Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 **** off back to the Premiership if you're going to referee like that. Disgraceful.
Simi Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 **** off back to the Premiership if you're going to referee like that. Disgraceful. Refereeing like that is the reason he's been dropped down to League 1.
Matt Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Refereeing like that is the reason he's been dropped down to League 1. Really do not get that rule 1 bit. Why, oh why do the lower clubs in lower division's have to suffer for a dodgy refereeing decision? How is that punishing the referee? Surely it is punishing the lower clubs having an inept dodgy referee?! Oh well that's the F.A/F.L for ya.

How is that punishing the referee? Surely it is punishing the lower clubs having an inept dodgy referee?! Yes. I think if demotion is going to be a proper punishment, refs ought to be sent back to Sunday League football, where the chances of being nutted for poor decisions are much higher.
Ultra Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 He was p!sspoor today. Davies was booked for his first foul, while several home players escaped punishment altogether for far worse assaults. And stopping the game for a non-existent Leeds injury when Dyer was about to go one-on-one towards goal was an absolute disgrace. But we've learned to expect these shenanigans in games away to Ken Bates teams..
DB11 Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Commentary was really positive of him saying he was great Really do not get that rule 1 bit. Surely it is punishing the lower clubs having an inept dodgy referee?!Oh well that's the F.A/F.L for ya. As part of the PGMO (Premierleague Game Match Officials) contract the Select Group have to referee a minimum amount of Football League games anyway (they just so happen to be when they have a poor performance in the Prem) so it isn't really a demotion.
Simi Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 And stopping the game for a non-existent Leeds injury when Dyer was about to go one-on-one towards goal was an absolute disgrace. Any excuse to spare his blushes after he obstructed the Leeds player.
Cobbo Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 He was shite. Stopped our advantage and then said clearly for all to see that it was an elbow injury. Well, I do not know the biology of your pody Mark, however, my head is not there. So many nasty or cynical tackles on our players but no booking. Needed to get his card out a bit more.

Judging by the commentary, the advantage was stopped and pulled back for a free kick because Fryatt was offside therefore no advantage accrued. And he elbowed thier player didn't he?

Joe. Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Clearly stopped the game for Leeds' "injury" to save his own blushes after he sent us through on goal. It's not difficult to see why he's been demoted to League One.

And he elbowed thier player didn't he? Fairly sure that was a separate incident. That definitely happened at another time anyway cos we were singing 'Hallelujah'. Dyer was the one through on goal as Cobbo says.
JoeyB Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 was shocking. Bottled it bigstyle! and DB11 stop trying to get your head up the refs arse you tit, you weren't their so you can't judge!!!
dandannieldanok Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Commentary was really positive of him saying he was great Rubbish, I listened to the full 90 minutes and they continually moaned at the fact he refused to book anyone.
Guest Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 Rubbish, I listened to the full 90 minutes and they continually moaned at the fact he refused to book anyone. True, until he had the slightest sniff of a Leicester booking. Couldn't get his card out quick enough then.
DB11 Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 and DB11 stop trying to get your head up the refs arse you tit, you weren't their so you can't judge!!! Yes I've well defended him in this thread Rubbish, I listened to the full 90 minutes and they continually moaned at the fact he refused to book anyone. Not at all. They praised his advantages, coming back to decisions when there was no advantage, giving Steve Howard free kicks for pushes in the back. It was only in the last 30 minutes that they were moaning that he didn't caution anyway. Then when a Leicester player was rightly cautioned they were asking for a caution for every foul onwards. Being bias is one thing but only choosing to see and commentate in one way is unacceptable.

He messed up on 2 advantages. 2 bad/ worse fouls before davies got booked. Their was also the time when the ref ran into a Leeds player (looked like he did) the Leeds player went down like a sack of spuds, we were on the attack and the ref pulled it back....
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 I didn't think he was too bad - to be fair he had to bring back the play after he took out there player! Howard didn't have many free kicks given against him, Davies booking was to be expected, it was a take a booking for the team as Leeds were breaking. Did I miss something he didn't give? (except for fouls when seen in rose tinted glasses.)

Look at it from his point of view; imagine the uproar had we gone on to score from that. He had to play safe and stop play for an 'injury'. Just like when there is a 50-50, you give it to the defending team as there is less chance a goal is scored. People will always remember a goal controversially awarded a lot longer than one that isn't (Stuart Attwell's "phantom goal" is still remembered but what about the goal ruled out for offside incorrectly that happens a lot)
Father Ted Posted 26 December 2008 Posted 26 December 2008 The standard of refereeing is absolutely crap. I have to put up with some right goons on Sunday's who learn from the likes of these by watching their mistakes on MOTD. Refs are beginning to influence matches way too much and something needs to be done.

I think all the poor refs from sunday league should be promoted to the pro game where they have less chance of being nutted for a poor decision. I don't really get that commment
