals on Tuesday. I don't see how the make-up of the defence affects their positional sense. A centre-back should be picking up a striker, it's hardly rocket science. It's just silly mistakes, stop trying to create problems that aren't there. The changes to the line-up, in my opinion, haven't caused these mistakes to happen. So Gradel's assists and Lloyd's goals & assists don't count cos it's not winter? I'm fairly sure Gradel played a full season - Autumn, Winter and Spring - with Bournemouth last year and by all accounts was superb throughout. More moaning for something to do methinks. Will these be the same well-drilled defences we've played so far this season in the league who have, on average, conceeded a goal every game to these two? I'll be more than happy if that continues. To add just a little more strength to your points, Gradel actually missed a good chunk of the autumn part of last season because of his family tragedy. Which suggests he's even more potent in the winter!
lcfc81 Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 I am on the give Pearson a full year before we assess his merits bus. Although I am disappointed by a few things (like why we use Bruno Berner as a winger when we're tryin to win games!) I remember how bad it was and how bad it could be now. I think he has done a good job so far and his only problem is he has raised expectations so high. As people are saying we were always going to hit a sticky patch. It is our job as fans to get the atmosphere going, because everytime the lcfc fans go nuts the away players sh*t themselves. As for the booing ffs Take the frustration out on their players!! Role on Saturday. 'Small town in Kettering!'
lavrentis Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 I love Pearsons sarcastic approach in his interviews.
Corky Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Yes, it was the fourth straight below-par performance, yet in those matches we've collected seven points. Not too bad a return.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 However the lad does have a fair point. There is lots to improve on, and yes im sure the coaching staff at the walkers know that perfectly well. Of course there is. We're a 1st (3rd and lets not forget that) division team playing 1st division football with 1st division players. Yes, we have the resources to edge ahead of the opposition, but not much. The idea of 1st division football doesn't appeal to Premiership and Championship player for some reason. The mark of a good team is to play crap and still get a result. Okay, a draw against Walsall wasn't the BEST result, but it was a result we would never have got in the last two or three seasons playing that badly, whoever the opposition. Leeds have lost to Peterborough and ust scraped past Hereford already and they are arguably a bigger team than us. We will not win every game, not even all the "easy" ones. Such is football. The sooner people wise up to this, the better!

I also know this league isnt going to be easy. my post was about teams putting 11 men behind the ball and how we should counter such activities. The fact that teams have identified that they can nuetralise our biggest threats using tactics shows that this league is alot more technically minded then some may think. I am happy with draws aslong as we are picking up points and sticking near the top im happy. i was just pointing out that to win games we need to try other tactics then the one's we are currently using. Cheers Foxhateram

I did consider pointing out that I wasn't nit-picking you, but thought that this would be understood anyway.
LCFC_RIGGALL Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 I agree our midfeilders and strikers, when we are going forward none of them have the confidence to take a player on.Max gradel...First game vs MK ... was amazing...now he doesnt take players on anymore.

He took about three out of the game at once with that clever nutmeg pass early in the first half against Walsall and despite failing a few times, still beat his man more times than Sylla, Low, Newton and Laczko managed between them in their entire career here.
JoeyB Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Ultra get a life mate. We are unbeaten in 7, 3rd in the league with a game in hand, and still have over 30 games to play! so lets wait till 25 games/ January before we start making shit threads. Thracian face it. PORTER IS NOT GOING TO GET IN THE FIRST 11 ANYTIME SOON! He is not good enough! Dont you think if he was that good Dyer would be out of the squad or Levi would be in Midfield! HE would, but he's not so back off the kid you hype them up loads at times

HE would, but he's not so back off the kid you hype them up loads at times Dyer's not a weak link. Why would anyone change Dyer? But we do need more creativity in central midfield and seeing that King seems to have been lumbered with the holding role that means either Oakley's got to suddenly become creative or we need a change. And hype has nothing to do with it. If we had other attacking central midfield options I may well be mentioning them but we don't. I don't understand why we don't - unless no-one fancy competing for a place with the skipper - but it certainly isn't my fault.
potter3 Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 A slight over-reaction to this thread going on here. i can see ultra's point of pointing out what needs to be improved. I dont agree with the way he has done it, as his point was put over in such a negative way that it seems insultive to the team. However the lad does have a fair point. There is lots to improve on, and yes im sure the coaching staff at the walkers know that perfectly well. Ultra is worried about our lack of creativity against a 11 men behind the ball, but to be quite honest even the best teams struggle to score VS this policy. Millwall were the first to play this against us. They played a very very negative game throughout and defended for their lives, only to hit us near the end when our team had impatiantly rushed up field in an attempt to score, only to be hit on the counter attack. No they didn't, they were physical but they didn't put 11 men behind the ball, they were the best opponents I've seen this season (other than Fulham, obviously), and they scored in the 20th minute too, not near the end
Salieri Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Ultra is on a wind-up, surely. I thought exactly the same thing when i saw the topic title! But reading the subsequent posts it seems that this guy has a bit of a reputation as a, how can i put it politely, miserable ****
Ash Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Im upbeat about the season, We have the potential to go top soon! Alryt we aint playing the best at the minute, but we cant expect to play good everygame! We have a good squad which means over the season we can put out a strong team most weeks! EVERYONE STAY UPBEAT AND KEEP BACKING THE TEAM AND NIGEL!!! E I E I E I O!
Lovejoy Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Pearson out! What exactly do people expect? No team wins every game, and all teams have bad runs (2 draws ffs, is it even that bad).
Russell352 Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 .... Imagine if he was a Spurs fan. Pearson Out!
shen Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Gotta be a wind up post??? SURELY!!!?? Either all of his posts are wind-ups or he's just a miserable git..
CKB Posted 23 October 2008 Posted 23 October 2008 Either all of his posts are wind-ups or he's just a miserable git.. Oooooo which one do we go for??
