Martin 7 - Took a couple of crosses excellently. Distribution ok for a change. Not sure whether he could have stopped the second from where I was. Edworthy 5 - Just a bit too slow today Tunchev n/a - Oh dear Hobbs 4 - Bad distribution and not a great defensive display all round. Brave in the air though. Mattock 6 - Ok, decent going forward - was missing for the second. Oakley 2 - Awful. How he missed the chance with 5 mins to go is beyond me. Poor passing, poor movement, poor poor poor. Berner 5 - Won't cut it in central midfield in the championship. King 4 - PASS THE BLOODY BALL FORWARDS! Gradel 6 - If the boy could take the ball with him when he beat players, he would have got more. Took the goal well. Howard 8 - A genuinely decent performance. Tried very hard and won a lot of headers/ Dickov 1 - Go away. Morrison 6 - Decent defensively, distribution was up and down. Chambers 7 - Pace and a willing runner. Two things Dickov lacked severely. Made a huge difference when he came on Pearson - I know the league's our priority but not selecting Davies, Fryatt and Dyer in the squad sent out the message to those on the pitch and in the stands that we didn't care about this game.

act smiley Posted 15 January 2009 Posted 15 January 2009 Martin 6/7 - Not much he could have done about either - the deflection off King's heel took the first away from him, it was covered for sure other than that. Edworthy 6 - Got caught out a couple of times, and done for pace, but generally average. Hobbs 6 - Generally okay, but wasn't great on their second I thought. Tunchev 8 - Kept them very quiet indeed, while he was on the pitch. Mattock 6 - Did ok, nothing more. Oakley 4 - Dreadful miss, and pretty poor showing in general. Not very noticable is the most positive way of putting it. Berner 6 - Kept things ticking over, but didn't really control things enough. King 5 - Leaving aside the unfortunate deflection, wasn't really anything great. Gradel 6/7 - Hit and miss - for every trick that came off there was one that didn't, and the delivery was also quiehit and miss. Kept it up, though and we looked far more of a threat down the left than the right. I didn't see the dive. Howard 8 - Won everything, good flick-ons and charged around a fair bit too. Dickov 5 - Every good thing had a matching mistake or mis-read pass. Plenty of drive, too much of it mis-placed - and not quick enough to make the most of it. Morrison 7 - Did a good job, but couldn't keep the defense settled like Tunchev does. Gilbert 6 - ok. Chambers 8 - five more minutes and he'd have scored.

Mattock 5 - Got made to look silly a few times. Hobbs 6 - Won pretty much everything Tunch N/A - We seemed fairly solid until he went off. Oakley 4 - Woeful. Berner 5 - Headless Chicken. King 5 - Made to look a mug at times. Gradel 6 - A goal, and showed a bit of passion, unlike most others. Howard 7 - Won everything as per, seeming to talk his way into trouble a lot these past few games. Dickov 4 - Just as bad as Oakley. Morrison 6 - Solid enough. Chambers 7 - Made things happen, created our goal, our second best chance and forced a good save from their keeper. Gilbert 6 - Tightened things up, seemed to give Oakley a bit more confidence.

Your mark is much further from the average. Anyway I wasn't paying that much attention for a lot of the game as it was all so boring and miserable. I thought he tried but didn't play well, hence the 5. Happy to stand by that.

Edworthy - 4 Nothing good came from him. Not quick enough Oakley needed someone to bomb on ahead of him. Tunchev - 5 Decent enough before injury. Hobbs - 8 Won everything in the air up against Lee and got the ball down and passed it. Mattock 6 - Supported the play well, overlapped Gradel many a time. Oakley - 4 Shoddy performance. Needed someone quicker down the right, miss said it all about his performance last night. Berner - 5 Nothing to say. King - 5 First goal came off him and the second I have no idea what he was trying to do. Gradel 7 - Was up for it from the start always looked to beat his man. Final ball let him down abit. Out of everyone he deserved a goal though. Howard - 7 Won the majority of things in the air, couldnt link with Dickov. Dickov - 4 Very, very disappointing. Time to go. Rather DJ here than him. Morrison - 7 Won alot in the air and had a solid game. Chambers - 7 Good when he came on linked with Howard and made some intelligent runs in behind, had shot well saved and made Maxi's goal. Gilbert - 6 Done more in his 15 minutes than Edworthy did for 75. I just wish we had a chance to see Levi on the right last night because their left back was there for the taking but Oakley obviously isnt going to beat a defender with his pace. Probably would off seen him if Tunch wasnt injured.

The amount of times David Martin has been beaten this season by deflections that are supposedly unsaveable is beyond me. There have been a few where they didn't go in, but Martin was nowehere near as well such as that scuffer against Peterborough that for the life of me I couldn't understand how Martin had let it trickle past him. Fulham he was beaten by a soft deflected goal, possibly two if i'm being harsh. There was one v Huddersfield, that admittedly might not have been easy to save. One last night and i'm sure there has been others, Brighton rings a bell.

He'll possibly turn out to be a half decent goalie, but it seems we are his learning curve and it pisses me off a bit.
