Super Arj Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Don't hate on me for writing this.. but ever since we offered him a new contract.. he's been slipping.. and his performance today (from what i've heard) was the worst he's put in this season.. he seems to have lost all confidence, finesse, quality that he had before.. is there something outside of football thats troubling him?? I was hoping someone on here could shed some light on the subject.. because I for one, along with alot of other fans, are baffled...
Guest ttfn Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 I've always liked Fryatt but today he was poor. There are 3 principle reasons for this: 1) He hardly had the ball. 2) Howard wasn't playing. 3) He was being asked to go and do all the physical work, which isn't really his strong point at all, because he is slightly bigger than Dickov. Interesting how point 2 links both 1 and 3! I would say this in defence of Fryatt. Yes, he was poor today and last week, but contrary to what others say he does work hard for the team. Howard may get a lot of credit for his hard work, and so he should - but Fryatt's performances this season have been about more than just goals. He constantly harries defenders and makes them make mistakes. Again though, not trying to defend his poor performance today - I'm just saying we should mediate our criticism towards him.
Samilktray Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Signed his contract, got nothing to play for now.
Finnegan Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 He was never going to sustain his performances from the first half of the season all year. I think the whole team has slipped since the first half of the year, we're a team struggling for wins and Fryatt is a poaching goal scorer who finds his goals off the back of the team's dominance. It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that Howard - a bigger battler - is the man knocking in our goals at the moment.

He deserves it too for all his efforts and dedication for the team throughout the season. Shame he missed today as I think the outcome could have been different. Hope he and Fryatt can get back to scoring next Saturday.
Super Arj Posted 28 March 2009 Author Posted 28 March 2009 who would people prefer?? beckford or fryatt
Samilktray Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 who would people prefer??beckford or fryatt Not that its of any relevance, but Beckford hands down.
Guest ttfn Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 Not that its of any relevance, but Beckford hands down. No way. Fryatt every day of the week. Beckford's got a bad attitude and would cost loads of money. Fryatt's here already and generally has an excellent attitude.
StanSP Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 who would people prefer??beckford or fryatt On current form only, Beckford. Seems to be scoring for fun. But other than that, Fryatt always.

Why?! The players we pick for this football club should be role models as well as players. And Fryatt is that. Beckford is a horrible, petulant oik and I wouldn't want him anywhere near our football club. Would you rather have Didier Drogba at his best or Alan Shearer at his best? Not a lot to choose between the two players, but stamping on Neil Lennon's head aside (!) it's got to be Shearer, simply on the grounds that he's got a good attitude. And Jermaine Beckford is not one hell of a striker. If he was, someone better than us would have signed him. If we don't care about people's attitudes, let's bring Dennis Wise back! He had a bad attitude, but it's ok, we don't care about that. I respect your opinion about Beckford being better than Fryatt - he may well be - but I can't accept that we should accept anything other than players with a good attitude.
Super Arj Posted 28 March 2009 Author Posted 28 March 2009 back to the original issue.. i think we can come to the conclusion that.. if we don't start playing the ball to fryatt's feet.. he won't score again this season... our current tactic would suit a player like beckford... but, we don't have him.. and i think nigel pearson should start playing to our strengths...
rmc Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 fryatt is nothing without howard - and if howard can't cut it in the chhampionship like everyone seems to think, then our whole strikeforce needs to be changed
carterfox90 Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 who would people prefer??beckford or fryatt beckford & swindons cox by a country mile ...........fryatt will struggle in the championship those 2 wont

Disagree - he had very little support from the midfield and without Howard he was effectively the target man. He was quiet.

Slipping Hes fooking fell head first down the slope, he was shocking today. Heres the facts, 5 goals in his last 19 league games since his new deal. 18 goals in the first 21 games of the season, before his new deal. Fryatt, Howard, Dickov, Hayles will all probably be here next season too. We need an entire new strikeforce!

Joe. Posted 28 March 2009 Posted 28 March 2009 To simplify: Fryatt + Howard = Good. Fryatt + Anybody else = Not good. That is all.

I agree with you mate Fryatt was useless last week he gets his money to easy because NP wont drop him. unless there were reasons i cant understand why NP did not bring DJ back from blackpool he cant be any worse than Fryatt
