Bert Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 One of our un-sung heroes this season i think. Very under-rated imo and brings a lot more steel to our midfield, also versatile, brings experience to the team, and seems a very good player to have in the squad. What does everyone else think about him?
DB11 Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Ever since I saw him play in the JPT I thought he was very solid. Un sung hero indeed!
Fox You Forest Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Ever since I saw him play in the JPT I thought he was very solid. Un sung hero indeed! That's exactly what he is, Solid.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 One of our un-sung heroes this season i think. Very under-rated imo and brings a lot more steel to our midfield, also versatile, brings experience to the team, and seems a very good player to have in the squad. What does everyone else think about him? If I had my way, he'd be starting every game. Calm, reassured, and, ultimately, a very clever player. Excellent at reading the game, breaking up play, and finding space, I think he compliments King perfectly. That's our best midfield pairing in my opinion, I think that their styles combine to allow each player to do what they do best. Second only to Tunchev in the "Buy of the Season" stakes for me.
Daggers Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 A better left back than Mattock (although that would be most of the squad at the moment, he was well off the pace today) and brings presents to the midfield party - I like him. Bert, you were saying shortly after he got here that he did loads of stuff that often went undetected and you're right.
J.Lisemore Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Been very good most of the time i've seen him, although I would like to see him in the middle of the park a bit more often.

What does everyone else think about him? City are a far better team when Bruno is playing. He is class, especially in midfield, IMO he should be starting each game. Put him into centre midfield, drop Dyer & move Oakley out wide.
lildave3 Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Solid player. Played for the pen tonight, and somehow won it.
JakeShingler Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Probably my favrioute or one of my favrioute players.
Koke Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Nothing outstanding or fancy, but he's solid and knows his job. We should revert back to the old midfield that was doing so well earlier in the season i.e. King and Berner in the middle.
Lillehamring Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 yet he seems to often come very low in the ratings, i think a lot of people had him down as one of those players who they would never rate... here's my thread from earlier in the season

I don't many actually valued his work which went unnoticed quite a lot. But to be fair, sometimes Bruno can become restless and give possession away rather easily or go AWOL. That's the same reason why King has only won 1 man of the match this season despite all his goals, he goes missing for large chunks of the game sometimes.
Ric Flair Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Love the bloke. Thought he helped us dig in and win some important points through a rough patch in November when he was moved in to the centre and then the way he changed the game for us against Huddersfield at home was quality. I think if he stays fit and doesn't get suspended, he'll be one of the first names on the team sheet in the final third of the season. He gives us that bite, that King needs alongside him.
JoeyB Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 He is great, he looks the business in that CM role and is bringing out the tricks to go alongside it to.

Corky Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Definitely. Looks solid, doesn't mess about and gets stuck in.

Obviously not using last night as an example (cos he got beat quite a few times), Mattock generally has a bit more pace but Berner undoubtedly has a better positional sense. I do think Bruno works better in midfield though to be fair
Cobbo Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 The lad is class. He's a winner too. You can see how much it all means to him in celebrations etc. Great mentality. Think we need to get him in the centre of the park to stabilise us a bit (get Powell in at LB!). He sits well and has the ability to play in there at this level. It'd free King up a bit more too.
syston_fox Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 Solid player. Played for the pen tonight, and somehow won it. I'm still in shock as to how he conned the ref into that one. The ball wasn't even in play when Bruno went down
Muz Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I loved the little wink he gave to us when the ref pointed to the spot. Hero
CosbehFox Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I think he's average but he clearly work his balls off and wants to succeed here.
MC Prussian Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 What else? Your statements on Berner make me proud being Swiss. Which is a rare occurrence. Glad to read all that appreciation. LAUF, BRUNO, LAUF!!
Webbo Posted 18 February 2009 Posted 18 February 2009 I've been thinking for a few days now that we should (perhaps) play Berner in the middle of 3 CBs ans use Gilbert and Mattock as wingbacks, providing a bit more width than we're getting at the minute. Oakley, King and Dyer in midfield and the usual 2 up front.
