Dan Posted 16 April 2009 Author Posted 16 April 2009 You never know, Nige could be the new O'Neill Always hope but only time will tell
Ozwin Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 I can't believe I had the nerve to be dissapointed when he was appointed.
J.Lisemore Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 I can't believe I had the nerve to be dissapointed when he was appointed. Understandable though, I was feeling the same. But finally Mandaric has got his man and i just hope he gives him time. We'll be back in the Premier League one day...its just a matter of being patient.
Dan Posted 16 April 2009 Author Posted 16 April 2009 I can't believe I had the nerve to be dissapointed when he was appointed. I was the same, based on his poor form for Southampton. But hes got fook all resources there which we could offer him, so he joined us instead of sticking with them, one hell of an appointment that was.

Firstly he was the reason I believe they stayed up and we wnt down. Secondly he was not kept on by Southampton as they could not afford him. Thier loss was definately our gain.
davieG Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 I get the feeling that unless we win every game and are to of the league the booing will star, being number one is all some people have known

Corky Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 I want another season of progression, and get to next March where we are comfortable in the table, hopefully playing some good football along the way. I don't expect promotion again, I just want a good, solid campaign.
lou Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Wasnt that bad surely? Kept them up... He was on a no win situation at Southampton.... they were, and still are, a club in turmoil. He did amazingly well to keep them up and the vast majority of their fans were totally against his sacking

McFoxy Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Obviously there will be some new faces in the summer, but on merit of last season I have great faith in Nige's transfer dealings. What will define our season will be the start we make. If we win 2 of the first 3 games then we can push on and up, if we start with 2 losses in the first 3 we'll be fighting relegation. Anything in between and we'll be consolidating. Nige is right about momentum, and we won't necessarily need to spend big, just a few wise additions should be all we need. Personally I'm quietly confident of a reasonable season
DanTheFox07 Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Tbh they hardly blew big money they just signed the Serie A reserve team on loan, and Rowan Vine.Another promotion isn't unrealistic but its one hell of an ask, we need to go into next season as strongly as possible and get some proven Championship players like Andrew Surman, Darren Ambrose, Zheng Zhi and Simon Cox (but hes no real Championship experience) I seriously Think that both mandaric and pearson will have earmarked Sagnoswki as a signing during the summer, Remember when we were linked with him, so that would be a good signing and I would prefer to have him over cox. The others you have mentioned, well personally I think Premiership clubs will be sniffing around for surman, but we will have to wait and see. My Personal opinion is that we have to have a strong player for each part of the field, so when u Look at our team i would say the majority of our investment in the summer needs to go on a goalkeeper, apart from that 7 million is well wide of the mark.

Well it always got me that his first win for Southampton was against us, in his 11th game in charge for them, and that concerned me.

Thing is Surman has worked with Pearson so he knows all about him + if we bid fast then we could get him. As far as we know he could already have a pre-contract agreement with us, doubt it but it is possible. And Marek Saganowski above Simon Cox, Jesus Christ almighty, you must be joking?

Saganowski has championship experience and has scored quite a few over the past two years for a honestly woeful southampton side. He would be a much better signing than cox who has very little to none in the way of championship experience. Also shouldn't this argument be in the thoughts for next season thread?

Well its sort of Pearsons ambition for next season + I see what you mean but if you offered me any of the two it would be Cox every time.

No im not joking about sagnowski, How much champions league football did cox play this season? saganowski is the right choice, anyway lets see what happen`s in summer!

No im not joking about sagnowski, How much champions league football did cox play this season? saganowski is the right choice, anyway lets see what happen`s in summer! Saganowski's recent goal scoring record Southampton 2006/07 Games 15 Goals 10 2007/08 Games 34 Goals 3 2008/09 Games 17 Goals 6 Aalborg BK 2008/09 Games 25 Goals 5 (3 goals in 13 league games if you exclude the cups) Apart from a purple patch when he was on loan at Southampton a couple of seasons ago it's hardly inspiring
DanTheFox07 Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Well Mandaric saw something in him before he signed for southampton and from what i saw of him against celtic he looked good! anyway not long ago everyone was slating fryatt and saying how he won`t be able to cut it in the championship and now you all want us to sign cox, yes undoubtley i think the guy has talent but look at everyone else scoring for fun in this league. Signing a forward in the summer who will get 20 goals in the championship is a must, most important thing we have to get right in the summer in my opinion.
Leicesterboi Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 There's no reason why we can't atleast reach the playoff's next season. As NP stated the momentum and winning mentality we have from this season, along with a few decent signings could be the right formula for a successful season. I dont want to get ahead of ourselves just yet but in my opinion we are still a very big club and the Premiership is where we should be. Accepted NP may need to show a few more dimensions to his tactical knowledge as it seemed this season we have been a bit one dimensional and teams had started to suss us. None the less, the CCC is a league in which anybody can beat anybody, and as I say, a good start due to the momentum we have created, could be essential! Up the Foxes!!
Mickey O'Neil Posted 16 April 2009 Posted 16 April 2009 Cox is the sort of pain-in-the-arse player we could most certainly do with next year. I wanted to bitch-slap him when I went Swindon and I wanted to run the fcuker over when he was down here!! I really think he could cut it in the fizzy and he'd be the first player I'd go after for the new season. Get it done Milan, pleeeease.
