Carlisle Player Ratings

Just back at 7.30 - we only live half an hour away - but we had to celebrate !

Martin - 6 - still has rushes of blood to the head (in fact he headed the ball inside the box at one point), but now at least seems more confident in his handling (must talk more to his defence though)

Gilbert - 6 - OK but I've still got my doubts - quick and likes going forward but a terrible crosser of the ball and often commits himself too early in defence

Hobbs - 7 - what became of the atrocious right back Hobbs - imposing and quick and decisive (sometimes a bit too decisive - wait a bit Jack !) - terrified their forwards at times (and me !)

Morrison - 6 - mostly steady and capable, but relied a lot on Hobbs to be there when he wasn't and he did make a few crucial mistakes (like letting their forward beat the offside trap for their goal)

Powell - 6 - generally competent, but slow (not surprising I know !) and occasionally caught out by their right winger (Taylor - a Leicester lad I'm told, who looked very good - sign him up Nige !)

Oakley - 6 - his usual steady game - in and out, but not talking enough for a captain or putting in enough demanding balls

King - 7 - like Oakley, mostly unimposing - I would probably have given him 6, but for - again - another stunning strike on goal

Dyer - 6 - not as dominating as he can be, but always lively, always threatening and you feel when he gets the ball things are going to get interesting (not always good though !) - he did worry their right back a lot (probably thinking, "whats he going to do next ?")

Berner - 7 - like King, at 60 mins I would have marked him down a point, but a revelation at left back (he went there when Powell went off and marshalled the winger much better) and well up for set pieces and being in the right place at the right time for the goal

Fryatt - 7 - his (recent !) usual quality self; worked immensely hard and put himself about a bit. Not really in too many scoring positions, but worried their defence all the time

Howard - 7 - like Fryatt, everywhere; won loads in the air, but (as usual) not in the box enough; could easily have scored a quality goal though (just before our first)

Subs:

Davies - 8 (probably would be a 9 if he was on for 90 mins) - MotM - quality - made all the difference to the midfield when he came on; tigerish (got booked), skillful, quick and decisive - sign him quick Nige before Wolves remember how good he is !

Adams - not on long enough

Not a great away performance, but competent. Pearson sets his stall out well and it was good to see.

PS Our fans were magnificent again - (Carlisle) "you're just a small town in Scotland, small town in Scot-land !!"

Dyer - 6

King - 7

Berner - 7

Oakley - 8 MotM

Fryatt - 7

Howard - 7.5

Davies - 7

Not a great performance, but got the result which is what counts. Was a great atmosphere, and i appreciated the players coming over at the end.

This Davies lad seems to be making the right impression and it sounds as if we were much more dangerous with him in the middle and Berner at left-back.

It really is time we had a regular and reliable left-back.

Thought Gilbert played quite well tbh :dunno: King was anonymous until the goal (again :P) Fryatt was pretty average, Oakley was fairly tidy, Dyer was poor, Steve played pretty damn well but perhaps should have scored and Davies looks a good player.

Martin 6 - Poor communication with the defence, but made a good save and distribution was good.

Gilbert 7 - Was good, supported well and defended well, the man's a hero.

Powell 6 - Professional job - Kids, take note.

Morrison 7 - Solid.

Hobbs 7 - A few shaky moments but generally solid.

Oakley 8 - Different class, here there and everywhere, played some nice stuff.

Dyer 5 - Poor again today.

King 6 - Anonymous first half, got more into in the second half and scored the most vital goal of the game.

Berner 6 - Tried to drive us on at times, it's good that he's versatile.

Fryatt 6 - Didn't do anything of note, apart from taking that bit too long with the ball, else there may have been a few more openings.

Howard 7 - Won pretty much everything, Carlisle defenders seemed to be scared of him, a battering ram at times, unlucky not to score.

Davies 7 - Changed the game, especially the pace of it, looks awesome.

6's and 7's all round, but that's not suggesting that we didn't play well. I think we put in a very good second half performance, one of the best I've seen this season.

Davies looks like a cracking signing, hopefully we can tie him to a long-term contract.

Oh yeah, I thought Oakley was everywhere again. He's been immense since moving out to the right. Yet another good decision from Nigel, who is fast becoming my hero.

Martin - 6 - Fancy a spell outfield?

Gilbert - 7 - Welcome.

Morrison - 6 - Not calm enough on the ball, puts us under pressure.

Hobbs - 6.5 - Partners better with Tunch.

Powell - 7 - Fantastic tackle.

Oakley - 7 - Good game, dropped infield effectiveley, having Gilbert helps.

King - 7 -Rescued by the goal.

Berner - 6.5 - Did it quietly. Good at left back.

Dyer - 6.5 - Some decent runs, little end product.

Fryatt - 7 - Not a lot for him today, ran the channels well.

Howard - 7.5 - Confidence increasing, needs a goal. Assist and solid in possesion for the most part.

Subs

Davies - 7 - Changed the tempo.

Care to elaborate on these two?

I will.

Martin came out of his area at least 4 times yesterdayday and could've put us in trouble.

Gilbert made what I think was a goal saving tackle, and because Ched didn't have his glasses on, and the ball was on Powell's side of the pitch, Ched thought Gilbert was actually Powell. Piss funny, and it's not the first time he's got a player wrong this season. :giggle:

Martin kept haring out of his goal to clear when it didn't look necessary, particularly one bit in the second half when he ran in between Hobbs and Morrison to head clear. There was also a funny part in the first half when Martin was way out of the area on our right hand side and their player attempted to fire it into the empty net from 45 yards... succeeding only in scuffing it diagonally along the ground ten yards straight to one of our players.

As for the fantastic tackle, I think that should be left as a private moment between Ched and Barack Obama.

Edit: ****ing Bert. :giggle:

I'm now more confused - so who has the bigger penis, Gilbert or Powell?

I'd imagine the clue is in your own post. Come Jan Mattock will probably go to be replaced by Berner as first choice LB with Powell as cover for the rest of the season.

Martin 6 - One very good save to stop us going 2-0 down.

Gilbert 7 - Solid game, I like him a lot. Made a crucial tackle early in the second half to prevent Graham from scoring.

Hobbs 6 - Solid enough, but shaky at the same time.

Morrison 6 - Ditto Hobbs.

Powell 6.5 - Composed as ever. This guy just doesn't put a foot wrong.

Oakley 7 - Another fairly commanding performance in the middle. He's not afraid to get stuck in at the moment and his game's much the better for it.

King 6 - Extra half for the goal, aside from this he was practically invisible. Another vital goal though from him!

Berner 6.5 - Steady all game long, extra bit for his goal.

Dyer 4 - Another poor showing from Lloyd. His end product was particularly woeful.

Howard 7.5 - MOTM. Two assists, some great hold up play and even some lovely balls in the first half!

Fryatt 6.5 - Decent enough, looked threatening at times and caused some problems at the back for Carlisle.
