S****horpe pre-match apprehension & excitement

From OS

Leicester City assistant manager Craig Shakespeare says Alex Tunchev should be available for selection when the Foxes take on top-of-the-table S****horpe United at Glanford Park on Saturday (3pm).

The Foxes defender was part of the Bulgaria side that went down 6-1 to Serbia in an international friendly on Wednesday evening.

Tunchev played the opening 45 minutes of the contest, and fellow assistant manager Steve Walsh was there to monitor his performance.

And Shakespeare confirmed that the player would now train with the first team squad on Friday morning before the team make the trip to North Lincolnshire.

He said: "Alex is set to travel back over here this afternoon (Thursday), so he should be back in training on Friday morning.

"We monitored the game in Serbia and he came through it without any problems."

Meanwhile, Shakespeare confirmed that manager Nigel Pearson was yet to decide who would replace Steve Howard, who misses the game through suspension, in attack.

He added: "We have got a few options that we are looking at. Both DJ (Campbell) and Paul (Dickov) came through 45 minutes for the reserves on Tuesday - which was good news."

Shakespeare spent a season at S****horpe during his playing career - so is well placed to run the rule over Saturday's opponents.

"They are a very well run club," he added. "Nigel (Adkins) was the physio during my time there, and I will be certainly shaking his hand after what is hopefully a decent game.

"A lot of people discarded S****horpe at the start of the season - but make no bones about it - they are up at the top of the table on merit.

"Both teams go into the game wanting to win it. It certainly makes for a great contest."

City have just 100 tickets remaining on general sale from their initial allocation of 2,000.

Supporters are advised to contact the ticket office for further details.

Blimey, Tunchev will be thankful of some light relief against Scunny forwards after that battering.

Must admit I'm feeling the "pre-match" excitement as well. Just about to leave for the Grimbsy/Bournemouth game and then onto sunny Scunny in the morning.

Would love to see us really go at them.

Weather watch: pack your winter warmers chaps as it looks like snow is on the way.

Up for this, I had very little confidence at the beginning of the week.

I now think we'll knick it, bounce back from the disappointment of Swindon & send a message to the rest of the division.

Scunny manager Nigel Adkins was on the local news this morning asking for their fans to turn out and be noisy. He said that he'd watched Leicester at Swindon and our fans were very vocal. Having sold our allocation of tickets, he said that we were bound to make a lot of noise and they didn't want to be outdone.

I'm looking forward to this one, should be a good match and hopefully a decent atmosphere.

A win would be excellent.

Nice to know Pearson is very decisive in his decision on who to partner Fryatt. Perhaps if he made the odd substitute before 89 minutes then he'd have a better idea.

The snow is now forecast in Scunny for Sunday, so there's no need to be bringing a spare orange ball. But I'd still pack yuor winter warmers because it's down to be absolutely freezing, maximum temp around 4 degress and that's at 12 noon, so it might even drop below freezing. You have been warned.

I think the game is either going to be an absolute belter or an absolute shocker. With the teams being 1st and 2nd, it should be the first, but as a pessimist, I truly believe it'll be the latter one.

A bore 1-1 draw.

If the snow comes and the authorities don't decide it's not safe for grown men to be out in it, I can well imagine a game with goals.

Pearson has the opportunity to field his quickest attacking team to date and if we do pass and move quickly and we do score some goals I cannot imagine us being daft enough to think the job done 10 minutes from time.

With that weather forecast I definitely go 4-5-1 with two tricky wingers.

And I'd definitely have Porter on the bench as a central midfield option.

I just saw a report on 'Look North,' the local TV news programme for this area. The manager of S****horpe says they are really up for it, and looking to expand their lead at the top! He also reckons that their supporters will out sing us easily! As they will have a full house of over 7,000 (wow, they are really going for it aren't they, haha)! So come on, let's raise the roof for City tomorrow.

I look forward to seeing the match report on Monday's programme too, should be a laugh, when we win!

Good sign that, shows they are feeling the pressure.

Come on city!!

Get your claws in!!

I'm looking forward to Fryatt being partnered with someone else up front, i've wanted that to be tried all season, no offence to Howard as he has being playing well but i think the team as whole will get the ball forward quicker and play more creative football if Howard isn't up front and we will get through oppositions defences easier. Only thing i worry about is set pieces, as Howard defends the oppositions corners, free kicks etc really well, i've noticed he wins most of the headers when defending, so he may actually be missed in that aspect more than what people realise, but coming forward i think we will look a more positive, pacey team without Howard

I was supposed to be at a conference tommorow but it got cancelled at about half four, i rang the ticket office just to see if there was any left af twenty to five (long shot) but suprisingly there were 22 left so im well chuffed to be going :D

I think a comfortable 3-0 win, with all of us being shocked at the fact they are top having just pissed all over them!

Fryatt 37'

Oakley 58'

Campbell 88'

No apprehension on my part. Ignore where S****horpe are in the table and what they've done to get there, they're a third division club like all the rest - including us - and we should be able to despatch them by a couple of goals. A Fryatt double and no slip ups this time :fc:
