Jimmy Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 I wondered the same. BBC might not let him though. didn't he used to take part in the Le Mans series when he went away?
lildave3 Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Go on Lewis! Although i'm an idiot, i've just looked at ITV's listings for this afternoon, wondering where the hell qualifying is. I'm still doing it and we're god knows how many races into the season
Asha Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Hope Felipe's ok. Massive blow that, can't see Raikkonen doing any better than 8th in Q3.
dandannieldanok Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Freakish accident, especially given it's close proximity to the Surtees tragedy.
Asha Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Freakish accident, especially given it's close proximity to the Surtees tragedy. Yeah was thinking that too. Lucky he seemed at least semi-conscious enough to try and slow the car down. I doubt he'll be racing tomorrow.
Asha Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 From the BBC 1424: Such is his desperation to find out who's on pole, Alonso even goes up to former McLaren rival Lewis Hamilton to ask what his time was. We're still waiting for any confirmation of the final placings. Bernie Ecclestone is chatting amiably to the drivers. "Do they have the times somewhere?" asks a bemused Sebastian Vettel. Bernie shrugs his shoulders. This is chaos - and I love it.
Asha Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Finally Qualifying Result: 1 Alonso 2 Vettel 3 Webber 4 Hamilton 5 Rosberg 6 Kovalainen 7 Raikkonen 8 Button 9 Nakajima 10 Massa 11 Buemi 12 Trulli 13 Barrichello 14 Glock 15 Piquet Jr 16 Heidfeld 17 Fisichella 18 Sutil 19 Kubica 20 Alguersuari
Brainy Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 That was hilarious. About Massa though, as soon as it got to a close up of the car, I knew something his wrong. His helmet was just dangling down and not moving. Disappointed to see Hamilton 6th or wherever. or 4th then.

His helmet was just dangling down and not moving. I thought that, when he wasn't moving or attempting to get out of the car I thought it was he could be hurt. Anyway, I missed Q3, what exactly happened?
Asha Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I thought that, when he wasn't moving or attempting to get out of the car I thought it was he could be hurt.Anyway, I missed Q3, what exactly happened? The timing disappeared towards the end of the session, so no-one had any idea of the finishing order.
Brainy Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 The computer timing failed, so nobody knew who qualified where. Alonso to Button: Alonso: What was your time? Button: 1.22.5 Alonso 1.21.5? Button: No, 22.5 Alonso: You set a 22.5? I did a 21.5 Button: ****ing hell mate! caught on live tv.
lildave3 Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 The timing disappeared towards the end of the session, so no-one had any idea of the finishing order. Crazy.
Brainy Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I'm gonna predict Michael Schumacher will replace Massa for the rest of the season, considering Massa probably will be ruled out until next year.
Asha Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I'm gonna predict Michael Schumacher will replace Massa for the rest of the season, considering Massa probably will be ruled out until next year. Next year? Doubt he'll race tomorrow but I'm sure his injuries aren't that serious.
lildave3 Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 I'm gonna predict Michael Schumacher will replace Massa for the rest of the season, considering Massa probably will be ruled out until next year. Mika Salo.
Brainy Posted 25 July 2009 Posted 25 July 2009 Next year? Doubt he'll race tomorrow but I'm sure his injuries aren't that serious. He needs an emergency operation. Something to do with a cut to his head, brain concussion and bone damage. It's the kinda thing that will affect him for the rest of his driving career. Only consolation is that the next race is in four weeks. I have absolutely no idea how long it will take for him to recover. Luca Badoer & Marc Gene are the two reserves, neither will race tomorrow I dont think. Don't think they have to go to either of them two. They could go for Takuma Sato for e.g.....
