Wooop! Wooop! Top of the league & everything is wonderful

I believe that Leicester will get Automatic promotion, probably be the champions of this mickey mouse league and rightly so as they have by far and away the best players and squad.

The talent that Leicester has in comparison with the "bigger" teams in this division, the Oldham's, Posh, Leeds and Millwall's is by far heftier in Leicester's favour. We are the only club to effect League 1 scheduling with International call ups, not 1 call up but 3. We are the only League 1 side to have spent £1 Million on a player this season.

Every game the opposition have set up the same way at Filbert Way. 4 - 5 - 1. What has Nigel Pearson done in response to this kept playing a 4 - 4 - 2. It seems to be universally agreed that against the better sides in this league that when the opposition swamp the midfield Leicester have been lacking with just King & Oakley in the centre of midfield. The only attacking options are usually kept under wraps by IMO the best defender outside of the Premiership in Tunchev, who consistently provides assurance & stability at the heart of defence. I believe Pearson's stance on the 4 - 4 - 2 is so stubborn that he will not change even with the massive advantages a 3 - 5 - 2 would bring.

When the oposition set up with 1 up front the full backs have very little to do. Edworthy & Powell are not likely to bomb forward for 90 minutes at their age, and Mattock hardly looks bothered with his January move coming up. Hobbs, Morrison & Tunchev should never play at Full back to cover for injuries anymore.

When will a change of formation to 3 - 5 - 2 be made for the good of the side? We could play Gradel & Dyer on either flank, have Oakley & Berner mopping up & King in the hole behind Howard & Fryatt or Dickov. Howard would get more crosses in and at an angle where he could head towards goal rather than just laying off all the time.

On Tuesday night we maintained our first place, but we hardly looked like a team full of confidence and at the top of the league did we? I thought we were very poor. Poor application, and a lack of desire. The players seem to trot around as if they are some gods of the Coca Cola League 1 scene. Crewe's only threat was gifted a goal after Crewe put LCFC under some mild pressure.

I think we need to take control of games in a better fashion, and create more chances by supplying the forwards from the wings & from King with the service they can actually work from, unlike on Tuesday when Crewe put 10 men on their 18 yard box and asked us to break them down. IMO Dario had done his homework and nearly nicked a point with a side who after 10 points adrift of safety after 18 games, and they looked like it too, which is very worrying, seeing as we struggled to beat them.

Please change the way we set up and be a bit more attacking Nigel, the players are resting on their laurels, they should realise that they are first not because they are playing well but the standard of the opposition is truly awful.

Do something before I lose all faith in you Nigel

Top of the League and with Pearson being an ex-centre-back who's signed three centre-backs, albeit one on loan...I don't see any way he'll abandon four at the back.

It would just leave him far too open to criticism the first time it went wrong.

Hell some of our fans would still like a killer midfield player as additional insurance and a team of brickies from Wickes on the bench.

Imagine us going into unrestrained attack mode with 3-5-2. Some of the fans just couldn't cope. They'd be sitting there with balaclavas over their eyes when the opposition won possession. :D

i'm not getting at all excited until April earliest. We make hard work of jjust about every game so i'm certainly not getting too optimistic about prootion yet, although with the players we have it should happen.

Forgive me my moment of pedanticness/pedance but Wickes are a DIY retailer and as such do not supply brickies.

Quite restrained of you not to point out he's talking complete horseshit though.

I thought he should have asked what the hell Thrac was banging on about.

Just remind me which player actually cost us 1 Million pounds this season because i though Tunchev was our most expensive buy at 800k or am i missing someone?

I think he actually meant Tunchev. I also thought he cost 800k, but I guess Kilworth just rounded it up to the nearest thousand. :)

Fair enough! Rounding up 200k a bit though!

That was quite sensible for the man who claims that S****horpe vs Oldham is a local derby.

I wouldnt abandon 4-4-2 , if teams want to come here and play 4-5-1 then the most simple answer rather than fooking about with systems is for the full backs to push on and offer overlaps and inside passes , Gilbert and Mattock are capeable enough for that , that still leaves us with 1 centre half picking up the forward and 1 centre half spare .

I presume you missed the advert where they built a wall to defend a free-kick...

lol Oh dear Hully - I think you just got burned :D

Not wishing to be pedantic but I think you'll find that Wickes provide the bricks and not the tradesmen. Pretty much what I said earlier.

You did say that Hullfox.

Thrac, that humble pie should be nice and warm now :P

I agree that with a 4 - 4 -2 that is the advantage, but what do we do when our fullbacks are 36 & 38? Mattock did not look that interested on Tuesday & Gilbert is injured soon to be on community service or worse

Oh & apologies I thought Tunchy was £1mil! £800k fookin bargain get in

I'm not getting carried away with our team. Although we are top there is a lot of room for improvement. I don't know what financial predicament our club is in but I do think we need to strengthen for the long term.

I can forsee a mass amount of changes in not only this window but also in the summer. This is a vital time for the future of our club.

A lot of faith has been put into NP, he hasn't let us down so far. But as i'm sure you only know too well a spell of 6 or 7 games and the fickle fans start chanting his name to be out; this period will show just how tough and capable our squad is. We've had that spell of 4 games without winning (I think it was) and NP managed to deal with the pressure then, good to see him saying there is room for improvement rather then saying, "we are a great club going to be back," type comment to the media.

I don't mean to sound negative. I'm enjoying our ride in the league so far (well don't enjoy this league, but we are top I suppose)!!

Hi, by the way ;)
