I aint reading 3 pages so I don't even know if anyone has mentioned it but when Ronaldo got cautioned for diving, it was never a penalty!

Ronaldo knew once he got to the ball first that contact was inevitable so he started going down before hand. I don't agree with the yellow, the referee should have played on, but it was never a penalty

Yes it was.

Man Utd didn't win it- winning on penalties doesn't count.

Or it didn't in 2005 when Liverpool won the Champions League, according to the Man Utd fans that is.

It was clearly a penalty. And I will tell your stupid little ass why I think it is aswell.

Ronaldo was running with the ball in the Spurs 18 yard box, yes? Ronaldo then felt contact on his foot from Ledley King's foot. Ledley King did not touch any of the ball in the challenge and Ronaldo fell from the challenge. The rules are if the challenger does NOT touch any of the ball but makes clear contact with the player then it is a foul. Thank you.

United deserved their victory today, I just wish Spurs didnt have players that were cup-tied then we might of seen both of the best possible XI's available today. Shame.

Dan, I thought it was a penalty. The reason already explained by Uncle Albert.

In your reasoning you say Ronaldo started going down before hand. Surely that's looking for the penalty i.e Simulation, therefore a mandatory yellow card?

Contact was inevitable. He was on his way down naturally due to overstretching to get to the ball therefore whether it was simulation or not who can tell?

Fair enough, that would be hard to sell (most FANS would want either a penalty or a yellow for diving else it looks like the ref has just bottled it) but it's what I reckon's right.

I'd of probably waved it away at first viewing to be honest, only the replays made me think about it a little more.

Was good to see Spurs lose, but equally bad to see Man Utd win. The worst possible two teams in a final for me. Couldn't want either to win

Yeah, on first viewing I thought 'get up you cheat' but the replays made me think although he was looking for it, it could have been given.

The most ludicrous thing happened though after the game, which made me want to start a topic completely dedicated to it but I couldn't be arsed in the end.

Basically, I watched the game at the Student's Union which was full of United 'fans', and when the game finished, I was on my way out when I overheard the most unbelievable football related conversation ever.

Man Utd 'fan' Barman: fooking get in!!

Man Utd Minge-nonce: Wahey! Give us a free pint mate that's 2 out of the way!

Man Utd 'fan' Barman: Why?

Man Utd Minge-nonce: 'Cos we've won ain't we? We deserve a drink

Man Utd 'fan' Barman: Well pay for one then

Man Utd Minge-nonce: Who you kidding? I watched every United game in here this season, give me a pint, come on!

I was literally left speechless. Luckily I was with a few fans of lower league clubs who severely heckled the cunt for me.

Oh yeah, and one United 'fan' walked out at full-time because it was 'only the Carling Cup'. willy puller.

Essentially I was left fuming after the game.

lol

I think you'll find that sort of scene is replicated at most SU Bars up and down the country every weekend C-Man! Terrible places to watch football.

You talk shit.

Ronaldo was still in full control of the ball and King stupidly dived in and caught Ronaldo. That to me is a clear cut penalty, just face it and admit that a Senior Referee has made a mistake. This is the biggest problem with you Ref's some of you cannot come to terms that yourself and your fellow professionals make mistakes. Pussy's.

Could have been worse - Spurs v Liverpool....

I still haven't forgiven Spurs for the league cup they nicked from us in 99, and all the other crap that went off that day and in the league game afterwards.

But it's a sad state of affairs when a manager can field a virtual reserve team (apart from Ronaldo, Evra and Ferdinand) and still win a major trophy.. :(

I think Manyoo have now drawn level with us in the number of League Cup wins.

Was he bollocks. He over stretched, was off balance, falling down then King made contact.

And if a referee has made a mistake I'll say so :dunno:

Had to mute Sky Sports because of Andy Gray getting his description of the penalty claim all wrong. "Ronaldo is a victim". Absolute garbage, Gray. There's no way on this earth that was a penalty, he was horizontal before King's foot was anywhere near him. Contact != foul. Ronaldo was heading towards the deck long before King had even challenged him, and the fact that his foot happened to brush Ronnie's leg while he was on his way down is irrelevant. Ronaldo had decided he was going down long before he got in the box.
