davieG Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 It's not won until it's won! Championship - 20/12/08 - Wolves 9 points clear of 3rd place Wolves P24 Pts 56 Reading P24 Pts 49 Birmingham P 24 Pts 47 Wolves form since then W1 D4 L4 15/02/09 - Wolves potentially in 2nd place by virtue of goal difference Wolves P33 Pts 63 Birmingham P 32 Pts 60 Reading P31 Pts 59 NB - Millwall, with games in hand 'could be' just 9 points behind us in 3rd place. Lots of ifs in our league, including if we can start winning at home again?

Lots of ifs in our league, including if we can start winning at home again? I'll take Millwall being 9 points behind us in the unlikely event that they win all their games in hand. Sure we're not home and dry, but I'd rather be under the umbrella than out in the downpour (ooh, what a nice little metaphor! )
StanSP Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 I just hope that we get our home form sorted out soon. But before that, we just need to take it game by game. A lot of eyes will be looking at the MK Dons game. But we have two important games before that - Hartlepool and Bristol Roves. They will both be tough tests, but first up is Hartlepool. And that's where our focus should be. Will be tough because of the long trip up north and the weather won't be that great either. But our away form has been superb this year. Just hope that that carries on right through to the end of the season.
Corky Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 One of Millwall's games in hand is against Dons, so if they win, the Dons won't gain any ground on us. It is easy to slip up, but as soon as our form returns, we'll be positive again.
Tilley Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 This should shut up our moaning fans. If our bad patch is a few draws then we don't have alot to worry about. I would be far more worried if I was a Wolves fan. A win on Tuesday & all is forgotton.
StanSP Posted 15 February 2009 Posted 15 February 2009 Carlisle. What happened with them?? And Tilley you're right. Our last bad patch was October, and that was when we lost a couple too. THis time we are only drawing, and we still have a big gap ahead of 2nd, and even bigger with 3rd.

I have just said in another thread EVERY team has a dodgy spell over the season at some point if this is ours which I think it is and we are still managing to pick up (Undeserved) draws that is a big positive surely?! It is disappointing and slightly worrying but unless we lose a few in a row or something no alarm bells are being raised by me. Jezus and people call me a moaner? Very positive thoughts from me at the moment.

Games the chasing pack must play against each other are a major factor in our favour and a big reason why it is such an advantage to have established a significant cushion at the top of the table. That said, if we keep getting caught in a sort of limbo between going for games and being cautious we might still start losing and giving the chasers incentives they'll not have expected. Our form will return when Pearson restores the team's sense of purpose, demands a faster tempo (including the speed of passing) and when he stops players casually squandering possession in non-attacking positions.
