Looking skywards and seeing no areoplanes. Strange, but nice.

(No Flights in UK Airspace from Noon today due to the Ash)

What intrigues me is how come USAF military jets are still happily flying in and out of Mildenhall and Lakenheath. :dunno: Still planes in the sky round here. :blink:

the ash is actually in the high Jetstream, which is where commerical aircraft fly, and where the ATC are used to controlling them.. I guess the USAF are more than capable fo flying beneath the ash, and they can decide for themselves whether to take the risk.

I imagine that the imperative for the armed forces is to prove that a bit of soot doesn't ground a third of the nation's defence - and that they are indeed seen taking off and landing a fair bit.

Talking of Birmingham something shocked me yesterday. I watched Timothy Spall Somewhere at Sea and realised that Timothy is not a Brummie! I always thought he was.
