Samilktray Posted 6 November 2008 Posted 6 November 2008 Staying up for this 1, poor decision. Get at him Roy.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 November 2008 Posted 6 November 2008 Can't wait for this, and the Haymaker the week after. Why anyone would want Calzaghe to lose is beyond me, though.

Samilktray Posted 6 November 2008 Author Posted 6 November 2008 How can you not respect Calzaghe!? Didnt say I didnt respect him? Just that I dont give a fook about him.
Durnerz Posted 6 November 2008 Posted 6 November 2008 How can you not respect Calzaghe!? Because hes stayed in the same division all his career relatively unchallenged and now is fighting 'big names' at the end of their careers? I respect fighters like Hatton more for venturing into different divisions and fighting the form guys in their prime, not like Calzaghe, very overrated fighter.

Difference of opinion on this one I think.
Durnerz Posted 6 November 2008 Posted 6 November 2008 Difference of opinion on this one I think. Makes the discussion interesting. I do hope he wins as a brit but i'm not as excited as I was for the Hatton vs Mayweather fight.

Daz.I Posted 6 November 2008 Posted 6 November 2008 Can't wait for this, and the Haymaker the week after. Why anyone would want Calzaghe to lose is beyond me, though. I have a lot of respect for calzaghe as he is a athlete and a very good one to be 45-0 but to be fair his divsion wasn't the greatest in the world though he did sweep up in his respected division where it lacked class in my opinion. and I'm sorry boxing is different to football you don't just follow your country it's about the individual in boxing and what you look for in a boxer As for roy jones apart from him being my greatest Boxer of all time you can't help but love his speed power and showmanship as a boxer, after being a 4 weight world champion creting to great albums and this comes from somebody who doesn't like hip-hop music as a whole. as for the fight I think it potentially could be fight of the year as calzaghe will want to go out with a bang and jones wants to prove to the world he's got what it takes to be the best and dethrone the dragon, calzaghe posses great levels of fitness and as we know throws a mega amount of punches a round but has not always proven the most exciting fighter in the world.. agreed ? as for jones coming off the back of a comfortable win against tito having outboxed him and showing us the whole roy still has a lot to prove as he lost 3 out of his last 6 showing signs of age-ing both fighters have a lot at stake but for jones I think he is in a win win situation if he loses he will still be a great, if he wins it will just add to his greatness having had such an illustrious career. Calzaghe I believe needs to win this to be re-known as a great within the sport. calzaghe needs to show he can box well out of wales to as I felt the judges at the hopkins fight were far to kind on him as I had hopkins up a round or two but everyone to their own. holding no illusions I am a massive roy jones fan and have the upmost respect for joe as a boxer but I can honestly see rjj defying the rule book and coming back with a win. I just feel he brings to much to the table for joe as he's never been in with anyone as fast or powerful but Im sure whatever the outcome it will be a brilliant fight!.. Y'ALL MUST'VE FORGOT!!!!
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 6 November 2008 Posted 6 November 2008 I hope RJ beats Calzaghe the way he's daady shouldve!!!! Roy Jones is simply one of the greatest boxers of all time his record is second to none.Calzaghe has spent his career happy to knock a few european journey men instead of getting off his backside looking for a challenge! He barely beat veteran legend Bernard hopkins and claimed to be a "legend killer" no chance Joe your not in their league!
Samilktray Posted 6 November 2008 Author Posted 6 November 2008 SAYYYYYYYYYY WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!? AINT NO STOPPIN ME!

Calzaghe in my opinion deserves far more credit than he actually gets , he can only beat what is put in front of him and to be 45-0 is a remarkable acheviement . In terms of fighting the big names at the latter end of their careers maybe be right to a degree but Bernard Hopkins proved a couple of weeks ago that he is still a superb fighter and Joe got the victory in that despite how close it was. Calzaghe on points for me Mucho respecto Calzaghe
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 6 November 2008 Posted 6 November 2008 I'm sorry boxing is different to football you don't just follow your country it's about the individual in boxing and what you look for in a boxer Did I say I was supporting Calzaghe because of his nationality? Don't think I did. Just wondering why some don't think he's a superb athlete and an inspiration to young boxers getting into the sport, be they British or otherwise.
