When you're smiling is our song... Time honoured tradition... Keep that... You don't hear of West Ham United switching from "I'm forever blowing bubbles" to Eleanor Rigby... And changing our song would be just the same... Besides West Bromwich Albion have used it since the '70's i think... NO TO HEY JUDE!!!!

act smiley Posted 19 April 2009 Posted 19 April 2009 The problem with "when your smiling", is, that it isn`t a song that can be repeated over and over, and so by the time everyones realised the song is being sung, the song is all but finished anyway. Just needs a bit 'ooooooohhhhh' to loop it, though.

Those few lines of the song are simple enough to learn and they'd sound good being belted out at matches

Rich Fox Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 WYS is and will always be our song I think this goes without saying but I think a lot of people have missed the point of the thread and that is WYS will never be sung as loud and by as many people as something like Delilah so we do need another song similar to Delilah and im forever blowing bubbles that we can sing that will get all 4 sides of the walkers rocking. Also the song heroes in blue and white would be great played just befre kick off its different to what most other clubs have and loads better that the rubbish we have at the moment.

This gets my vote though. Would look awesome with a massive scarf wall around the stadium.

Yeah, something like that. We currently don't have a particular tune for it, and it's over far too quickly. I think it'd be quite difficult to achieve anthem status unless it got some serious coverage at the club.

I guess that's usually the telling factor in any decision behind what fans do at football though. Just look at the way the apathetic majority respond to Dagwank.

That way those that are unsure of the words/tune/pace, will have the option of learning. Swap 'Let me entertain you' for WYS. That way most fans will be in the stadium. PS: Also move the Kop next to the away fans and crank up Chelsea Dagger (I can never hear it properly due to crowd noise)

Slowing WYS down is a good shout and could work, Tottenham sing when the spurs go marching in slowed right down and that sounds ok. Also if everyone in the west stand got completely stoned I am sure Lou reed, perfect day would sound great very soothing especially during the dull bits.
Ultra Posted 20 April 2009 Posted 20 April 2009 The advantage of Hey Jude is that it doesn't have many words. I'd prefer that to Chelsea Dagger or (yuk) Ring of Fire. But there are plenty of versions of When You're Smiling that could be used, and played immediately before the Post Horn Gallop.
