City Fan Posted 20 April 2005 Posted 20 April 2005 I still blame it on Roy Essandoh!! We were sitting in approx 4th place with Taylor in charge in about March, and then this little git popped up and knocked us out the FA cup, and we lost the rest of our league games, bar one against Tottenham on the last day of the season. The next season, our poor form continued, and it all went tits up from there...... ROY ESSANDOH!!!
filbertway Posted 20 April 2005 Posted 20 April 2005 I blame peter taylor. he is the one who got rid of a lot of the team that did so well for us. He wasted large quantities of money on players not good enough. He said taking the england job part time wouldn't affect his club performance.
Matt Posted 20 April 2005 Posted 20 April 2005 Without a doubt Peter Taylor... In brief the knock on effects by PT; -He got us relegated (The damage was already done by him!) -He wasted all our money = Administration -Administration = Almost losing our club. -We got promoted anyway got to the prem = Administration:- No money for players -Relegated again, And here we are, fighting for our lives in Division 1... In the past I have come up with better reasons of why we're where we are today thanks to PT, but to be honest i've gone over them time after time so i've just done it in brief above, Really if you look at my brief explanation it seems to revolve roud administration and money, If look deeper into every little thing, PT becomes more and more to blame! Oh well, We can give PT a nice warm welcome back next season, thats 1 plus for next season I suppose...
Wellman Posted 20 April 2005 Posted 20 April 2005 Wycombe guy! Can't really say he's to blame where we are now, but he's the one who started it in a way
C-man Posted 20 April 2005 Posted 20 April 2005 Wycombe guy! Can't really say he's to blame where we are now, but he's the one who started it in a way 96159 I would say PT cos he let Lennon go, which i believe to be the turning point of our fortunes
shen Posted 20 April 2005 Posted 20 April 2005 Essandoh is the symbol of the start of our decline... He's not to blame though
Collymore Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 MON, Cause if had not given us a taste of fine wine, we would be happy with the lambrusco we have now
Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 MON, Cause if had not given us a taste of fine wine, we would be happy with the lambrusco we have now 96339 Glad you're feeling Lambrusco cos it feels like meths to me. Essandoh turned up playing for Barnet against Northampton in the LDV Vans trophy a year or two ago, there were only about 2,000 fans there and he must have wondered why some lunatic booed every touch he took. There were so few fans in the stand I was in that he kept looking up at me quizzically.
breadandcheese Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 People blame Peter Taylor. In my opinion, fault lies squarely with the previous board. Peter Taylor was an employee of Leicester City. The board were the employers. It was the board who offered the outrageous wages to players regardless of our finances. In fact, I do not believe Pater Taylor had privy to the accounts of Leicester City and its debts. The board took out loans to build the stadium which we could ill-afford (again not Taylor). It was the board who negotiated the transfer fees when signing players (not Taylor). In short, very competent businessmen were living a childhood dream and disregarding all their experience and teachings. Consequently, they spent big living the dream. We suffered. For all the current management criticisms on this forum (which I do not share), the club is being run a damn sight better than previously. So I appreciate the work Mr. Mace is doing. Oh yeah, and it's wrecked, not recked.
Fox in a Box Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 MON, Cause if had not given us a taste of fine wine, we would be happy with the lambrusco we have now 96339 Marton O'Neill for all his success put a strain the club bringing in a high wage abeit we were high in the prem you have to pay for where you are. He left the club healthy but HE raised the bar of expectations. PT is clueless and not worthy of my time typing this in. to blame.... JOHN ELSOM http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/sports_talk/2352541.stm "Lest we forget the real reason we're in this mess - Peter Taylor spending £23m on predominantly sub-standard players. And John Elsom, who is clearly a lovely bloke, nevertheless let him promise several of them £30,000-a-week - madness!" He also Double Mortgaged the club against new players........... FOOL

It was the boards fault, they employed Taylor and then Bassett, if they had got hold of any other manager I reckon we'd have stayed up. Bassett held all the respect of piece of dog sh*t.

I would pretty much agree with all of the above post as it was clearly mostly the boards fault IMO.
Collymore Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 Paul Dickov...For misisng that peno against Man City.. I believe we would have stayed up if he had scored
Guest freund Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 the fans 96447 care to explain? 96453 yes.
jase67 Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 Mainly Taylor, however there was a series of events that led to Taylor being able to do it. There was a battle between Mon and pierpoint. Oneil won and with Pierpoint gone it really should have meant Mon would finally have some money to spend.MON had become bigger than the club, can you imagine that Brian Little or MA could have forced the chief Exec out. But Oneil left us and thats what caused the problems. Elsom was Mon lapdog and none of us minded, we had a shrewd manager. Unfortunately Elsom was just as good to Taylor. Taylor as we now no to our cost was useless in the transfer market, the problem was that the very thing that had held Leicester back all those years (pierpoint ) was not around to interfere when we were really needed a buisness mans brain. So ultimately its Taylors fault aided by Elsom.
FNQ Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 Who wreked the club? Well most recently, the fans ofcourse. Although it looks like Craig Levein is begining to do a decent job of wreking the club.
Anish Posted 21 April 2005 Posted 21 April 2005 How can the fans 'wreck' the club? If it wasn't for us turning up in our thousands and buying merchandise etc there would be no club.
