GLC Posted 13 February 2009 Posted 13 February 2009 A passenger plane has crashed into a home near Buffalo airport in upstate New York, United States, killing 50 people R.I.P
StanSP Posted 13 February 2009 Posted 13 February 2009 Apparently there was a woman on there whose husband died in 9/11. Unfortunatley she died today too. Of all days too... R.I.P
Monk Posted 13 February 2009 Posted 13 February 2009 Seems weird to get such a large explosion from a turboprop aircraft. Something must have gone wrong very quickly else he would have fuel dumped and made an emergency landing in Buffalo. Some have pointed towards the freezing conditions... but seems bizarre. Propellor planes are used in arctic conditions all over the world. Fking hate those little Bombardier planes, it's like being in a very loud sardine can with 50 other people. If the wind does so much as breeze you feel like you're riding a kite. I landed at Newark in one back in November in bad weather - scared the shits out of me.

The plane was carrying over 2.5 tonnes of fuel and burst into a fireball on impact.
Edmund Posted 13 February 2009 Posted 13 February 2009 Shit that's bad news, especially so soon after the heroics of the hudson pilot. What a comedown. R.I.P
Monk Posted 13 February 2009 Posted 13 February 2009 2.5 Tonnes of Fuel. Ah. Yes. that could be it.... Still, must have gone wrong very quickly for the pilot not to be able to dump fuel or make an emergency landing.

You seem to be very fixed on that the plane should have dumped its fuel! About that though, how do you dump fuel if it's over land?
