Fez of Mahrez Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 There seems to be a lot of nonsense in here at the moment. Let's take shelter. Take a band at random that you used to listen to a lot and go back to them for a bit. I'm going for Radiohead. I get the melody from The Tourist in my head all the time for some reason. I'm not as fussed about OK Computer as most people though. For me, their real masterpieces have been relatively recent tracks like There There (breathtaking), Where I End And You Begin, Reckoner and 15 Step.
Maybes Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 Forget the Indie Fezzy, all about Laidback Luke at the moment. His essential mix the other month was amazing!!

Maybes Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 It'll take a nation of millions to pin me to one genre. Radiohead - Indy (I think) More of what I was commenting on. Joe. Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 'Kinell everything's classed as Indie these days! Shame on you Maybury.
Libertine Posted 19 December 2008 Posted 19 December 2008 I actually fell asleep earlier and made it through all of Kid A and OK Computer. Fun.

ASH17LCFC Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Yeah lets all listen to Fez and agree with his student opinions on music, Radiohead is your typical studenty band or be cool like Fez and name a band who aren't mainstream so we can laugh at people who listen to Oasis.
ASH17LCFC Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Jebus. Libertines are to mainstream for Fez and your back IN THE USSR thing ... The Beatles are far to big of a band for fez to like. This threads for the students who like bands who people haven't heard off and get all there opinions out of NME.
AoWW Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 Yeah, yeah, Oasis are wank-tastic, blah, blah, bleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuggggggghhhhhhhhh. Would you like us to all repeat this like a mantra in every thread in Music Discussion? (Yes, this is sarcasm - just to clarify). *sigh*
Samilktray Posted 20 December 2008 Posted 20 December 2008 I listened to some Hendrix today. First time so I didnt really used to listen to it, but I enjoyed it. So yeah, Hendrix.

Did thread should be renamed - Uni people up their own a-holes.

I also think you've spectacularly missed the point of it.

What is wrong with having a wide range of taste and a massive interest in music I have a massive collection of music by non mainstream bands it doesn't mean they are rubbish because they do things their own way and certainly doesn't mean I have a problem!!! I love to search for and discover new music it's a passion that has been in me for many years I like nothing more than introducing a band to someone and them thinking f**king hell who are these this is brilliant. as for taking opinions from the NME being a sheep you would obviously know more about that than me or Fez or others on here I haven't read the NME for about 10 years but for someone who likes to be told what to think instead of finding things out on their own it would probably suit you down to the ground.

I used to read Melody Maker and loved it cos it never "rated" albums/singles/gig, it just gave a review to help you make an informed choice. These reviews were generally so good that on several occasions I was album to recognise tunes I heard for the first time on the radio or in music stores before the DJ said what it was. I miss MM
Maybes Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Just for the banter Ash I am not at uni and have never attended Uni. Im not a fan of indie/rock/punk what ever you call it.
Bert Posted 21 December 2008 Posted 21 December 2008 Ash. How come you're allowed an opinion but no-one else is?
Daggers Posted 22 December 2008 Posted 22 December 2008 I have an opinion: Ash17knobface is a twathole.
