davieG Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 Gartland on Trial at Forest and Set for Spells With Rangers, Burnley and Leicester Thursday 11 Dec 2008 10:03:04 by Phil Town target Graham Gartland is on a two-day trial with fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest. The central defender is also set to spend time with Leicester City and have a second spell with Burnley. The Irish B international is also interesting SPL giants Rangers and has confirmed that he has been offered a trial at Ibrox. The 25-year-old says he would have no qualms about joining the Glasgow club despite his Irish Catholic background: “I have nothing to lose. If I was to sign for them then it would help others to do the same. “There are young lads who have maybe looked at it and thought that it’s not worth all the stick they would get. Perhaps if an older player like myself was to sign then it would make it easier. “I’d love the have the opportunity to join them but I’m not getting ahead of myself. So far, it has just been talk about me going on trial. I’m waiting to hear back on that and I’ll take it from there.” Gartland has also been linked with Hamilton Academical, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Elfsborg and Helsingborg.

Ric Flair Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 Who the mince is he? Thought this was something i'd read in the City of Leicester Thread.
Thracian Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 Don't know anything about him but thousands of prospects would be good enough to play for Hamilton Academicals and co. Seems to me he's got Rangers in his sights and everyone else is just chocolate. Me, I've not been excited watching Rangers in years and wouldn't want a ticket if they gave me one. I'd rather Gartland shut up and let his football do the talking.
Lillehamring Posted 11 December 2008 Posted 11 December 2008 Who the mince is he? Thought this was something i'd read in the City of Leicester Thread. looks like he plays centre-mid...

Im from the eircom league and seen garto playin and no him well. Hes about 6 foot 2 or dat. He is a rock solid central defender who gives 100 per cent. Easily one of the best centre halfs the league has ever had

Ric Flair Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Am I the only one, that when they were reading it automatically did it in an Irish accent in their head????!!!! Yes, with a twinge of Scouse for the word 'Garto'.
He's not bald Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008  Yes, with a twinge of Scouse for the word 'Garto'. Aint that a cake?
Alfie Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 *Aint that a cake? *Isn't that a cake?* Never heard of this guy. Not sure why he is being linked with so many clubs. To me this just seems like a desperate bid from his agent to find a club for him. I personally dont think we really need anymore signings. We have a very good core team now that has valid backup players where needed. We are top of the league with this team, if we can go through january without selling then we dont need to buy till the summer. Even in the summer im not entirely sure we need to sign many players.

Bear in mind that Martin, in February and Davies, at the year ends loans run out and Powell, in February Edworthy, in January contracts are up that's at least 4 player that need to be sorted. We also have, along with Fryatt, Kisnorbo and Henderson who's contracts up in the summer and not that it's that relevant but that also goes for Kishishev, Hayles and N'Gotty and a whole host of youngsters. So there could still be a few comings and goings forced on the club.
Darkzzz_ Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 Well he isn't short on offers is he. Never heard of the bloke.
Head Honcho Posted 16 December 2008 Posted 16 December 2008 How many clubs does he want to be linked with! I was thinking the same. His agents certainly been busy!

I can also see us keeping hold of Davies, Edworthy and Hendo. Leaving just Powell to replace, and some youngsters needing to be offered the right contracts. If/WHEN we go up we will have a bit (i hense a bit) of money to play around with. I think we will keep martin until the end of the season and sign him in the summer if he does well. Beleive we will sign Kerea aswell. Mattock will stay if we go up too. Leaving us with pretty much the sqaud we have now via the old has beens. Im probably being OTT with the optimism here. However i dont think Pearson will have bought in so many loans if he didnt think he had the option to buy.

As someone not so keen on the loan system I'd like to believe that but Pearson over-riding priority is to get us promoted if it takes loanees with no prospect of purchase I'm sure he'd go with that. Of course looking to the future is important but Mandaric won't be satisfied with 'hey boss sorry we missed out on promotion but we're all set for next season with all those loanees I signed on permanent contracts'

Of course we shal find out at the end of the season which one of philosophies is correct. I truly beleive that we will sign as many of the loanees that we have as possible and take them into the championship.

Im pure Irish and proud of it. Gartos agent isnt trying to find him a club its just alll these clubs want him. Dumfermline and Kilmarnock tried to buy him before he went to Drogheda Utd. He plays with his heart on his sleeve what club doesnt want that??

Ric Flair Posted 18 December 2008 Posted 18 December 2008 I like the sound of him, if we could get rid of Kisnorbo then i'd be happy to bring this lad in.
