Bert

Bruno Berner.

When we first signed him I had my doubts as we already had Mattock and Powell at left-back but now Bruno is the King.

He is SOLID, probably the strongest player in the squad, if I had to pick one and he can play anywhere.

Berner is one of my fav players, hes brings a sense of calm to the team and he has passion, along with being a solid player who gets the jb done that he needs to do.

I appreciate him coming over to the fans at the end of the game aswell if hes been playing and when i went to the signing session and got my Carlisle program signed not long after the Carlisle game, he asked if i was there and he said respect, as i think he appreciates the efforts the fans put in, along with Powell when he plays.

I've been thinking for a few days now that we should (perhaps) play Berner in the middle of 3 CBs ans use Gilbert and Mattock as wingbacks, providing a bit more width than we're getting at the minute.

Oakley, King and Dyer in midfield and the usual 2 up front.

How does that provide more width when you've got two flank players further back down the pitch, both of whom are ultimately defenders?

Having said that Mattock looks a competent enough left-mid in this league. He's not got the attributes to be a natural but even so he'd be more than adequate there at the minute.

When fullbacks overlap they start in the same place, only wingbacks have more licence to go forward because of the extra cover at the back.

Using them as wingbacks would utilise their pace better(imo).
