I tried and couldnt find it either, might not get uploaded on there until later/tomorrow though

I hope it does, I don't live in Leicester so its hard to get a copy of the Mercury! Rely on that site quite a bit for the latest info, espeically when knowitall isn't around!

Been singing this song all day and even my mates are humming the tune and they aren't even fans of City!

Same here, but sure it'll be up soon. Someone will post a link to it when it goes up, usually do

Ill have a go at scanning it in, can't promise anything though!

Edit: The titles called; Dave's tribute to Foxes could be a stadium hit.

MPH, I am assuming your Matt Harrison? and Foxestalk was also mentioned.

How about putting in Theo Zagorakis tries to give Banks a kiss or something along those lines.

Sure many others on here could come up with some good Theo lines to add.

Good Luck with the song, it sounds great.

I think I've got Theo in there now and one new verse has allowed one or two others including Banks, Shilton and Gary Mills to get in too, although I'm trying keep to as much the same in the original as possible.

On an aside, could I be cheeky and ask someone to keep a copy of today's Mercury for me as I can't get through to the right people at the paper on the phone to reserve me a copy. I do not live in Leicester and so if someone could help me out so I can have a copy to keep, that would be great - I'll obviously reimburse the kind soul for the paper and postage!

My scanners playing up, but this is how the article reads:

YOUTUBE SUCCESS: THOUSANDS LISTEN TO MUSICAL SALUTE.

Dave's tribute to Foxes could be a stadium hit.

When Leicester City fan Dave Jenson decided to pen a musical tribute to his footballing heroes, it was just a bit of fun.

But within a week of him posting it on the website YouTube it had been listened to by more than 8.000 - and could now be played at the Walkers Stadium. The 28 year-old's song is called Heroes in Blue and White and is sung to the tune of Billy Joel's 1989 hit, We didn't start the fire.

Its lyrics feature City stars Matt Fryatt and Patrick Kisnorbo as well as some famous names from the past, including Gary Lineker, Alan Birchenall and Steve Walsh.

Dave, originally from Leicester but now living in Southampton, said: "I have been a Leicester fan since the 1990 World Cup got me into football"

"After posting the song, I looked at the messages online and I was amazed. People were saying it should be recorded. I have done other funny songs in the past, and when I was at University the guy in the room next to me had a guitar - we just started doing it as a bit of fun"

The club has been in contact with Dave about recording a version of the song that could be played at the Walkers. Dave said: "If the club did pick up on it, it would be brilliant. Just to get it played at half-time would be great"

The song on YouTube is accompanied by a video showing images of players. A city spokesman said: "We have had e-mails from supporters regarding the song, and numerous staff also picked up on it. We have spoken to the creator with a view to a version being recorded that could possibly be played at the stadium before or after a game"

Dave has also been contacted by 19-year old Josh Parker, of Leicester who heard about the song on an online forum. He occasionally works for a recording studio in Dorset, and offered to help Dave record a new version. Josh said: " I just heard it and I really enjoyed it because it reminded me of the players I grew up with. I sent Dave a message as I noticed he lived down South and said if he wanted to record the song, I would help him. The lyrics are clever and the fans have gone for it in a big way".

Matt Harrison, 34, of Clarendon Park, Leicester has been a Foxes fan for 29 years. He said: "I'm a regular poster on the Leicester City message board, called Foxestalk, and lots of people there love the song and a few have mentioned that they would love to have it released. Some people even mentioned that it could be released for next season and the proceeds go to the chosen charity that Leicester will be advertising on their shirts"

A plug for the song, the forum and a chance to get it recorded and played before / after games. Rosy.

Did the Mercury really spell David's name wrong, or was that a typo in fox123's re-write?

Probably my typo, I had to type it all out from the article, took me ages.

Considering some of the bollocks that's perofmed at half time or whatever at the Walkers there's 0 excuse for not getting this kid out there on the center spot to hollar this out.

That way he can sneak the cheeky DJ Campbell line in even if they make him remove it from the recording. Be a rebel, son! ;)

Aye nice one chaps!! How'd you swing that quote then mph!?

i just emailed in the song and a copy of the thread on here about the song to the merc, explained why which was the quote.

few days later someone emails me back asking name age, ect and said they were doing an article on the song.

i think it itself that explains the quality of the song. :chant::scarf:

This is just a note to say thank-you to everyone for their kind comments on the song and to those of you who have made the club aware of it and also to update those of you interested on its progress. I'm genuinely overwhelmed by how popular the song has been and how many people seem to have enjoyed it… this time last week I would never have thought I'd be doing an interview for the Leicester Mercury about it!

I have spoken with Peter Jones, the Supporter Relations Manager at LCFC and I'm really pleased to report that it looks like it will be played some time before kick-off at a forthcoming home game and potentially, regularly. Many thanks to anyone who has contacted the club… they now are well aware of it and I think Peter Jones's inbox is ready for a rest!

The song requires some minor alterations to the lyrics and also the audio quality needs to be improved for it to be played at the ground, so a new version will be recorded. I've been contacted by a City fan who works at a recording studio and he is generously going to help me with it. Whilst not wanting to deviate too far from the original, there may well be some drums/electric guitar/bass added. As I said, I'll be making some small changes to the lyrics, if anyone has any opinions as to who, if anyone should also be included, let me know. I'm thinking possibly Banks/Shilton/Gary Mills and I'm also still keen to find a rhyme for Theo Zagorakis!

Due to my work commitments and those of the studio, it may take a few weeks to get done but I'm hoping if all goes well, it'll be ready for the Carlisle game at the Walkers on 4th April at the latest.

Once again, thanks for your part in making the song so popular. I'll post this message on a couple of the other forums so apologies if you read it twice.

Dave

Was great hearing you sing Heroes in Blue and White on Tuesday at the Player Awards, i think you received the best reception of the night, and there were quite afew chuckles aswell. It was the highlight of the night for me. I can listen to it over and over as it sums up Leicester and makes me smile!

Is there anywhere where the new version can be bought or downloaded?

I contacted Dave a few days ago. He's planning on getting the new version onto Itunes, and also available to download from the Loros website. All proceeds going to Loros. He didn't give me a timescale on when this is happening though.
