welck12 Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 This guy lives down the road from me, he is always skating around the villages/town around here and now the council are fining him, its a joke. Cant believe they are wasting time and money on this Rollerblading Grandad
James. Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 I can't believe it made it on to the front page of the Metro this morning!
davieG Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 He's obviously suffering as a result of the hoards of skateboarders who can be nuisance and don't move out of the way. This is typical of what is happening in our society, someone becomes a nuisance, a law is brought in to stop them and as a consequence all the responsible people doing the same or similar things are stopped/punished.

The stupid thing about it is, the street they are doing him for skating on has a sign on it which says skating is allowed. If they dont want people skating there, ban it plain and simple!
Uncle Monty Posted 25 February 2009 Posted 25 February 2009 This news story is bollox. From the footage i have seen he is clearly a nuisance, scaring people as he weaves in and out of them in a busy city centre environment, don't give him different treatment because he's an old boy. If he were a teenager it would be a different story. I'm all for him skating but why in a busy place and not just on a quite street???

Jordan Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 The hardest part about rollerblading? Telling your mom that you're gay.
BoneDog Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 He's a danger to society is he?! In Liverpool?! Mental

Cant believe they are wasting time and money on thisRollerblading Grandad I've mentioned the compensation culture elsewhere today and this is just another illustration of how compensatory fears are dictating our lives now by impacting on everything we do. The bloke deserves a medal for initiative in the combating of potential obesity. As for the £1700+ costs he faces the prospect of having to pay. Costs for what. For some idiot to demonstrate that he can find a law to prosecute anyone for anything? I'm sure there will be excuses. And I'm sure the apoligists will defend the action. Cars are potentially dangerous too - trundling down busy, pedestrian-lined roads far faster than any sodding skater. Just think how much could be made from preosecuting that lot. Cyclists are others who are a constant threat. And dawdling women with prams, pushchairs and bloody great umbrellas. Where I live there are more cyclists use the footpath than pedestrians at certain times and their wheels are a damned sight bigger than roller blades and some of em move faster than cars during rush-hours. Lets prosecute them too. In fact prosecute everyone, every day and pay off the National debty in under 100 years with the proceeds. Let every day be roll-up-in-court day. Arseholes.

Zingari Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 don't the police use rollerblades on some city centre patrols ? maybe it's in another country maybe i just dreamt it

If they dont want people skating there, ban it plain and simple! Absolutely. And picking your nose, scratching your balls, walking with a limp, speaking with an English accent and wearing flat hats. The thing this country needs is discipline and respect for the rule of law. Those fecking 70 year olds are getting right out of control.
Thracian Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 Euthanasia.... it's the only answer. You've not heard Labour's answer to the pensioner problem have you! No wonder they're all getting their skates on...
Babylon Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 You've not heard Labour's answer to the pensioner problem have you! No wonder they're all getting their skates on... The bloke should try skating in straight lines rather than circles, they will catch him easily like that. Maybe he has one leg shorter than the other.
davieG Posted 26 February 2009 Posted 26 February 2009 The rights and wrongs may be confusing but the thread has become highly amusing
